I was one of the lucky ones. I started with Waylon in early 70's & never left him. Thru all the phases. Live in Midwest & was able to see him 8 times alone, 2times with Willie & once with Highwaymen. During the times around the Willie era they came out & "visited". It was a magic time. Waylon's music is still magic for country music.

I saw him with the highwaymen Melb Australia in the middle 90s. Toward the end went down to the front of the stage and stood in awe looking at all that talent in 1 place. Left right after the show and saw the menfolk down near the bus. 18 years later I talked to an elderly couple who had been to the show and stayed behind for 45 minutes waiting for the crowd to disperse. There were 300 of the attendees and what happens is that Willie came out with his guitar and sang to the 300 for 45 minutes.

One I can’t pass by is “Here comes that rainbow again”, by Johnny Cash with a walk-on chorus that just warms the heart by Waylon. Can’t avoid a tear from that perfect Kris Kristofferson song, sung by these good friends.

People do a lot of belly aching, especially the country music fans that real music is dead and now much better W.J. and Willie and all the Legends. Cannot argue with them... we are just people who know better, have been gifted with the sense, and the taste to appreciate better music. What we should be doing more is praising that technology makes it just as easy to access the material to hear these people and to see them alive as it is to listen to that new junk. UA-cam has made it possible to relive and to listen to the real good stuff and to simply just ignore that commercial garbage. It is a bit annoying to hear these singers mention the Legends in their songs, like their music can stand up to what they were doing their whole careers - there you go I am complaining too
