Some of you are claiming that I stole this theory from the UA-camr “The Fangirl”, who posted a similar theory on July 21st. It is incorrect that anything was stolen. I wrote, recorded, edited, AND uploaded this very video on July 6th, and scheduled to make it public on August 11th, a method most UA-camrs do. If you want proof that I did this, you can check my Twitter, where I always explain the process I’m going through while making the theory, where, on July 6th, I explained the entire process. Or, you can check The Fangirl’s theory’s comments section, where I commented on it the day she posted it, with a similar comment to this one.
Check out frakenweenie, i think its set in the 50's but the main character is named victor and looks exactly like him. also i think the coraline cat is also in that movie
The Theorizer I have a theory about spirited away. Sen & her parents are actually in purgatory as well (or hell), cos they committed sins! I MEAN HER PARENTS STAT UP COMMENTED THE SIN OF GLUTNY!!!! And Sen commented the sin of either jealousy or greed, and the spirit world is either hell or purgatory, and ubaba (idk how to spell it correctly) is actually either lord Satan (if there in hell) or the grim reaper (if there in purgatory), and Sen's parents punishment is being turned into pigs (& becoming more hideous than my cousin lol) while Sen is making up for there sins. And the end is them moving on to heaven (pukes) or being brought back to life. And the beginning is actually them finding there way to hell or purgatory, and they actually died either before the movie started or they died in the tunnel and we just didn't see it, or maybe they did die before the movie, and that's the real reason Sen's dad took the so called "short cut". You can do a video on my theory, as long as I get some credit cos it is MY theory after all! I get pined when I leave a comment on the video. Ok? Ok!
Hi, i have another idea. What if it wasn't tied to paranorman but to frankenweenie. A boy who raised his dead dog back to life. Weenie also resembles scraps and zero
Before I was old enough to go to school, my grandma would always come over and watch me, and I always had her play the corpse bride whenever it was on.
I think her motives were a lot simpler. She wanted love. That's how she was so easily swayed by Barkis, why she so quickly accepted a marriage to a neurotic stranger, why she's so hurt when he sneaks off to be with Victoria. And her scene picking flower petals only emphasizes what she wants and can't have. I also think the scene where she turns to butterflies is reflective of her ascending after letting go of the anger she felt for having been murdered and unloved. She doesn't immediately turn to butterflies when he dies. Not until after she gives her blessing to Victor and Victoria. She lets go of what she couldn't have. She lets go of the hatred and heartache. Her soul is finally at peace and she can move on.
I actually have a theory that Emily may have been pregnant when she died. In the scene when she is upset and laying in her coffin she's picking flowers and says "Roses, for eternal love. Lilies for sweetness." And when she gets to the 3rd bouquet of flowers she pauses for a brief moment and says "Baby's breath" kind of dejectedly. I feel like this indicates that Emily definitely may have wanted a child before she died or might have already been pregnant with Lord Barkis' child. Again this theory is very far fetched so it probably isn't true but it's interesting to think about.
@@shakanuhglorie8444 there wasn't a way to get rid of it in the Victorian age. The technology wasn't there. You would have had to put it up for adoption
What if that’s why her side is missing? He didn’t want kids and the movie kind of glossed over it, but alluded to something evil with the shadow casting over her before she screamed.
@@DevlinBlake actually, methods for abortions have existed since ancient times, there were always herbal medications and mechanical methods for ridding yourself of an unwanted pregnancy, the only downside is that it isn't as safe as it is today and unfortunately, many women have died in the process :(
She goes to heaven because she's been stuck between heaven and hell because she can't let go that she was killed by her love! It keeps her trapped until she knows no other women will be killed by the man who killed Emily! Once she can let go of the thought and finish the marriage! So she went to heaven that's my theory
@@corumni Tf? Why should i shut up? They said what was said in the video stupidly claiming it as their own. They could've said 'I agree!' or something.
That's what makes the story good imo. Because it kinda brings forth the gravity of the message of life and death. As viewers, marjority of us were led by the writers to root for Emily and Victor as endgame. Sadly, reality is that it was never a possibility to begin with, message bg: death is eternal and 'barrier' (till DEATH do us APART) . If anythg this story kinda mirrors real life grief or loss one wld feel from a death of a loved one. The anger we all feel/felt was probably actually underlying frustration and 'heartache' over the 'loss' ;-;
Frankenweenie, the corpse bride and The nightmare before christmas are all the same story. "Every story has a beginning middle and end not neccasarily in that order" - Tim burton
I love that tim made the ending something else than we expected, it shows children that no matter how much they love something or someone they have to let go. It just isn’t the perfect ending and exactly that makes it so satisfying. Even while you’re watching the movie, you probably started loving Emily too but in the end she was finally free, it kinda hurts but it’s also satisfying to see that she’s in a better place now.
actually I thought it WAS a perfect ending. Emily, Victor and Victoria ALL got their happy ever after, Victor married Victoria most likely and he was also able to set Emily free of her sorrow. Seems like a pretty great ending to me. Plus as a bonus Barkis died and got exactly what he deserved after doing what he did to Emily.
So listen to me : Scraps is in the unfinished business underworld place because he is waiting for Victor to die and walk with him to their shared afterlife. * Great, I made myself cry *
Oh God! No!! 😓 Please don't go there.. i lost my dog 1 year ago.. This is too much to even assume...💔💔 (Good assumption though, even though you just broke my heart..)
omg shut up 😭 I’ve recently had my furbaby’s DNA preserved so when she is gone I’ll be able to clone her genetic twin. I hope this is true, by the time I go I’ll have like 3-4 clones of my girl waiting for me 🥹
honestly i’m happy Emily didn’t end up with Victor... she deserved wayyy better.. Victor was only going to marry her because he felt bad... Emily deserves someone that loves her truly... Victor loved Victoria :( but i feel like she should’ve had her happily ever after with someone that truly loved her 🥺💞💞
@@zfusizn he was going to marry her because he felt bad, not because he wanted to, if he wanted to marry her he would’ve, but he wanted to marry Victoria.. he didn’t truly love her, they were meant to be but it was a one sided love type of situation.. i feel like he loved her but wasn’t in love with her.. i’m probably wrong but that’s my pov
@@stephanielimon4 ya same I'm really sad how she never got a true love even when was alive & even after becoming corpse ....I used to ship Victor & Emily when I was younger but now I realize he never loved her & did all out of pityness and his thought of not able to get Victoria:(. He may be good friend but not that great of a person for Emily
Also people get mad because Victor ended up with Victoria and not Emily but really!? Victor and Emily really had no chance at a normal relationship! She was dead and a corpse and I don’t think that would work lol. I loved the ending of the movie and it showed that Emily was at peace. Also I don’t know why there’s so many people who hated Victoria. I thought she was really sweet and very pretty.
Your right. I think the hole story showed Emily was forcing him into a marriage he didn’t want . The moral of the story is you can’t force or manipulate someone to love you.
We can conclude that victor and victoria must’ve been young (early twenties-maybe even teenagers) which means lord barkis must have been a similar age (he tried to marry emily and victoria who are both young) which means that emily’s death must have only happened a few years prior to victor and victoria’s marriage, since lord barkis would’ve aged! Victor and emily could’ve known each other before she died!
this movie was set in more olden victorian times, a man of any age could marry a young women. especially when marriage was usually only for money. lord barkis was Clearly an older man, maybe 30s.
lord barkis was from another town and then came to (i forgot the name) town and then almost immediately married victoria so victor couldn’t of know emily, also if they did know each other emily would of said
my heart is really sad for emily. Been there in the same situation as hers. And it really hurts if you really liked and loved someone but someone already owns his heart first. It really hurts when you dont get chosen in the end. I always have tears streaming my eyes when I watch the part 'I love you, but you're not mine'. The feels bruh
Even my first time watching this at 10/11 I always thought the land of the dead was purgatory. He went to purgatory and was just tormented for what he did to Emily. I don’t think he went to hell but I can see the argument to be made there as well
technically he went to purgatory. He was tortured and punished for his sins. If he regretted them and became a better man, he would too ascend to "heaven", but if he didn't regret them, and wasn't punished for long enough, he would go to hell
Actually, when victor put a ring on it, Emily brought him to the dead. Then they used a spell to go to the land of the living, but Emily sent him back with her so that means victor can’t go there by himself
I'm sorry, but I have to say it: Victor is NOT Jack Skellington. I have several points explaining why: 1. Just because they have long limbs and large eyes (or sockets in Jack's case) doesn't mean they are the same character. Tim Burton draws his characters in that style, and that is how the puppets are made, hence why lots of his claymation characters have similar body styles. Plus Jack's fingers are far longer. 2. They have completely different personalities. Victor is shy, timid and quite nervous, speaking with a stammer. Jack is outgoing and confident, having the balls to both recreate a holiday and battle the Boogieman (and not kill him, that was Santa. Common mistake). 3. Jack has an American accent and Victor has a British one. Enough said. 4. Scraps and Zero may look slightly similar, but it's just because of the heads. Zero head is both smaller than Scraps' and has a longer, thinner muzzle, whilst Scraps has a larger head with a wider, shorter muzzle. Finally, regarding your last mention of this theory, Jack is not feared by the residents of Halloween Town. Oogie Boogie and his henchkids are feared (and hated). Jack is loved and adored, called scary because it is a compliment in a town where "life's no fun without a good scare". He's feared in the real world, but that's because he's a moving skeleton. Sorry to try and shut down your mini-theory, but I see this theory a lot and as someone who knows they aren't the same character, I try and shut them down. Yes, I know I'm a killjoy.

She never intended the kill the guy who killed her. This "vengeance" was carried out by the other undead. If she was in purgatory, then it is more likely that she finally let go her earthly desire when she refused to act selfish and let Victor go. In the end, she was allowed to leave the world behind not because she had no "unfinished business" after all of this, but because she realized her mistakes in life which allowed her to move on. She underwent "purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven," (III. THE FINAL PURIFICATION, OR PURGATORY - 1030 - Catechism of the Catholic Church).
See since Emily was murdered by Barkus I assumed her unfinished business would be to not let another woman get hurt by him. The butterflies that followed Victor was Emily guiding him on his path to Veronica. BUT when she met him, and he "proposed" she forgot her duties. But seeing the girl in her wedding dress reminded her of her duties, to protect women from Barkus. The dead knew of Emily's story and killed him from ruining a young woman with potential. And how they say Victor is living, he seems depressed all through the movie so maybe his will to live died after being 'engaged' to Emily... Idk
Sherrie Sauer I actually agree with your theory. I think she had three unfinished business's that she didn't know about. Maybe she knew about the married part and getting revenge on Barkus. But I think that god or the creator kept saving Veronica as a secret. Or she could have decided when she first saw Veronica and Burkus she realized that she better do something and protect her before she becomes like her. It shows the sacrifice made by Emily and why she was ascended into heaven. That's how good of a movie this is. It makes you think and challenges your beliefs. I do believe that Tim Burton is a believer in the after life.
Gold Leader yes!! I feel like there should've been another movie made called 'Before the Bride', but how Tim Burton works it doesn't seem like he makes parts 2!
Sherrie Sauer Agreed. Also I love the shot of Emily showing up to Victor for the first time so much I put it on as my computer wallpaper. It's just beautiful and creepy. I think this is better then Nightmare Before Christmas. I know a lot of Tim Burton fans would blast me for that but I think this is a deeper movie if you dive into it. I actually found the people reuniting with there family members at the end of the movie strangely touching. As a paranormal researcher myself I found the part where the boy finding his grandpa touching. There is a theory that kids connect more to ghosts and spirits then adults do because they are so innocent. Which is what Tim Burton was probably doing there.
Just a quick thing, I wasn't sure if you knew this or not, but Coraline and Paranorman are made by the same company/people but Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Frankenweenie, (etc.) Are Tim Burton movies and are different companies. I know that there are people who worked on Coraline that also worked on The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is why the art style is similar, but yeah I thought you should know, just in case that would change any theories you have
Haley Day thank you! This was bugging me so bad haha. Laika studios wasn't a thing when the Corpse Bride was made. The Corpse Bride is NOT a Laika movie!!!! Lol
You know how there's a movie or tv show that you watch every day when you are like 3? Yeah... that was the corpse bride for me. It holds a special lil place in my heart. Great theory btw!
Theory: Emily is Victoria’s older sister. She was once a bright young beauty with a full and warm heart who was very loved by all who knew her. But, because of her parent’s strictness she was also a tad rebellious, learning the ways of piano playing and dancing against their wishes- after her tragic disappearance her parents decided they couldn’t let the past repeat itself, and so they were even stricter with Victoria… keeping the piano because even they didn’t have the heart to rid of the object that brought Emily so much joy when she was around (assuming they don’t know she died as her body was never found) but forbid Victoria from ever going near it. It would make sense, wouldn’t it? During the meeting scene between Victor and Victoria she mentioned that her parents never let her near the piano with the excuse that it was improper for a woman, and too “Passionate” as we all know Emily is a very Passionate woman.
But there are several plot holes in this theory that always bug me. Like, Emily's parents didn't approve of the man she wanted to marry, so it's safe to think they knew who he was. But they had no idea who lord Barkis was, and as bad of parents as they might be, I think they would've remembered him and not given off Victoria so easily.
I'm going to add to this. People say this doesn't work because the parents would have recognized Lord Barkis. However, what if they never met him? Emily could have easily just given his first name, and Lord Barks needed money, so when Emily stated that he was poor, that might be why the parents didn't approve.
If Victor is the pumpkin king then where is his queen? Victoria? In the movie he wanted to be with Victoria forever so I don't think he'd move on with Sally. Plus the pumpkin king's name is Jack, not Victor.
your comment makes a lot of sense, but what if victoria is still alive and he died before her? also, I believe that jack is a common name for skulls, just like 'roger' on pirate flags, so we can't be sure that it's his real name, the people of halloween town might have given it to him because of his skeleton appearance.
the corpse bride was taken place in the late 1800 and jack was burned alive which is shown in the beginning of the the movie also jack died BEFORE the 1800
@@alexwallace9048 Dr. Finkelstein is the guy in the wheelchair and though she was never formidably named the Pumpkin Queen in the movie you would be right. Her name was Sally and she was in love with him. He didn't realize until the end and came to the conclusion that he felt the same for her.
Everyone is making theories about Emily and Victoria and all that while i want to know how the Peter Lorre maggot got into Emily's skull and how she first reacted to him
To be honest, I don't know why everyone hates Victoria. Emily forced Victor into a marriage he didn't consent to even if he was rude to her and should've told her the truth. He was in love with Victoria, and no amount of pity could make him truly fall in love with Emily. And let's be real, would you want to marry a random corpse? But the story still ended on a good note with Emily accepting that she couldn't get what she wanted (even if she deserved better) and Victor ending up with his love.
If i were Victor, i'd choose Emily over Victoria any day. Victoria is just not that interesting. Emily has got such a great personality and is so beautiful (not me simping on a fictional character).
But in that sense he also did wrong lamo. He accept to marry her out of pityness & his thought of never able to get Victoria again even tho he still didn't forgotten her . He treated her more like a good frd & rebound at a same time and then quickly moved on to Victoria at the end. Emily didn't hypnotized him or smtg . Both girls actually deserve better . I bet if it's real life everybody would be blaming the boy lol
I mean Victoria was kinda random too. He had literally just met her. His piano scene with Emily was way more passionate than his with Victoria's. I think by the end he did love Emily. Even when Victoria was there he was still willing to marry Emily because he promised her. At that point it was heavily implied that she had already let him off the hook. I dont think if she was just a rebound he would have done that. He ultimately spent way more time with Emily than Victoria as well. If he had of met her first there would be no contest at all. Like let's say he knew he was arranged to marry Victoria but hadn't met her yet. He just went to practice in the woods prior to meeting her. He meets Emily and that's all she wrote. The end.
@@ZanyMei That's true and I completely agree, I was actually rethinking the "random corpse" thing because they're both technically strangers. But at the same time, the wedding with Emily was still sort of a second choice, "Victoria moved on so I guess I should too" thing..
Can you imagine going to the movies with one of these film theorist dudes? "Honey--Honey! That--did you see that?" "What?" "Emily's butterflies match the ones in the beginning." *takes notes* "And why are all the dead people corpses?" "Because they're dead?" "NO! BECAUSE THEY'RE IN PURGATORY." edit: Why is no one talking about "Kitty go cray-cray!" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Don't everybody do this? I mean If I am watching a movie; I don't just accept it as it is even if I don't understand a part of it. I think of what it means, and ask if whoever is watching it with me, has the same idea. My mother is like that and we bounce ideas to each other all the time and make theories while watching.
i like to believe that emily’s unfinished business was a loving marriage, and even though she didn’t find it for herself, she ended up bringing victor and victoria together and that’s when she ascended
I think in the movie frankenweenie is when he's a little kid then the corpse bride is when he is an adult and the nightmare before Christmas is when he's dead But this is just what I think
That last scene always made me wish they had made Emily pass on in her pre death form. I felt like it wasn't done when she stayed looking like a corpse before the butterflies
Emily was trapped by feelings of guilt(taking her family's heirlooms and money) unrequited love and anger. She was able to let go of those feelings when she realized she didn't want Victor to die because of her. She then pulled Victoria out of harm's way and saved Victor from Barkus. Her final act was to wish them a happy marriage. Seeing Barkus die may have given her satisfaction, but it was not part of her unfinished business.
The Theorizer there is also another big question on my mind from this movie. How would all of a sudden the dead in "purgatory" be able to come back to Earth during the wedding? You said in your video that Victor would have to have some paranormal ability to go to that place, but that doesn't explain why the dead ones in purgatory are suddenly able to go to Earth for the wedding. Why would they just decide to go back during the wedding of all times? I might be missing something here and I apologize if I am (I haven't seen this movie in a while but I remember most of it). During the part when the dead all come to Earth, a young boy reunites with his dead grandfather like it is nothing. I am honestly really confused. Could you maybe make a video about this? I'll try to think of things to explain this as well.
I believe that it is the day of the dead when the wedding takes place. There isn't a date, but I just believe that because that is the only day the dead are able to roam.
Most likely it's, because Victor and Emily we're getting married. Victor was still alive and Emily is dead, essentially opening the veil between this world and the next. If Victor did choose to kill himself and marry Emily then the veil would close and everyone would have to go back to the land of the dead.
I think it had something to do with the old skeleton man, cause he had positions that allow you to go to the land of the living but he's against it and doesn't just hand out the potions. Since it was a wedding I think he let it passed and everyone was allowed to go up, but IDK I just remember everyone singing about the wedding and they just magically teleported "upstairs".
About that Frankenstein theory at the end, Tim Burton recently made a film called frankenweenie, which is about a boy who looks a lot like Victor who brings his dog back to life. The entire timeline makes sense, they are all the same person and the same dog
Chloe Iversen To me the timeline makes no sense, seeing as how The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie are shown in more modern towns (and American nonetheless) while The Corpse Bride seems to take place in the Victorian Era in England (or around that period).
Well I don't know if NBC took place in America. Sure everyone in Halloween Town talked like they were American, but you could really just say it's because of the American voice actors and the fact that it was made in America because the setting in the beginning and middle doesn't imply that the U.S. is the setting (especially not in the opening sequence where they show the forest where the holiday towns are). The only part of the movie that seems to take place in the U.S. is the part where Jack is delivering the toys to the kids and when his sleigh gets shot down. Other than that, the movie could have very well been in England and it just skipped over Jack flying his sleigh to America.
i literally screamed in my pillow when i saw the ending. also, emily is the most sweetest, cutest, most honest and kindest person i would love to meet. 🧸🥺 i’m for sure dressing up like her for this Halloween ☺️💞
Victor fell for Victoria as soon as he saw her, He was, However awkwardly, In love with her and wanted to marry her after meting her, He was never in love with Emily, Yes she's a lovely character, But he was only going to sacrifice himself to be with her out of pity, It wasn't love and Emily in the end knew this and didn't want to take what had been taken from her, She found peace without a man, Because a man is not everything in this life or the next.
@@skullchick2646 i agree, even watching movie the first time. It's messed up if he ended up with Emily, he was gonna commit suicide to a dead girl. I felt bad for victoria, she's a really cool character.
"spoiler alert: watch the corpse bride before watching this" me who watched it in theaters when it came out, and watched it everyday since then: oh shit
@@jillrobertz as much as you like the idea it was confirmed false many times and you weren't in the conversation to begin with. The replier wasn't even trying to be rude so I don't know why you assume they were
What if Victor got his powers of controlling the dead by marring Emily (a living marring the dead) like the mystique of the 13th century that had visions of Jesus, giving them advance and getting married to the mystique, and from the visions and came powers of heeling and preaching. I don't know if I'm explaining it correctly, but in my mind it makes sense. Sorry... o_o
When I watched the movie my child brain theorized this. Lord barkin was pretty old looking in the flim and was clearing looking for money. I thought that emily was a relative of victoria parents e.g sister or cousin. During emily's origin she steals her mother's wedding dress and some money from her family and runs away to marry (much younger) Lord barkin. I was thinking that the money she stole is the reason Victoria's family are so broke. Because Emily took all the inheritance from the safe before she was killed. As they never found her body the family thought she was a disgrace and never mentioned her again. Eventually marrying her siblings off to wealthier people. (which is why victoria's parents hate each other) To try and get the fortune back. Thats it enjoy :P
that actually makes some sense, her family probably never found out that she had died and assumed that she was somewhere out there married to a pauper, and it also would explain the reason behind Victoria not knowing who she was. Emily was probably her aunt, but because of the scandal that she and Lord Barkis caused, she died being right around Victoria's age so by the time Victoria was born Emily was already long dead if we go by how old her parents look and again due to the scandalous nature of the whole thing, it's likely that all traces of Emily ever having existed were disposed of to cover it all up.
It is impossible for Victor in corpse bride and Victor from frankinwinnie to be the same person,Victor is in a old town that was taken down around the time around frankinwinnie they also are in two different time periods as well
Victor loved Victoria from when he first met her. He wanted to leave Emily, but when he found out Victoria had married Lord Barkis- he realised he had nothing to live for anymore, and decided to die and marry Emily. Also, when Emily tells Victor she loves him, he doesn’t say it back. Victor and Victoria were supposed to be together from the beginning!! 🦋
My theory is at the beginning of the movie we see victor drawibg a butterfly he then let the butterfly go (same butterfly as emily during the end) and in the opening scene we hear a clock ticking I belive the clock ticking is going back in time to when the story took place so victor drawibg the butterfly took place after I guess idk
I love this theory so much! I had a theory almost exactly like this, so it's nice to see someone else have one like it too. Makes me feel less crazy. I did always used to wonder about whether or not there was a connection between Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. I do have a little side bit for that theory. As you said, Emily bursts into butterflies that had surrounded Victor all his life. If you remember from Nightmare Before Christmas, at one point, Sally sends the brew up the Jack's window. When he opens it, it turns into a butterfly. I don't know, I thought that was a cool tid bit.
Biggest problems with this : • Laika had nothing to do with The Nightmare Before Christmas or the Corpse Bride. • The whole purgatory thing is pretty heavily implied in the movie as is, no theory necessary. • And the one that bugs me the most, NBC and the CB have nothing to do with each other. Halloween Town is not for dead people but monsters and spirits associated with Halloween. Jack Skelllington didn't become their king, he always has been. Sorry if I sound snobby, but that last point bugs the heck outta me. Idk where people got the idea of the citizens of Halloween Town being dead came from.
That’s the whole thing though. You create a theory about something when you don’t know why something happens. Emily’s death is clearly explained. Her transition at the end is explained by her own words. The idea behind this video is kind of silly.
Delina Poopadoop I think it may have been that one like in NBC when Jack said "And since I am dead" which led people to beleive he was alive at one point as well as the other monsters :P
n y x during the movie in around the start whenever it shows the shadows of her waiting for barkis by the tree the song says how she was madly in love and on her wedding night she waited for him by the tree and he killed her there
A charming man (lord barkis) came to town and won over young Emily who was from a wealthy family, her father said they couldn’t get married so they decided to elope and ran away together. She stole a bag of gold and the family jewels and waited for him by a tree in the woods where he killed and robbed her.
You don’t turn into a corpse or skeleton exactly. Like when u first die u are just a blue corpse but as you are dead longer you start becoming more skeletal.
Random ghost story: A family moved into a house and they often saw the ghost of a little boy running through the house, down the stairs and disappearing into a glass door. They later learned that a little boy who used to live there had died from an injury after running into that same door. So that family (they were Roman Catholic) said a rosary for his soul (he must've been in Pugatory). He appeared one last time to say thank you and was never seen haunting the house again.
I believe her unfinished business was deeper than marriage. She believed she needed to be married to be truly happy and was holding onto to that thought for long, until she finally accepted her death and her inner peace along side of letting Victor be with the women he loved, did she truly move on and became a spirit. She found what she really needed. It was just a cherry on top that the evil douche did too and karma balanced it out. I also noticed that marriage ties into it at the end when she allowed the other girl to marry Victor and full fill her original dream. That means something to I think.
Another thought is. Why does she become the butterfly that Victor sees in the beginning of the movie ? And again the same one we see when she returns to the land of the living for the first time since she died? You should make a theory on that
I think Emily’s resolve was more along the lines of her obsessed to marriage and being loved, she was so naive and desperate for love and marriage that she let herself be swayed by a man who never loved her and then married a man she never knew and thought he was her soul mate. At the end of the movie she lets go of this and realises she doesn’t need love she lets go of her pain for her murder and lets go of her obsession to find love. She gives her blessing for victor to be happy and marry someone he loves and not her.
Annabel Lee at first they did they thought he was part of the family Maybe the death of Emily was far to painful so they tried to forget everything about it they even took all her pictures down this would also explane why "the bad guy" was so surprised that Victoria and her family are broke and why victorias mom refuses to let victoria to be in a room alone with Victor and why they seem to be disappointed in Victoria because she seems to be desperate to find true love just like her sister witch could lead down the same path with the same fate death
I honestly really wish it worked out with Emily, she deserved happiness! She has a beautiful personality, stunning looks and charisma, a tragic story And for a corpse she's so much more lively then Victoria. He liked Victoria but grew a bond and fell in love with Emily!
In the land of the dead, heck boy ain't it grand? I'm the overlord of the underworld cause I shake horror's hand, in the land of the dead, I'm dark side royalty.
It’s about time someone made a theory of this movie’s logic. I’ve been years ruminating about how the Land of the Dead actually functioned. Thank you for posting this.
Ok? Ok!
BTW my cat was after cat treats, which I only after realized were under my arm
Hi, i have another idea. What if it wasn't tied to paranorman but to frankenweenie. A boy who raised his dead dog back to life. Weenie also resembles scraps and zero
paranorman has nothing to do with victor i think. it has to be frakenweenie.
“Please watch the movie “The corpse bride” before you watch this
*Bold of you to assume i haven’t watched it 3 Million times before*
I know, right?
Before I was old enough to go to school, my grandma would always come over and watch me, and I always had her play the corpse bride whenever it was on.
Ditto
Aleena Olguin me too
That part
Mad Lawliet and she was loved. Victor was willing to die for her
Turned btterflay dies. She let's go of her Soul is finally at peace and she can move on.
Yeah...u are right
Mad Lawliet I definitely agree that this is the reason she ascends though saving Victoria from repeating her fate definitely helped
@@thepagemaster2963 but victor liked victoria too...?
I actually have a theory that Emily may have been pregnant when she died. In the scene when she is upset and laying in her coffin she's picking flowers and says "Roses, for eternal love. Lilies for sweetness." And when she gets to the 3rd bouquet of flowers she pauses for a brief moment and says "Baby's breath" kind of dejectedly. I feel like this indicates that Emily definitely may have wanted a child before she died or might have already been pregnant with Lord Barkis' child.
Again this theory is very far fetched so it probably isn't true but it's interesting to think about.
that's super smart
Hence why she was killed , because he didn’t want her to have baby and she refused to get rid of it and he chose to kill her ???
@@shakanuhglorie8444 there wasn't a way to get rid of it in the Victorian age. The technology wasn't there. You would have had to put it up for adoption
What if that’s why her side is missing? He didn’t want kids and the movie kind of glossed over it, but alluded to something evil with the shadow casting over her before she screamed.

That's what makes the story good imo. Because it kinda brings forth the gravity of the message of life and death. As viewers, marjority of us were led by the writers to root for Emily and Victor as endgame. Sadly, reality is that it was never a possibility to begin with, message bg: death is eternal and 'barrier' (till DEATH do us APART) . If anythg this story kinda mirrors real life grief or loss one wld feel from a death of a loved one. The anger we all feel/felt was probably actually underlying frustration and 'heartache' over the 'loss' ;-;
Frankenweenie, the corpse bride and The nightmare before christmas are all the same story. "Every story has a beginning middle and end not neccasarily in that order" - Tim burton
Tim Burton also said none of his movies are connected. The Burtonverse is just a forced theory made by edgy 11 year olds
Well, they are different all right, but it has one writer.
None of them are connected. There’s too many plot holes
Yup
Theres so many reasons why this is stupid
So listen to me :
Scraps is in the unfinished business underworld place because he is waiting for Victor to die and walk with him to their shared afterlife.

Vanessa Evans Not the moral of the story but ok
@Carnivorus hahaha you said the word gay you’re so funny look at me dying of laughter. get the f*ck out. Why you watching this video anyways kid.
Well victor was gonna kill himself to be with Emily so even if she is dead he would've have been dead
Tbh no one liked Victoria but at the end victor actually wanted to be with Emily
Victor and emily could’ve known each other before she died!
i love you no lord barkis looked pretty old
this movie was set in more olden victorian times, a man of any age could marry a young women. especially when marriage was usually only for money. lord barkis was Clearly an older man, maybe 30s.
lord barkis was from another town and then came to (i forgot the name) town and then almost immediately married victoria so victor couldn’t of know emily, also if they did know each other emily would of said
lmao lord barkis is 41 years old 🤮
Victor and Victoria are 18, and Emily was 19.

I have several points explaining why:

Sechmut::: It was just a theory chill

I've seen this theory in another video 🌟
But there are several plot holes in this theory that always bug me. Like, Emily's parents didn't approve of the man she wanted to marry, so it's safe to think they knew who he was. But they had no idea who lord Barkis was, and as bad of parents as they might be, I think they would've remembered him and not given off Victoria so easily.
That would be an really sweet theory since emily let victoria marry him
They would have recognized Barkis
I'm going to add to this. People say this doesn't work because the parents would have recognized Lord Barkis. However, what if they never met him? Emily could have easily just given his first name, and Lord Barks needed money, so when Emily stated that he was poor, that might be why the parents didn't approve.

If Victor is the pumpkin king then where is his queen? Victoria? In the movie he wanted to be with Victoria forever so I don't think he'd move on with Sally. Plus the pumpkin king's name is Jack, not Victor.
It could be his desendant, like his son or grandson who dies and becomes Jack and they had some unfinished buiness!
your comment makes a lot of sense, but what if victoria is still alive and he died before her? also, I believe that jack is a common name for skulls, just like 'roger' on pirate flags, so we can't be sure that it's his real name, the people of halloween town might have given it to him because of his skeleton appearance.
Maybe they call him jack because of the jack o lenter and since hes the pumpkin king
the corpse bride was taken place in the late 1800 and jack was burned alive which is shown in the beginning of the the movie also jack died BEFORE the 1800
@@alexwallace9048 Dr. Finkelstein is the guy in the wheelchair and though she was never formidably named the Pumpkin Queen in the movie you would be right. Her name was Sally and she was in love with him. He didn't realize until the end and came to the conclusion that he felt the same for her.
Everyone is making theories about Emily and Victoria and all that while i want to know how the Peter Lorre maggot got into Emily's skull and how she first reacted to him
True they are making a lot on Emily and Victoria
@@ZanyMei i don’t think he loved Emily. He just went with her Bc Victoria was going to marry someone else

i like to believe that emily’s unfinished business was a loving marriage, and even though she didn’t find it for herself, she ended up bringing victor and victoria together and that’s when she ascended
I think in the movie frankenweenie is when he's a little kid then the corpse bride is when he is an adult and the nightmare before Christmas is when he's dead
But this is just what I think
Interesting thought but Corpse Bride is supposed to be set in the 1800s though. Frankenweenie is likely set a lot more recently then that.

Careful. One guy I know lost his arm and his brother lost his whole body from something like that.
Emily stayed because she had unfinished business. It says on the wiki she would stay under that tree until she found her true love...
The wiki is not a reliable source, hun.
And probably because she was holding a grudge against the villain

The Theorizer 👏Amazing pun. 11/10
"Kitty go cray-cray"
🤣🤣🤣 why is no one talking about his cat at the end lmao
No But I Got Cheez Whiz yeah but sadly I think that if it were, people would be celebrating it. But that is a very good point
Most likely it's, because Victor and Emily we're getting married. Victor was still alive and Emily is dead, essentially opening the veil between this world and the next. If Victor did choose to kill himself and marry Emily then the veil would close and everyone would have to go back to the land of the dead.
I just assumed that they used the "ukrainian haunting spell" shown earlier in the movie.

You do realize England still had cars and lights and stuff right? we weren't a hundred years behind the US.
That's what I was thinking
i literally screamed in my pillow when i saw the ending. also, emily is the most sweetest, cutest, most honest and kindest person i would love to meet.

Sorry... o_o
Could you please check if there is anything to expose about Rango?

Oh my gosh YES
Ngl I find Victor charming in a shy spooky way.
Biggest problems with this :
• Laika had nothing to do with The Nightmare Before Christmas or the Corpse Bride.
It's just a theory meaning everything doesn't have to be accuarte or make sense since it's not confirmed or really important
That’s the whole thing though. You create a theory about something when you don’t know why something happens. Emily’s death is clearly explained. Her transition at the end is explained by her own words. The idea behind this video is kind of silly.
🤦🏻♀️
Delina Poopadoop there not dead, there monsters
Delina Poopadoop I think it may have been that one like in NBC when Jack said "And since I am dead" which led people to beleive he was alive at one point as well as the other monsters :P
"What happened to Emily?" Have you even watched the movie? They tell her story in form of a song!
What's the song say?-
n y x during the movie in around the start whenever it shows the shadows of her waiting for barkis by the tree the song says how she was madly in love and on her wedding night she waited for him by the tree and he killed her there
Have you even watched the video he's talking about last scene not the Emily's death?
The skeletons Sung it
A charming man (lord barkis) came to town and won over young Emily who was from a wealthy family, her father said they couldn’t get married so they decided to elope and ran away together. She stole a bag of gold and the family jewels and waited for him by a tree in the woods where he killed and robbed her.
"Put a ring on it"
OH OH OH OH OH OH OH O-OH OH
You don’t turn into a corpse or skeleton exactly. Like when u first die u are just a blue corpse but as you are dead longer you start becoming more skeletal.
I literally just watched corpse bride about an hour ago 😂
9:02 OMG I JUMPED SO HARD I WAS JUST PEACFULLY SCROLLING THROUGH THE COMMENTS FOR THE VID TO END THEN I HEAR THAT
This weird thing gives me like Emily reminds me of that one girl in the nightmare before Christmas. The one that loves jack.

Has anyone ever thought that emily and Victoria are sisters
Aniya Simmons woudnt their parents remember the bad guy then?
Annabel Lee at first they did they thought he was part of the family Maybe the death of Emily was far to painful so they tried to forget everything about it they even took all her pictures down this would also explane why "the bad guy" was so surprised that Victoria and her family are broke and why victorias mom refuses to let victoria to be in a room alone with Victor and why they seem to be disappointed in Victoria because she seems to be desperate to find true love just like her sister witch could lead down the same path with the same fate death
