This was a concert shortly after 9/11, it was in Carnegie Hall in New York City. They honored the first responders during the concert. Watch "End of the Beginning" from the same concert!!
On Sunday my 93 yr old mother and I sat at the kitchen table and listened to one of our favorite Gospel groups the Gaithers. the UA-cam stream popped around from the different Gaither Bands and songs. We have a lot of their albums but it was nice to hear my mom sing every song and all the movements. We had a blessed day.
the Gaither Vocal Band is the best gospel band ever...when i listen to them singing ...i hear the angels voices..David phelps and Guy Penrod, and the rest wow!!! they are the best..ilove GVB..
It was after the 9/11 terrorist strike that took down the twin towers in New York City. So many lost their lives, including many, many firemen. This concert was in their honor. By the way, the guy with the long gray hair is Guy Penrod who was a member of the Vocal Band for several years. I'm so glad you enjoyed them...I love their harmony!!!
This was done at Carnegie Hall a few months after the terrorists attacks of 9/11. Two other songs that I really enjoy from this concert are "I Pledge My Allegiance" (same group that did this song) and "A Few Good Men". David doesn't sing in this one, but they bring some of the firefighters from 9/11 on stage during part of the song. There are tears in many eyes. I think you'd like both of these songs. Thanks for your awesome comments to "Let Freedom Ring".
it was done right after 9-11. They honored the firefighters there. Guy Pernod has the long grey hair. I think the name of this video is “a Few Good Men”.
This group is amazing and I’ve been a fan and attended many of their concerts, especially David Phelps. He’s the greatest tenor in my lifetime. Their music is uplifting and the harmony is awesome. One o my favorites is THESE ARE THEY. I LOVED SEEING YOUR EXPRESSION AS THEY WERE SINGING.
what I love about David Phelps and all who work with him, is that his ego is in check. He doesn't consider himself too big to play on any platform. I've seen him in very small churches where his voice and music almost brought the walls down! His voice is epic.
It was AMAZING! Honor our servicemen, military men, firemen. long gray hair is Guy Pernod! Don’t let anyone tell that American do not love THIER Country!
Love all the Gaither Vocal Band members, past and present. David Phelps and Guy Penrod will always be my favorites, their voices are just phenomenal. So smooth and angelic in a way.
He is Guy Penrod and all the Gaithers are wonderful . Not a bad voice in the whole of them. You will never be disappointed in anything they sing. Bill Gaither is the one singing base and he is the originator of all this wonderful singing. They have something to sing about and that is what makes them great. Thanks for playing this. Mark Laurey is the comedian in the group and also has a great voice.
one of my favorite moments in this video is watching Russ Taff get all excited when David comes in... Russ has such joy about him and has had a hard life. He was traveled many miles singing.
They are always awesome, was raised on Gaithers songs a lot of amazing voices have come and gone and they just keep getting better. Thanks for sharing the song
Wow!!! Amazing performance! So powerful and uplifting I just love it when David lets rip and really goes for it! He's is awesome and Guy Penrod is really great too. This would have been incredible to witness live! 🙏 And I love your awestruck reaction!
I'm not on social media except "you tube". so glad I found you. there are hundreds of david phelps , gaither vocal band and gaither homecoming clips on you tube and lots of dvds and cds out there. sorry I'm technically stupid so I can't tell you links but you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. I'm 70. if I can do it anybody can. LOL! so glad you're enjoying the music. it's called southern gospel based on the southern gospel quartets that were so popular in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s before contemporary gospel became so popular. bill gaither has brought it back for those of us old enough to have been raised on it. hope you keep enjoying it. it preaches about Jesus and his love and salvation for all. and peace which we all pray for.
I have to tell you....The little things make the biggest difference...Your video has got me through some difficult Times during this PLANDEMIC!! This is and Uplifting, Soulshaking, Joy!!! Thank you!!!
This was a tribute to all rescuers from 9/11. I just found your page today and have watched it all day. I saw your reaction to your first David Phelps song…..welcome to his fan club 😊 He has a farm in Nashville I believe where some if the videos are from. He performs in the ‘barn’ specifically for his own personal concerts. I’ve seen him live about 3-4 times, always with the Gaither Vocal Band which have always been great. Guys rotate in and out as they become better known. Many go on to do various things. Mark Lowry joined the band several years ago….Bill Gaither was looking for a new Baritone while Mark was looking for a comedy gig. Bill didn’t need a comedian……he didn’t think, but Mark won him over, so Bill taught him how to sing Baritone and Mark stayed with Bill for many years. I don’t know if anyone has ever pointed out the piano player on many videos….like “O Holy Night.” His name was Anthony Burger, one of the best and most humble pianist ever. The Gaithers hosted cruises prior to Covid….on one of the cruises, they were in an afternoon concert. They were in the middle of a song when Anthony suddenly stopped playing…he’d had either a catastrophic heart attack, or a possible brain aneurysm while playing, and died immediately at the piano. He was an amazing pianist and a great loss. Guy Pernod is a wonderful singer and also a very humble man. David…..you said on David’s second video “No More Night”, that he was “one of the best….” but I believe he’s the best singer in our lifetime. There’s no one close to being as good as he is. He is God’s gift to those of us that love Christian music. Thank you for my afternoon watching David sing ❤️
I've watched this concert many times...the Gaither Vocal Band has the most beautiful harmony...led of course, in my humble opinion, by the miraculous voice of David Phelps!!
There is no better a vocal group than this, never has been, and won't ever be again. And this was a performance unlike any other. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest numbers of all time in any genre. Bill Gaither said that he wouldn't be able to perform this song again without David Phelps. The guy with the long hair is, in fact, a Guy Penrod, a rancher with a large family to support. He is, himself, a very fine vocalist with his own personal style. He and his lovely wife, bring up their several children in a Christian home on their ranch. You were obviously near speechless upon listening to this. What could you have said other than what you did say, "AMAZING " , because there is simply nothing to be said, just listened to and appreciated. This performance could never be duplicated or matched by anyone other than themselves.
This was filmed in Carnegie hall shortly after the 9/11 attacks in remberence of those who died, and in honor of those who survived and the first responders who were there day in and day out until every one was rescued from the rubble. This is the reason there are some firefighters in attendance at the concert.
Guy Penrod is the man with the long grey hair. He’s phenomenal, also. A song you might look into from the GVB is the live version of “Worthy the Lamb”, beautiful song and a lot of emotion.
I first heard Russ Taff when I was in high school when he was a member of the Imperials. Soulful voice, like him singing “Praise The Lord”. Of course I listen to David literally daily..
I love your reaction..Guy Penrod (long hair) is phenomenal too! All of the people behind the singers are great singers as well!! I am a big fan of the Bill gaither videos... And southern gospel music ....and all of those people behind them are all gospel singers and have great voices. This concert was made after 911 in honor of all the first responders.
That man with the grey hair and awesome voice is Guy Penrod.A song from the same caliber as Let freedom ring is It is well with my soul the version when they were in Jerusalem and Working on a building.
This song was written by Bill & Gloria Gaither. Mr. Gaither was the older gentleman on the end next to Guy Penrod (long gray hair). His wife is behind them in the first row next to Mark. If I remember correctly, Mr. Gaither said he would never perform this song again unless David was performing with them because the song "belonged" to David. He and his beautiful high notes.
Incredible! David Phelps has an extraordinary voice. You were asking about the guy with the long silver hair. He's Guy Penrod who also has an exceptional voice. The Gaither group has many great voices. Together or separately they are spectacular.
Guy Penrod and I have known each other since the early 70s when my family sang at his dads church in Las Cruces, NM. We were both about 10 yrs old then and we hit it off because we both could sing high. The last Gaither video I was a part of back in the mid 90s, I told Guy that he had won the high note singing award. My voice changed and I went to singing bass notes. Still see him every now and then when he's out on the road. Killer voice.
Let Freedom Ring is one of my favorite songs - have watched this video too many times to count, and have even had the privilege of singing it with the 300+ voice choir at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, but SEEING your reaction to it, that pure awe and emotion, brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your appreciation of such God-given talent. And speaking of God-given talent, the piano player in this, as well as David Phelps' O Holy Night that you reacted to, was the great Anthony Burger, who passed away a few years ago. He was an incredible talent as well and a miracle. He suffered severe burns to his hands when he was a little boy so the fact that he was able to play, let alone as incredibly well as he did, was indeed a miracle.
Just about everyone in the the group behind the four are beyond great singers in THIER own right. BOOTH BROTHERS are amazing, spotlight Russ Taff, one of the singers in this group ,the one in the middle, he has won 5 Grammys on his own,he is Amazing singer , The Crabb family will blow you away also.
That is the Gaithers with their 4 star performers of that time. They have an endless number of concerts, many called homecomings, from more that the last 20 years with so many star performers from the south I think. There are tours in Alaska and Israel, Australia, so many with uplifting music just like that.
The other vocalist you liked is named Guy Penrod. He too was a featured vocalist as well as Michael English before David Phelps became the current lead vocalist for The Bill Gaithersburg Gospel Group. A blessing to all who have the eyes to see and the ears to hear what the Lord is saying to us today. God bless you, stay safe and take care of you and yours during these tumultuous times that our world is experiencing. 🌎🌏🌍💫✨🌟✨💫
Guy Penrod was the first soloist. He and David Phelps had to be the greatest 1-2 punch of any quartet I’ve ever heard. They’re both soloists now with their own bands. But, to see and hear them live in the Gaither Vocal Band was simply magical. Best of all, they all believe in Who and what they’re singing about, and despite world class talents, they’re nice men.
When you said David Phelps has the voice of an angel you were absolutely correct. Angel messages are not always children's choruses or lovely soprano solos. Their voices are also powerful commands for our attention to their message. Thank you for the new perspective!
Guy Penrod(long hair) is amazing too. Listen to his version of revelation song. Although all the Gaither stuff is good. Listen to Mary Did You Know by Mark Lowry. Especially with Phelps and Penrod joining in
I've heard the gvb live a few times. It's absolutely incredible. Their big concert will be in Gatlinburg Tennessee in May. Highly recommend going if you can
It was in Carnegie Hall not long after the September 11th attacks on New York. The firefighters in the audience were first responders to the WTC attacks. I have been raised on the Gaithers, and there are so many singers on that stage who are hands down some of the best vocalists in the world. Theres is a gold mine of pure, raw (yet masterfully refined) talent there.
I’m glad you covered this song, it’s one of my favorites that they do, we need that song to be our anthem along with Star Spangled Banner 🇺🇸❣️ I get to see them next month 🤗🤗. Keep doing the Gaither Vocal Band ❣️
There is also a video where the Gaithers do this song at a command performance at the White House when President George Bush Jr. was in office. You should see the president whoopin and whistling after that performance. The above video was a memorial as well as for all first responders after 9-11.
Little history lesson here. The Philipino guy over David's shoulder, with the maroon tie, is Armond Morales. He has The Imperials which are known as the godfathers of contemporary Christian music. They started in 1963. They sang the intro song for the tv series Daniel Boone back in the 60s. They were also the backup group for Elvis for a few yrs. Russ Taff, standing by David, sang with the Imperials from the mid 70s to the 80s. I have many stories stemming from Armond to Guy Penrod and even these videos which I was a part of for about 7 yrs. Lots of memories.
This song along with many others the Gaithers sing was written by Gloria Gaither, the wife of Bill Gaither (on the right side of the four). One of my favorites
The long haired tall singer is Guy Pernod. Him and his wife had 7 sons then finally a daughter. The man between Guy Pernod and David Phelps is Russ Taff. On the end to our right is Bill Gaither. Him and his wife have written many many gospel/worship songs! He’s also the man who got the group together and has introduced us all to many hours of entertainment and worship. I never get enough of watching and hearing them all sing together and alone! I hope you continue to listen to them and be blessed!
Love this song and David's beautiful high notes! Another song from this concert is called "I Pledge My Allegiance" by the Gaither Vocal Band (the same ones that sang this song with David). Would love for you to react to that song and give your comments.
I love when Russ starts jumpin and throwing his arms around when David hit that note on LETTT towards the end❣❣❣ They're an EXPERIENCE not a concert!!! ☝️❤☝️❤☝️ R.I.P. to ALL the lives lost on that fateful day 9/11...💔😢💔
For a Gaither Vocal Band reaction, try "It Is Finished", live from the Sydney Australia Opera House in 2003. In the order of performing.. Bill, Russ, Guy, and David who brings it home with his awesome voice.
Loving the reaction videos!! I’m in Northern Ireland and our band opened foe David Phelps for all his UK shows in 2010! Belfast, Glasgow and London amazing talent! You’d like other groups like GVB look for Gold City with Tim Riley! The deepest bass singer you will ever hear! And their tenor singers are pretty amazing too!
"He's Alive" is the first song that I heard David Phelps sing....and I was hooked forever! Spent all day that day and night looking for more. The GVB produce super-special music....beautiful, stirring and so full of God's truths!
This is the link to He's Alive. It was done by the Gaither Vocal Band at Billy Graham's home and chapel as an old fashioned Tent Revival. Long Gray hair is Guy Penrod, the short guy is Russ Taff (fabulous artist) and the older guy is Bill Gaither. ua-cam.com/video/0gGa1w_bnvM/v-deo.html
We never esteem ourselves because we know we could never sing like that we can only sing like that because we gave our lives to Christ Jesus and his Holy Spirit came to live in our hearts
PG!!! Omg!! U r reacting to GVB..Guy, David, Russ and Bill!! I am going to cry!! Luv these guys..and luv u 4 more for reacting to them👏👏. Ever so often members change..ever listened to David, Michael, Mark, Bill and Wes? #GVB
Guy Penrod has the long gray hair. This was a concert following 9/11 in Carnegie Hall. They honored first responders and when the concert was over, they were able to meet all of them.
This is probably one of the finest performances ever by the Gaither Vocal Band. That note that David sings near the end is a C#5 and he just plucks it out of the air and nails it. If you go back and watch closely you will see a guy standing behind him, Jason Crabb whose eyes just go wide in disbelief at that note. "Alpha and Omega", "The Baptism of Jesse Taylor' featuring Guy Penrod, "Hide Thou Me" and "On The Authority" are some good ones to check out.
All great singers......but David is just in a league by himself. Best male vocalist in the world today.
This was a concert shortly after 9/11, it was in Carnegie Hall in New York City. They honored the first responders during the concert. Watch "End of the Beginning" from the same concert!!
Love "End of the Beginning"!
Didn't see your comment before I tyoed mine 🤭
Absolutely love all my vocal band
I got to see David sing there two years ago. Beautiful Hall. incredible concert!
what do you think are the things you need to have in an emergency kit
They were on fire that night. Doesn't get any better than to hear David and Guy singing together.
I wish I could like your comment 100 times. They are just two fantastic singers that are a true joy to listen.
Plus Russ Taff his solo was amazing in this song
Well there is his Daughter, Maggie Beth and Charlotte Richie. Just saying. But Guy is good and always humble like David.
@@joyceskelton974 this was in about 2002, after 9-11. Don't think Davids daughter was performing publically yet.
Remembering 9 eleven
I loved how Russ and Guy reacted when David hit his high note. I was absolutely astounded.
David is one of, if not the best Tenors on this earth. Miss Anthony Burger on the piano..he was one of the best pianists of all time.
You'd think at 4:20 David had done all he was going to do and then at 6:10 he just goes to another level. Amazing, Praise God.
That C#5 is otherworldly... David's vocal power is unfathomable.
The first soloist (long hair) was Guy Penrod. The second was Russ Taff. And the third was David. Bill Gaither was on the far right. Great reaction.
Gray hair was Guy. Pernod. This was preformed after 911 and saluting all the heroes from that event. That is a great song❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
the Gaither Vocal Band is the best gospel band ever...when i listen to them singing ...i hear the angels voices..David phelps and Guy Penrod, and the rest wow!!! they are the best..ilove GVB..

I agree with everyone that says we love that you are reacting to David, and now the vocal band!! Welcome to the experience!!!!!
it was done right after 9-11. They honored the firefighters there. Guy Pernod has the long grey hair. I think the name of this video is “a Few Good Men”.
Bravo!
That was just magnificent. Very very moving. The Son has made us free and free indeed!
Can you imagine the feeling in that room?
This group is amazing and I’ve been a fan and attended many of their concerts, especially David Phelps. He’s the greatest tenor in my lifetime. Their music is uplifting and the harmony is awesome. One o my favorites is THESE ARE THEY. I LOVED SEEING YOUR EXPRESSION AS THEY WERE SINGING.

Imagine us all up there singing together. Best voices and worst. God gave us the voice that will blend perfectly into His heavenly choir....Us!
Love all the Gaither Vocal Band members, past and present. David Phelps and Guy Penrod will always be my favorites, their voices are just phenomenal. So smooth and angelic in a way.

It was a concert a few months after 9/11 (In Carnegie Hall in NYC). It was exactly the right piece for that time! I cry every time I see it!
I've watched this concert many times...the Gaither Vocal Band has the most beautiful harmony...led of course, in my humble opinion, by the miraculous voice of David Phelps!!
southern gospel at it's finest....start out soft and slowly to a stand out finish. always brings one to their feet and tears to eyes.
There is no better a vocal group than this, never has been, and won't ever be again. And this was a performance unlike any other. Wow God give a golden voice to him
You have not lived if You have not heard of Gaither Vocal Band and David Phelps....Amazing !!!
Gaither Vocal Band is the premier Gospel group in my opinion. Best male voices in gospel music.
Guy Penrod is the man with the long grey hair. He’s phenomenal, also. A song you might look into from the GVB is the live version of “Worthy the Lamb”, beautiful song and a lot of emotion.

The Gaither Vocal Band is just amazing. I truly love everything they do and the message. Thank you for your true reaction and apreciation
I am praying that God wiil bless all those people involved with that song. Thank God for those voices.Praise you Lord. Amen.

I got to experience one of the Gaither concerts. What a wonderful 3 and a half hours of great music.
GVB each and every time. Singing to stir the soul. Hallelujah!
It has been so delightful to watch your reaction to a group (great soloists in their own right) that I’ve been listening to for years. Good on ya.
Hi Bruce, thanks for watching. If you check out my reactions only channel Patrol Gaming Reacts, I've just added a new David reaction yesterday.

I saw the Gaither Vocal Band in San Diego at a Billie Graham Crusade. Their voices were so powerful it gave me goose bumps.

Thank you for the new perspective!
Guy Penrod(long hair) is amazing too. Listen to his version of revelation song. Although all the Gaither stuff is good. Listen to Mary Did You Know by Mark Lowry. Especially with Phelps and Penrod joining in
David also does an amazing version of Mary did you know solo
David Phelps is my favorite singer. Jesus livre you man.
I've heard the gvb live a few times. It's absolutely incredible. Their big concert will be in Gatlinburg Tennessee in May. Highly recommend going if you can
Another wonderful song and David really puts himself into this. You just cry it builds up in your soul.
Excellent reaction to an amazing song, love your expressions. Can you imagine the FEELING in that place when they are singing?
Well.....Glory!!!!
That friend is the power of the Holy Spirit. The King is coming is a great one.
Their live versions are always so good. They just feed off the audiences
Guy Penrod is a heavy weight singer. David Phelps is the super heavyweight here. imagine BOTH on the stage together.
I've seen this exact same group in person. They were spectacular! Goosebumps on top of Goosebumps.
I’m glad you covered this song, it’s one of my favorites that they do, we need that song to be our anthem along with Star Spangled Banner 🇺🇸❣️ I get to see them next month 🤗🤗. Keep doing the Gaither Vocal Band ❣️
Love your reaction. If this doesn’t stir your soul, nothing will!
Those voices are given to his children
Keep shaking your head no shake it yes yes to Jesus Christ receive him into your heart and you will have that same rejoicing in your heart
There is also a video where the Gaithers do this song at a command performance at the White House when President George Bush Jr. was in office. You should see the president whoopin and whistling after that performance. The above video was a memorial as well as for all first responders after 9-11.
The guy with long gray hair is Guy Penrod. Look up the Gaither Vocal Band singing the National Anthem acapello. Unreal harmony they have.
I love your expression with David Phelps.
Thanks for sharing your stories!
I’ve seen them in person, awesome!!! Best gospel group ever! David and Guy are the best!!
It was at Carnegie Hall in NYC shortly after the Trade tower attacks. And the Smooth Leads name is Guy Penrod. Good day
Patrol, that song was performed in 2002 after 9/11. Great tribute. Guy Penrod is the one with the long gray hair
People need to hear this song NOW!!! THANKYOU for reviewing!
Your reactions are so genuine!
Praise be to Christ Jesus that inspires a voice like David's ! Thanks Brother, I appreciate you. More David please...
Thank you for this one! One of my favorites! Youre my favorite to watch reactions too. God bless💞
☝️❤☝️❤☝️ R.I.P. to ALL the lives lost on that fateful day 9/11...💔😢💔
Me too. He is so fun to watch!
For a Gaither Vocal Band reaction, try "It Is Finished", live from the Sydney Australia Opera House in 2003. In the order of performing.. Bill, Russ, Guy, and David who brings it home with his awesome voice.
Yes yes yes!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!!! 🙏🏽
Listen to David's "He's Alive"
"He's Alive" is the first song that I heard David Phelps sing....and I was hooked forever! Spent all day that day and night looking for more. The GVB produce super-special music....beautiful, stirring and so full of God's truths!
"He's Alive"
#GVB
I feel joy when I hear them ...praise God
Guy Penrod has the long gray hair. This was a concert following 9/11 in Carnegie Hall. They honored first responders and when the concert was over, they were able to meet all of them.
This was at Carnegie Hall after 9/11. Watch the full concert. So amazing. They did several other patriotic songs and tributes to first responders.
