    For those curious about the lady with college degrees at the age of five: I worked at a homeless shelter. Drug induced psychosis is a real thing but the commonality you will find between all stories / delusions is that they are all narratives that make the person meaningful or successful in some way.
    It's not ego. It's the brains way of coping and protecting itself. These people are so vulnerable and derided by society. Their inner world of make believe where they are a prodigy and have value is what keeps them safe.
    Very sad stuff indeed.

    • @TJ-ub1bs
      @TJ-ub1bs Рік тому +15

      Are the psychotic episodes temporary or permanent? Do they ever go back to their normal selves? And do you think such people are a threat to society or themselves?

    • @cosmiccharlie8006
      @cosmiccharlie8006 Рік тому +37

      @@TJ-ub1bs That depends on too many factors for anyone to answer properly. Whether or not a person returns to a baseline level without psychosis depends on factors that cause the psychosis in the first place. If its drug or lack of sleep from stimulant use induced psychosis, it's possible to return to a baseline state where the person isn't experiencing that state of mind anymore.
      If it's psychosis due to mental health issues, whether schizophrenia or related to any other mental issue, the question of that person returning to a baseline, non-psychosis state is individual. Sometimes with mental health issues the symptoms flair up at times due to a number of possible reasons and factors.
      It's possible for a person in this state to suffer from psychosis at one point and at another point not be in such a state.
      Although, someone like the person being referred to in the video is most likely a combination of drug use and mental health issues, both acting as a catalyst for one another. Chances are they are like that the majority of the time.

      @@TJ-ub1bs permanent or temporary just depends from person to person and how long they’ve used, not 100%, and most of the time yes sadly.. just research drug induced schizophrenia, drug induced psychosis is similar except it wears off for example seeing everything look wavy on acid is drug induced psychosis but it goes away after the drug wears off, sometimes drugs don’t wear off and can give ppl HPPD, so a lot of these ppl are in some sort of drug induced schizophrenia/HPPD.. but basically their brain is fried, these harsh chemicals have messed with the neurochemistry so bad that the person is crazy, there’s not an exact term for this mental state rn but we obv can see it exist and it’s very complex… also trauma can negatively effect the physical brain and it’s neurochemistry, so the hard lives these ppl lived plus the drugs is just horrible for the psyche, trauma causes multiple mental/personality issues and disorders and addiction does too so these ppl are outcasted which adds on even more… no one can change these ppl but themselves, I suggest researching Jordan Petersons videos on addiction

      As someone homeless never believe a story from these people. 95% of them have a chance to get out of their situation but chose not to. I found when trying to help them when I got clean and off the streets most of them were lazy and enjoyed what little they got from the government. There are very few you can help. I lived that life for 6 years. Until the government stops handing out free bees nothing will change. It's no different in minority communities. They are paying the single mothers money and give them a place to call home but they don't put anything back into society except for more criminals who are a product of single-mother households. I'm so tired of people covering up those who don't want help unless it's free of work and consequences. Now that I'm off the streets I have to pay for them out of my taxes. It may sound cruel but it's what I learned from being in the same situation. Colleges need to bring back trade work rather than teaching people about oppression and LGBT pride or it is going to get worse. It's become ridiculous. They are not learning anything valuable anymore. The professors are now all activists with agendas rather than teachers.

      As much as it sucks there’s nothing you can do to help these people. Most of them are on drugs and the amount of money it would cost to get a small ass portion of them sober would be fucking astronomically high along with the people that don’t want to get sober. Then if the state did pay the money to help put these people in programs a lot of them would relapse. That’s also assuming any of these people even have a work ethic. A lot of these people are homeless because they either can’t hold a job or don’t want to work. You wonna do something then help them start a program to obtain a license or an ID. That way the ones that actually want to better themselves will have a chance to climb back up. But saying we need to throw money at it won’t work. It’s like the saying you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink it.

    I'm homeless. I work 4 to 5 days a week at a restaurant. I've never had a job that pays enough to afford rent unless I work 60+ hours a week or just accept living paycheck to paycheck (I'd rather be homeless). I have two college degrees, one from DeVry University in electronics and computer technology which was later revealed to be a scam. The DOE took them to court and won. They trained us on obsolete technology that they could buy up for cheap. The second degree is a B.A. in Anthropology, totally useless. I was raised to believe that going to college was the best thing you could do. "As long as you graduate with a solid GPA you'll find a good job", I was told. None of that is true. I feel like an idiot now but I was a kid back then doing what I thought was smart and responsible. I owe $70,000 in loans. I did contract archaeology for a while at minimum wage. I've worked in manufacturing which barely paid over minimum wage and still wasn't enough to live on, even working 50 hours a week. I've worked as a CNA in a memory care facility (also minimum wage) with people's lives in my hands. I had an apartment at the time that I could barely afford and after the first year they jacked up the rent. I decided to just live out of my car. It was nice to finally be able to have some money left over for saving at the end of each month. That lasted a few years until the car broke down right after Covid when car/gas/everything prices skyrocketed. Now I'm living in a tent, still working 4 to 5 days a week. I have no hope for housing. Hopefully car prices will stabilize and I'll buy another rig to live in soon. But this country doesn't care about me, it prioritizes Wall Street and illegal immigrants first and foremost meanwhile demanding student loan payments from a homeless working man. Here's an exhaustive list of the drugs I do and have ever done: Cannabis, coffee, and about once a year I'll take some shrooms. In my 20's I drank socially like most college students but stopped after I graduated. I spend about $60 a month for weed and coffee which I don't think is particularly crazy.
    A part of my problem is I have a schizoid personality. That means I am only comfortable when I'm alone. I can work with people fine but living with them doesn't work for me. Housing is designed for families and very rich single adults, not single working class adults like me. Society has no place for someone like me. I do my best to keep a positive attitude and am horrified by the drugs most other homeless people are on. I have no interest in panhandling or getting anything for free. But when working still doesn't get you a roof over your head or healthcare or even an affordable vehicle anymore I can understand why so many other homeless people have a terrible attitude. They look at me and think I'm a sucker for going to work all the time and still having to sleep outside like a stray dog. I'd rather live like I do though than be wrecked on fentanyl or meth or whatever like them or work all the time just to have some greedy landlord suck it all up every month. It's weird having one foot in both worlds. Yea, these homeless people are fucked but they're a product of a society and economy that's equally fucked so I'm not surprised. If someone like me who shows up to work on time every day and does everything that is required can't get a home we're in for a world of hurt going forward.
