  • So torn on this one.. on one hand with the right fixes and the right changes to the loot system, Vorkath could be an incredible boss fight
    On the other hand.. as it currently stands I don't see it being a boss most players want to take part in.

    T95 crossbows were such an obvious choice that even the majority of players were speculating about them when they said it was coming with ranged armor. Very weird loot choices all around.

      I knew it was going to be armor. Bak.bolts used with Blightbounds and the ECB are already powerful enough to compete with the t95s from other styles. If t95 ranged duals come, they're probably going to be thrown weapons because it took t99 spells, animate dead, cryptbloom, and the FSOA to shake up the meta. After that, it took a brand new combat style. T95 crossbows would be both redundant and regressive.
      However, I was convinced the armor would be tank gear. Magic has Tectonic for offense and Cryptbloom for defense. Melee has Vestments of Havoc (offense) and Trimmed Masterwork (defense). Even Necromancy has Deathdealer and Deathwarden, each viable in their own right.
      Ranged is significantly lacking in high level defensive armor.[Elite] Sirenic is really the only thing you've got and now Dracolich is basically a new kind of sirenic.

      @@Galimeer5 Speaking of tectonic, I wonder when elite tectonic is going to get some sort of set bonus? I was kind of curious it didn't get applied with Vorkath coming out as they did the ranged armour while they were at it. Guessing it's being saved for a magic drop heavy boss, but still a bit odd to keep in storage.

    It's a fun boss, but needs its common rewards boosted. For how tricky it is, and how long it takes to kill - it drops very low end loot.

    In terms of story/normal, it's like.. fine? It's not really too standout but I feel normal you can kinda just gloss over most things in the fight and generally get through without struggling.
    Hard is a whole different story and I feel really brings up the biggest problems I have with the fight in the form of visual clarity and properly indicating things you're doing wrong. I'm not the worlds most experienced pvmer but I wouldn't say I'm like terrible, and I consistently felt in the few hours I was trying hard that it was just running into a brick wall repeatedly with minimal understanding on a kill by kill basis of what was really hitting me as hard as it was. Some runs it felt adds were just hitting me light a freight train, other times it felt the cascading ice aoe would just decide it would do 2-3x more damage than a previous attempt.
    Generally it feels that, while it's good to have mechanics, it's not really communicated as well as it could be exactly what goes wrong and what kills you. Rasial & Hermod were both extremely good at easily communicating exactly what they were doing, which while not immensely complex, you could learn through observation and be able to account for it (stuff as simple as monitoring auto attack/soul stacks on rasial for noting when you'll be taking bigger hits), but that just doesn't feel present with this fight.
    Overall, I think it's like, alright, but does feel like a step down from our last 2 fights.
    (Loot fr is pretty stinky though, and while I don't really mind that most of the gear is optional, I would greatly prefer sustainable commons)

    I like the use of movement mechanics. I think they did a good job of capturing that aspect from oldschool.
    I wish I could see the adds but if I could I’m not sure it would matter. I camp necro pray and ss flick threads volly but I’m never really sure what the add situation is.

    Pros:
    Fun mechanics, good difficulty, absolute chaos in a good way with a large group.
    Cons:
    Hard Mode Loot doesn’t match the difficulty, ED1 didn’t need a loot buff, T92 should be repaired through Vorkath spikes and hide.
    Hardmode should add salvage so it’s commons can generate a consistent profit, normal mode honestly feels right where it should be.
    Visual clarity is an issue for Zemo’s attacks in particular, Vorkath’s feel fine except I’d add an indicator as to where the poison will spawn. Otherwise right now zemo is too hard to figure out.
    Questionable:
    Inconsistency on if it’s a dragon and murdering your familiars..
    Other:
    I really like siege phase of the fight but I would change it so the battle can start whenever and each font disables a mechanic. Bone spikes, minions, and finger of death.
    I like the ballista element and I think it be cool if the ballista’s damage/recharge was tied to the speed of the siege phase. During the siege phase you can see your guards slowly dying over the course of the event. I think it be fair if more guards dying = less ballista firing/slower to reload it. So HM gets a full power and full reload ballista, but it’s balanced by having to deal with other mechanics while NM gets a potentially much weaker/slower one but you get to turn off 3 of Zemo’s mechanics.

      Really solid ideas here. The hides and spikes being used for repairs is especially smart to keep them relevant after creation/upgrading.

    Had alot of fun here. Love the chaos. Loved the effort amount needed... But yea loot could have had a better variety and more worth while.

    Honestly killed normal mode twice, tried hard mode and just felt like I’d rather go back to trying to learn telos because at least it’s challenging to push but also rewarding, I don’t use necromancy or range much and the 1 cool thing the rune pouch was just something you unlock from making it. And the upgrade from 100 kills doesn’t even make the shield t80 which I feel would at the least benefit me enough to want to get those 100 kills.
    But i did enjoy the deaths and trying to just soulsplit through the fight, I’m not the best or worst Omer but the damage was still really good it felt, just yeah no incentives

    They need to make a new loot for the HM, or make elite dracolich T95 ranged armor lmao. I was honestly surprised when they introduced it as T92. I'm guessing this was at the cost of making sirenic relevant in game

      Can just make vorkath drop an item to upgrade both elite sirenic and elite Draco to t95. Call it “perfected sirenic/drac”

      I mean the tier of armour doesn't really matter. The set effect is more important which is unfortunately a bit anti synergistic with bolg

      He explained on stream that t92 has the same stat bonus as t95, calling the armour t92 was misleading from the start, all elite sets have always had t95 stats from the beginning, so a t95 set would need t100 stats which makes vestments redundant.

      @@MistaBluGaming12 Interesting thanks for explaining this! Then people are selling the vorkath spikes too low! It should be way more and ancient scales possibly less due to ED1 being a little better to camp

    Im gonna wait for next week patches/qol update to the boss fight before i do anything else. That 100 kill for the nexus is enough for now. Gonna hold on to the 100 chests too in case they update the commons to be more lucrative

      they've already stated if they do up the loot previous chests acquired will not be "boosted" to the new chest drop rates/loot

    I just really hope they buff the common loot drop. Can kill Kerapac much more easily than Vorkath and make a ton more money per drop just because of the common loot. Also would like to know if the familiar taking damage from the ice spikes is intended or if that will be reworked.

    Sense they did caskets I think they should do the same kind of re-roll system as clue scrolls. I believe that’s a re-roll every 3 openings.

    I quite liked the boss fight, I thought it was fun and engaging even though I can only beat the normal mode. My only gripe is that they need to fix the bugs that came out with this update like you mention in the video as well with loading screen bug at Vorkath encounter and Deathward Nexus bug with preset. And of course they really need to improve the normal loot for both normal/hard modes, otherwise I don't really see myself grinding this boss past 100kc for Zemouregal's Nexus as it's not really rewarding compared to it's difficulty.

      I agree. The fight can take quite awhile from start to finish and the time investment for it is possible for drops is simply now worth it.

    without changes I can see this boss just being left in the dust, too much effort for the reward imo and that's a sad way to think when it's just came out. thanks for the video

    My biggest issue is group PVM content, asked over 40 people on my friends list and guested 3 clan chats trying to do group kills, even NM, gave up after 7 hours, focusing on solo now which is a problem for all of the end game content as I'm still a leaner. AOD, Vorago, ROTS, Kk, raids, Zamorak high enrage (50%+), Kerapac, Croesus are impossible to find people. Raids fc with anything under 100 KC is no hope.

      I had a similarly tricky time trying to find anyone who wanted to give it a go. Tried asking in clan chat, friend chats, pm'ing...mostly got dead silence as a reply. It's pretty annoying when you want to do group pvm content but can't get any in because finding folk who want to try is really tricky. Ended up running out of energy for the day (health issues) and calling it a day before I got a proper confirming reply of any sort. And this isn't the first time, either. I tend to find experiencing this enough times makes me feel pretty distant with the RS community, as it's akin to the sensation of being ghosted when you go through like 60 people+ and get no real reply - not even a "sorry, can't right now" from most of em. Does a number on my personal enjoyment of the game, as it makes me wonder why am I a part of these groups (and if I am a part of any groups to begin with?) if the constant is it's extremely hard to find anyone to do stuff with?

      @@ducksquidbat8315 It gets boring to solo bosses over and over again. Sometimes you do want to engage with the "multiplayer" component in MMORPGs. I notice time really flying sometimes when I manage to find someone to go bossing with, as opposed to how it seems to crawl when soloing.

      @@ducksquidbat8315 I think it would be more enjoyable once you actually know how to do the boss however getting knowledge to do the Boss by yourself in a group boss is completely different and doesn't just require practice but knowing what exactly to do. Personally I would love to do Vorago and Rots but is isn't really realistic to do solo where you should be able to find people for a group content boss

    Haven't managed to get a solo hm kill yet, but I do enjoy the boss fight up untill p3, then you get so many things at once and dbreaths that ignore magic prayer and hit you for 8k+ always do me in.
    Loot isn't in line with the difficulty especially the rares.
    Tldr; p3 less cluster and better hm loot needed

      @@slayingfury3 One of the best designs about this boss is having 2 enemies attacking you (with potentially more minions) means resonance can't be an answer to a strong attack as you'll get sniped and koed.

    I like the boss in normal mode, but definetely think hardmode is too overturned for the rewards. I agree that the loot table feels really empty. 1 codex, and armor making supplies and that's it. Down the line we will get a cosmetic token to add, but still.
    Compared to a boss like Raksha which is really only killed for its main codex drop, we at least get the boot drops as well as the spikes.

    I haven’t played since 2011, came back in July for the first time and have committed myself to playing everyday. The addiction came back strong, and I love where the game has evolved. Needless to say, I am not great at PVM like the streamers are. I can kill Rasial but not without eating a tonnnnnn of food and I’m around 3 minute kills. I say that to say that I appreciate the simplicity of vorkath and that he’s not extremely difficult. I love the loot casket ideas, but yes…his loot isn’t worth it to me so I’m right back to going to Zammy hoping I get bow pieces so I can get rasials weapons lol.

    Might be the minority but I like the fact that some things classify vorakath as a dragon and others doesn't. He is a dragon but a resurrected one

    Honestly the decision to have the armour be made through ed1 and not be t95 is kinda weird to me considering it is made for a t95 bow. I don't know why they didn't make a rare tradable drop that upgraded the armour from 90-95 so that at least it was all from the same boss. Also yeah the commons just suck, like not even just the types of items the general quantities suck too.

    I've done the fight a few times now and honestly, I just eat my way through it. The mechanics might be fun/interesting, but they're so poorly communicated I just end up face-tanking them anyways. Maybe I'll remember to throw a resonance in at the breath attack or freedom the ice square, but soul split, reflect, and continuous food munching work just as well.
    And I still don't know when I'm supposed to be attacking Vorkath or Zemouregal.
    With Zamorak, it's pretty obvious: if his health bar is red, fight him,if it's grey, charge a pad, if you just finished charging a pad, do some nonsense in Infernus to make his health bar red again.
    Vorkath and Zemo have two health bars and green glowy spheres that don't seem to mean anything. Does the green bubble mean the one you're attacking is invulnerable and you should beat on the other? Maybe, but my conjures can still do damage so I guess not.

    Im not a huge fan of getting hit with multiple styles of damage at once with little to do but suffer when defensives are on CD. For other bosses it feels skillful when you deal with a mechanic and then you get rewarded with mitigating the damage. But just getting constant damage with not much to do about it kinda feels... eh? I think this also plays into defensives not being fun to use tbh. I have a simple monkey brain. I see big damage number, monkey brain happy. Using defensives just doesnt hit in the same way. Maybe thats a me issue tbh haha

    Took me about 4 hours of banging my head against the wall befire i got a solo hm kill. This boss is unforgiving in hm, and the poison pools have no right to hit that hard, especially when theres no telegraph for where they'll land, and they damage you instantly on appearing.

    I'm at a point where I have max necro and near max range, so I don't really need as much money as i did once, but I still need some. When this boss came out I was afraid I'd lose out on money for not getting the drops super early, but since it doesn't really have any good loot besides the codex, I lost that fear of missing out and could enjoy the experience of killing the boss more. That being said, the loot really doesn't reflect the difficulty and I wish it was more like kerapac hardmode where there are additional high level drops in hm to incentivize players to do hm instead of spam killing normal mode for sub par loot.

      There's so many aspects that this boss is revolutionary (best in the game) for that missing a few aspects is kind of expected. It nailed the difficulty perfectly for a new boss, but missed the loot incentives. Not as many rare drops for something this difficult, and yet still feels too rare. However, throwing mechanics at you like spam is great, and throws off elite pvmers. Meanwhile, average folks will be able to face him in normal difficulty while newbies can tackle him in story mode (while it's a bit tedious).

    only going to kill it for reaper crew dmg buff. loot to difficulty ratio is way off imo. i feel as if the loot was overlooked compared to the fight itself like loot was rushed and they were confused on what to give it. if there was t95 crossbows or a better encro codex id be way more interested in learning it. it also sucks that the upgraded nexus pouch is locked behind 100 kills.

    I feel like this boss is so much harder than 300% zamorak imo. And zammy drops like 3-6m at that enrage with a chance of bow pieces and more. Meanwhile this boss 🤣🤣 300k-500k drops

      That's probably cuz you have more practice skipping mechanics at zammy, but i hear you- dragon's not balanced.

    Rasial dropping all t95 Necro was such a stupid decision by jagex. Could have had it drop t92 and then this dragon drop t95 weapons instead of some crappy cosmetics

    Loot totally sucks but ignoring that; its a solid boss for what seems to be the level its targeting. Its more what they were targeting with Zammy where "theoretically" anyone can kill it and complete its loot log. The mechics seem well telegraphed in story and normal mode. Have not tried hard mode yet. It reminds me of old school corp or how it used to be in the day. A huge thing throwing out lots of damage, more than you honestly should be able to take. A mass of people taking it down and this annoying thing in the room making it that much harder forcing you to move around an arena.

    Boss for me is a lot of fun. Hardmode is actually hard which is nice and i like the fact that you can't simply ss camp.
    The loot is another story, absolute tragic, have no idea what they had in mind ...

    Could only do like 5kills of him and it was boring as hell way too much hp for the ass loot and i only was able to do that many kills because yhere was a bug where my game would crash like 70% of the time when we got telelported to the vorkath section of the instance

    Dissapointed about the rabbit hole to create Dracolith t92. Granted, they never said it would be a drop but with the underwhelming loot it should have been.

    I think the mechanics are good. Normal is not easy and hard is tough.
    but we need hardmode better loot and they tease t99 range and then why not with the boss

    Very very fun boss love the difficulty in both solo and group mode I think it's good for the game to see a challenging boss, keeps content to look forward to and work towards :)
    What I would've done for the loot is add the t92 armor as a standalone non-craftable drop as individual pieces from hardmode exclusively, to give the challenge alot more reward. This does remove the advantage of keeping older content relevant (in this case ED1 with ancient scales) but it makes the newer content more desirable.
    Aside from that I'd give hardmode overall better common loot given the challenge (if we look at Zamorak for example he has a much more generous loot system - arguably on the opposite end of the scale being a bit too generous)
    Overall, love the boss and I'm so glad it is challenging and punishing

    I thought for sure it was going to be a ranged tank armor. It's puzzling that this new ranged armor is the same tier as elite sirenic, and COMPETES (not outclasses) it, yet requires the exact same materials as elite sirenic + rare loot from vorkath??? What was the point? It seems like Seiryu is the boss spotlight right now, not Vorkath. They should've significantly reduced the amount of ancient scales needed.

    I dont really like fighting Vorkath since he's another Feast or Famine type of boss like Rasial since the common drops will let you at least break even (if you are not spamming blood reaver scrolls). but his uniques are not even worth that much to begin with, and the effort required to kill him i'd honestly rather just keep using Rasial as my loot pinata hoping he decides to be nice on that day and drop me a gd unique. Rasial plz ;_; or if i want more consistent money. ed1 or ed2 run.

    Im also a more experienced pvmer, but for me I don’t have a lot of gp most of the time cuz I spend it willy nilly. I spent an hour killing this boss yesterday a few normal and a few hard mode kills, idk how I feel. I don’t think it’s really gonna be worth my time to kill because it’s a longer boss fight and the supply usage to the gp gain is a bit too high for my liking. Granted it’s a fun boss with cool mechanics, I deem it not worth my time

    Normal mode also feels too difficult considering it's the only boss that drops items to get t75 range armor and has low skill/quest requirements to unlock (I have no issue with how difficult hard mode is, let me make that clear first). As someone who is not experienced with Pvm and has a learning disability so it can take me 10x longer to learn something as well as having difficulty paying attention to multiple things at once I don't see a point in fighting Vorkath outside of story mode, which is also worthless to do considering the kills don't count towards kc and the drops don't pay for supplies, let along have the time to actually make multiple attempts. The siege mode is also too difficult, I had full t90 necro tank with darkness and protect magic and I was taking massive amounts of damage in normal mode (changing to protect melee didn't help at all it just made it worse). The consent addition of difficult bosses and high difficulty content was one reason I originally quit the game and I don't want a repeat of that but I feel like it's going to happen soon if something isn't done to either help less skilled/disabled players (while I wouldn't put myself in the disabled category I'm sure there's some players that are) then I feel like I'll be quitting the game I love sooner or later.

    I think the loot is quite well in line with all other dragon loot tables. mediocre but consistent. May not be always good, but rarely will you get an absolute terrible chest. I do think it needs a buff like always have at least 1 frost dragon bone

    Given the raw complexity of the boss, granted day one status so people haven't boiled it down to a generic meta yet, the drops are just too underwhelming to justify it. May as well keep mowing down HM Kerapac or something else that has significant drops at an easier clip.

    I'm not a great PvMer, necromancy has made be able to kill tells much easier and rax! I tried Vorkath, while I didn't do too bad, about 7 mins with the gear I got on my iron. The arena is covered in a million things by the end and its a eye sore. I got 2 kills and gave up on going for the Nexus. Maybe when I can learn to dps better.

    necro staff for swaps would of been prime i got a lucky first day codex drop sold for 500mil its 380 now loot feels bad have a 50kc hm feels useless to do now

    The regular loot sucks too. And everyone is saying these same things. It makes me wonder whether in the next days or weeks they will buff the regular loot to a much better and more acceptable standard. At least give me back what i spent in supplies. Part of me wants to not bother grinding the 100 kills until they do that, but part of me is worried they won't do it so i might as well just do them now anyway. Not sure what to do

      At the end of the day, they want people to enjoy the content they create

    The loot is horribly disproportionate to the difficulty of the boss, and the inconsistencies and bugs are frustrating. This feels like an outdated boss that used to be disproportionately hard, but it was just released. I hope we get the fixes that we need for this boss soon.

    What baffles me is the ratios of Spikes dropped by the boss. I've heard in the ball park of 4-6 if it drops at all.
    You need 99 for a full set of T90 and they have a 10 spike per day GE buy limit.

    I beat the story mode, then I tried the normal mode like 7 times. I got near the end, but I never won it. I'm more interested in working on getting my zuk cape then I might try to come back and at least win a normal mode of this one.

    i think the loot for vorkath is fine, i think rasiel drops too much loot in my opinion. necromancy now has no room for gear progression because there's already t95 weapons

    i like the boss. its hard and different. But the 200k loot chests you get after a 10min + fight is a spitbin the face from jagex. just shows they didint test the boss enough at all.and the quest was very rushed, didint matther if you space bar thry or read the dialog,

    I found this boss super disappointing. Nm is dumb easy and hm has so much going on that it's hard to tell what all is happening. Both have terrible loot. The upgrades for the t92 armor should have also come from vork to expand loot, not use the same items as elite sirenic. This boss was a miss all around tbh.

    I feel like vorkath alone is really fun, very interesting mechanics and it’s a mistake to not let dragon slayer perk work on it, would have been nice to have a boss specific perk combo, especially if like we imagined it to be a slayer boss difficulty encounter
    But then Zemorg spawns annoying mobs and has an extra bit at the end with almost no mechanics just to slow down kills per hour

    Effort/difficulty to loot doesn't make sense. They wont add more uniques, so difficulty should probably be reduced. Even if they added in more commons, I don't think it bridges the gap between loot and effort. Kerapac is much more rewarding for less difficulty

    It doest mske sence to me that in solo mode you get hit by 2 combat styles at same time, so dous and trios are much easier. Also a lot of bugs.

    I am almost all 120s (playing on and off since classic even) and i still cant do this kinda pvm. I want to yes, but inputs just feel way to clunky like i does'nt accept and i fail lol hope this new system feels way cleaner.

    for sure a low level mass boss. It's going to be an 8 hour pain killing it 100 times for the pouch they are going to prob nerf the kill count once the games flooded with gear.

    I though necromancy did more damage the more accurate you are .... I guess it stops at 100% and dont deal with negative armor ? otherwise its just a dps boost right ?

    It’s fun, I love playing with 10 people, but it’s not challenging. We just stand there and cast abilities together, with some defensives here and there. It’s not rewarding, there are a thousand bugs, the loot interface can’t note items, I think vuln bombs are bugged, finding a group is awful, and no one knows how to turn private mode off. The boss and wiki page are broken, RuneScape 3 is a mess. I was really looking forward to this and the content doesn’t seem to have any effort. We dpsed through the green shielders and ignored all mechanics, I think it’s a bug you can do damage through it

    imo, it's way too hard. I expected a boss around the difficulty of the stats required for the quest. I'm not maxed and won't be for a long while... It's almost an impossible boss. One I won't be visiting again until it's doable for non maxed players or people who don't have BIS setups or aren't pro pvmers. Also, those giants are another example of Jagex only looking at maxed players and noone else.

      The game isn’t tailor made to you. They gave it a story mode for noobs to experience it but all in all it’s intended to be aimed at “top tier pvmers”.

    One thing i wanna mantion is that t75 armor can be a little bit hard to obtain for ironman… killing the boss in normal mode is ok but killing the mobs before the boss is very annoying and i bet for everyone with no high gear quite challenging. Yeah you buy the hides on ge and and make it yourself but for an ironman getting the t75 is way harder than getting nex stuff or something like that

    Why don't you range it with a bow and dragon jas arrows, a lot of people Wana necro it and Wana have an easy fight but maybe necro is not the best style to kill that boss.

    Speaking as a total pvm noob, that arena-wide ice nuke is OP. I died twice on story mode to that. It seemed way more powerful than his other attacks but usually when that happens with other bosses there's some cue that it's coming to give you time to manage when it comes (think verbal cues from hermod or magister, or chat warnings in regular vorago). Unless it was a small detail I missed, there was no preparation for a first timer.

    Spending 15m an hour would bankrupt my account in 4 hours. Most bosses aren't done anymore because the rewards aren't worth the time. The fights might be fun, but not worth it.

    I dont think the common loot is too bad, GWD en Zammy just spoiled us.
    Keep in mind there are actually few things in game that has a huge item sink to keep prices stable.
    Godarrows are one item I can think off but I doubt they will add it to a droptable. And divine energy....

    Thanks for letting me know I'm not too terrible. I farmed 550 nm kerapac kills in 1:10 (ironman gconc) but I couldn't kill this in 4 tries even when I felt I knew the mechanics so I just gave up and went back to baldur's gate. I don't even know what the common loot looks like, but after rasial being a 2 way dps dummy (that I didn't engage with) I was hoping for a boss where you just soulsplit through normal mode if you dodge 100% of the mechanics.

    The biggest bummer for me is the drop table. If anything it made ED1 more profitable. It needs something more substantial as you've stated. Otherwise i will only be grinding it for the pet if even that.
    Edit : Other than that, it would have been cool if hardmode led to you fighting Vorkath 1 on 1 after he escapes and you defeat zemouregal. It would consist of toning down the difficulty of the main fight, and having Vorkath use completely new attacks while he's free from zemouregal's control in the second fight (that being the difficult fight). Rather than hardmode being just a number tweak of normal mode.

    A kill should guarantee 1 ancient scale as a drop with a low (5%?) chance to get 15-20 scales.
    The armor should be t95.
    A better "big drop" like the 4th necro conjure or t95 xbows from HM only would be sweet.

    The quest and release of the bosses were phenomenal. BUT! The fight itself is a pain and the loot table isnt what we were hoping for.
    IMO, too difficult of a fight for loot thats pretty meh. I would rather do a consistent solo Zammy (ED4) instead.

    to me vorkath is a chef's kiss in every catagory except for hard mode loot. NM feels like it's in the perfect place and HM is ridiculously fun. if they scale up the common loot for hard mode to average 500k-1m per kill or at least had HM uniques: it would feel a lot better doing those fun HM kills. but right now it feels like HM is just sacrificing effiency towards earning the title for having fun

    The loot is absolutely terrible at Vorkath, Jagex dropped the ball bigtime on that and we can only hope they improve the drop table. 100% should have also included T95 crossbows.
