Thank you Jonni! I had a lot of fun with this and I think it helps people to clearly see how 'play' is so important to what I do. Nothing I ever make works first time, I wouldn't want it too, it all involves tiny subtle decisions, things that could go a multitude of ways. I thought that this would be a nice way of demonstrating exactly that. 😊
It's interesting isn't it how you respond to even the more subtle changes. It's one of the things I love, whenever I build figurative stuff or masks I spend time moving aspects of it around, it teaches you not to have a set idea and to keep an open mind.
Hi Pauline, no, the working the book is much more open ended, there are mask projects including and animal masks method that I use, but the books projects are more adaptable and therefore can be tweaked to create different animals/styles. Stuff like this is more me 'playing' and showing people ways of experimenting with sculpture. In this idea itself there are countless options as you can see throughout the video clip, you could take hundreds of different routes. 🙂
Thank you for replying so quickly . My daughter is doing gcse art and they have been given recycling as her final project. She was a bit daunted and I thought this might be an Inspiration for her. Thank you for sharing x
@@paulinedelaney1735 No problem, get her to have a look on the 'downloads' and 'news' links on the website at www.darrellwakelam.com (all free, no subscription) there's loads of free stuff there she can access, pretty much everything in the book is also based on what I share online daily and on the website, its' just nice to have it all in one place but all the online stuff is free to access. If she wants any advice (obviously through you) you can drop me a line through the website email link. 😊
What a great character - I love it! 😊

I love how you tried out lots of different ideas for the mouth. Each mouth brought a different look to the monkey! Love it!

Fabulous, love how many variations of the mouth just from different parts of an egg box!
Thanks, your brain is always trying to make connections and make sense of what it sees, so as you 'play' different options fly up at you. 👍
Wow fantastic
Thank you
