A Look At My Miele Washing Machine

- This is the washing machine I use for my laundry, its a Miele which is a German manufacturer. They are tested to last 20 years and for the most part come with either a 5 or 10 year guarantee.

Our washing machine is more than 30 years old (purchased 54,000 fb from Cora de Woluwé / Brussels) and still works perfectly, no parts have been changed.
Its tank and drum are made of stainless steel. We have 5 children so it worked a lot and washed perfectly.
Françoise Leclerc that’s good to hear. Is it as energy efficient as today’s models? As that’s something I hear people say goes against a machine lasting too long 😊
It’s great to hear yours lasted that long.
@@experiment54 The machine is effective in washing and spinning, so its consumption of electrical energy is as good as a new machine.
In household appliances, an old fridge consumes more than a new one because the insulation was not as good as it is today and has also deteriorated over time; the seals also age and increase losses.

Wow! What is the brand & model of the machine?
This is not a fridge freezer. It’s a washing machine? Oh my god..
r/whoosh 😉
Great video. I'm glad to see that you came to your senses and didn't replace the Hotpoint WD420 with another Hotpoint, the brand has gone seriously downhill since it became foreign owned imo (by Indesit of Italy initially). I was amazed that you estimated that your WD420 was 10 years old, I would have expected the drum bearings to have failed before then, but of course it all depends how many wash cycles you do per week. To add insult to injury the bearings can't be changed on most if not all Hotpoints (sealed outer drum) so you have to buy an entire outer & inner drum assembley complete (although there are videos of how to split the outer drum (saw it in half) here on UA-cam).
Wow sounds like I got off lucky. I only really used my washing machine once or at most twice a week so guess it was treated carefully.
Lots of companies aren’t what they used to be are they 😞
@@experiment54 Indeed they’re not unfortunately. I also bought a Miele having had a Hotpoint. I’m hoping that it’ll see me out since I give it such light use (I change the bed linen roughly every 3 - 4 months whether it needs it or not 😂😂)
That’s exactly how I used to hoover before I got a neato robot hoover. Once a year whether it needed it or not haha You can see the review in the playlist on my channel - reviews of stuff I own and use. The robot hoover has been a god send 😊
@@experiment54 Haha I'll have a look at your review of the robot hoover, i've already seen the review of your Dyson.
I'm the same as you used to be regarding hoovering. I understand that the design life of a Dyson is 10 years but mine will last far longer I hope due to infrequent use!
Hope you enjoy it. I didn’t cover what others cover as didn’t see the point of being another copy of a copy video 👍
Do you think WCG 370 would be good to order? I cant see any differences with other miele..
I cant find that model on miele website but if its same as the 360 it looks a good machine. Honestly I would phone them as they will guide you through choosing. The lady even saved me money and suggested a cheaper machine that would meet all my needs. Hope that helps.
@@experiment54 Thanks for reply! Its this one, www.miele.de/haushalt/waschmaschine-1566.htm?mat=11283770&name=WCG370_WPS_PWash&9kg , We don't need iDOS or what ever the name was since we wash a lot and like to put own detergents.
@@siiNke looks the same as the 360 just a different market. Nice machine 👍
Thank you, looking for a new Miele washing machining and thought your review was good fun. Off to call Miele
Good to hear eva. I have some other videos showing the wash cycle on my channel. Some people wanted them as they found it useful.
Good luck with your purchase and enjoyment of owning a miele 😊
Don't do it!
How do you program cold water wash and cold water rinse?
You can set cold temperature wash for all but two programs. Hope that helps.
It’s a washing machine:)
😂
In 2:32, how to do if like that, but still have oclok?
I don't quite understand what you mean.
2:19 that gta saying
Mine says “locked program” and won’t open, what do I do?
It could be you’ve moved the dial from the original program by the sounds of it. Turn the dial to the program you set and it should allow you to open the door.
Does that help?
It’s all gobbledegook!
mumbo jumbo
How do you reset the timer
Glad you asked. I'll make a video. Its hardly intuitive.
Hi I have the same machine as you have a Red Cross Showing. How can I get reed of this. Thank you 😊
Is it a + sign?
If yes it means a cycle above 60 degrees hasn't been run in a long time.
Miele suggest running one to prevent bacteria building up in the machine.
Run a cotton cycle at 90 degrees with some machine cleaner or washing powder detergent with nothing in the machine.
Hope that helps.
@@experiment54 Hi thank you for this I will give it ago 😊
Is it really this deep? Or have you not pushed it back very far?
It’s that deep, you can see it again in my new house briefly in the dishwasher video (I think) Sticks out in this house too.
How do I change menu language sir? I have everything in German and don't understand anything.
What model do you have?

Switch the machine on.
Press the two arrows at the same time

Touch the UP/DOWN sensor either side of OK until the desired language appears on the display.
Confirm by touching OK.

experiment54 you know this is a washing machine not a fridge/freezer. A fridge/freezer is a different appliance you know
😂😆 yea. It’s a joke about men not knowing or doing the washing, I took it a bit further as in not knowing what a washing machine is 👍
🤣🤣
My old Miele honey comb front loader won’t fill up ughhhhhhh
Maybe a blockage or broken sensor that thinks it’s already full?
I'm sad with how Miele designs their washers now. No difference with other brands. I miss the door button located in program and their heavy duty design back in the 80's/90's. :(
Why did you replaced her, she last neary for ever?
@@Rick2010100 my old front Miele front loader won’t fill up with water it pissed and clothes still stink. It just washed clothes with no water. But rinses in some water. So weird
I try add more water
It’s also very loud now
I need to buy a new front loader don’t know which one to buy
I guess Miele is as unreliable as everything else now
Miele is the best washing machine you can buy, but it has its price - but justified by the washing result and live span. But you should have a experienced house wife who tells you wich programs you need for a certain type of laundry. As my mother teached me: For usual type of washing (jeans, poloshirts, etc.) you use 30-40° C in a short program and for underwear 40°-60° + pre-wash. Work wear and similar stuff usually need the full program. To get rid of hard dirt and collar stains, a full program is also usefull.
Water+ is also always recommendable - they had to reduce the water consumption to absurd level to get a Eco friendly sign, but if you don´t live in a area with water shortage always activate this function.
Thanks for the advice, appreciate it. I haven't used water+ yet, I'll give it a try and see the results. thanks
@@experiment54 It is not that much about the result, but also the spooling is done with more water, wich means that the laundry contains less chemicals at the end. This s more human than eco friendly. After a good wahsing the laundry should be smell neutral.
Rick2010100 thanks again for more info.
what do you think of the 20 minute quick wash and/or using the delicates cycle to get a shorter wash? Some of the washes are very long.
@@experiment54 They are good for syntetic textiles were the dirt cant go into the textile texture and is just around the yarn. The most cotton washing eg needs a normal program, as dirt and sweat can go into the structure. The best way to get them clean is temperature, but elastic yarn (rubber) is killed by temperatures above 40°C and waistbands and collar lose quickly the form. To avoid this, the 40° C program compensates the temperature 60-90° by a longer washing time. You could also use bleecher to become eg white T-shirt pure white, but if you use them regulary, the textile is in the long run also killed by the contaning chlorine. It becomes brittle and falls appart.
I use this work around: Only P&G Ariel (white and colur) and every 10th wash for T-Shirt white towels, etc. a bleecher.
Tip: I have thick black and blue winter jackets and wash them with a extra black laundry detergent, because the rinse water contains still enaugh white colour particle to cause stains. If you hang them to dry, you have with normal color laundry detergent stil always a kind of water stains at the cuffs and lower parts, but not with special black detergent.
@@Rick2010100 thanks again mate, that is brilliant information 👍
Hi I’m thinking of buying this machine. Do you know if it is made in Germany.
As far as im aware they are still made in Germany. Though they now use plastic in many parts they didnt used to.
@@experiment54 thanks. I know Miele have a factory in China now where some of their vacuums are made. I was just wondering about their washing machines. Very expensive for something made in China!
If the name plate doesn’t say "Made in Germany," it will be likely assembled in Poland, where the "cheap" Miele washing machines are made since 2020.
Very interesting information. Yep thanks for sharing.
MY miele waher is making a bad noises on full spin after 11 years of use..Do I call out Miele repair team or buy a new on because its 11 years old?? help
If you call out miele repair team you will pay a lot because they are not cheap, you need to weigh this up with the cost of a new machine. Which ever is cheaper or turns out the better deal I would probably go with that. You also could compare your machine to a new one on efficiency et cetera and see if that is something you want to buy into. Hope that helps.
@@experiment54 cheers bud, I`m going to ring Miele tomorrow and explain why I bought Miele (should last 20 years) and why I have two Miele vacuums cleaners..I`m hoping they see sense and make me an offer I can`t refuse.Either that or I`m going to give another company my hard to come by Money,
@@garysmith70 let us know how you get on 👍 good luck 🤞
@@experiment54 Forgot to get back to you.Well they offered 2 options. first An engineer to come out for £160 for the hour and £110 every hour after that.Or they said that they would fix the washer for a total of £269 including parts.I choose option 2, And then they asked what was my Miele was doing or not doing I explained the noises on full spin and then they said OH the £269 wont cover that because its the main bearing and that is not a cost effective repair, just get a new washer (not Happy) Anyway I did get a new washer a Bosch..Miele can get stuffed with saying a main bearing is a non cost effective repair..I bought Miele because it says they last 20 years yet its 12 years old and now un service able wel kiss my swingers Miele
@@garysmith70 man that’s unfortunate. I believe when miele say it’ll last 20 years it’s the equivalent of 20 years of use so they kind of get away with that. It’s clever marketing. I don’t really agree with it. So if you use it more than what they test for the 20 years use that’s how it works out in their thinking.
I hope you get better luck with your bosch. Many say that if you buy something that’s half the price of a miele and you have to buy two of them due to damage beyond reasonable repair then you end up quids in. Anyhow, the bosch will be way easier to repair so you should be good for many years! Best of luck and thanks for replying back 👍
Can it wash a king size blanket?
It won’t fit a king-size quilt. It will wash a king size sheet or a king size quilt cover. Hope that helps.

Never use short programs they don't washand don't rinse at all, use minimum iron for every day clotes and cotton for the rest! The time will be reduced a lot according with the weight of the clothes you wash
I use short wash on 30 minutes sometimes with water+ for certain items but like you suggest mostly minimum iron on a short wash with water + and cottons other times. I haven’t had any problem I can see with minimum iron short wash.
@@experiment54 I’d always use cottons

@@experiment54 quick washes do damage to the clothes and I had to buy a new set of clothes and check out the Miele cottons 40c video on my channel only takes an hour for a normal cottons cycle
