I feel in love with this instrument one night while listening to Irish radio, Now I have rediscovered it I take your music with me on my headphones and walk into the mountains alone, and I feel all the culture behind me, and with me - thank you so much!
Suena tan suave y dulce como esa brisa de la mañana que te hace recordar lo efímero de todo lo vivido y lo efímero de la primavera en los pétalos de una flor
This was easy to love! You got the " pusch and pull" ( pardon my english,- I'm swedish )in the melody so absolutly spot on! Can't be better! I'm happy of listening to your play. Thanks and bravo!
Beautifully played. The Nyckelharpa is a majestic musical instrument. Thanks for introducing it to me. I love all of your videos, especially the ones in whice you explain Nyckelharpa playing techniques and talk about the tunes/compositions' history and origin.
@@EmelieWaldken I’m interested in potentially getting into learning how to play one. I know of a guy in the United States who builds them for people, but can I ask a little bit about how do you tune it if it gets out of tune? How do you maintain and care for it when you have no one around besides yourself? And perhaps most importantly? Where or how do you find and write sheet music for it?
@@usaskjock The tuning is not that difficult at all =) - The playing strings (4 big ones on top) are tuned C-G-C-A traditionally (I tune C-G-D-A for more versatility). From the closest one to you to the one closest to the fingers. Same range as a viola. - The resonance strings can have various tunings but the idea is to have the 12 half-tones of the full chromatic scale. Many people start on a G or G# and then go chromatically all the way. Basically any schema works as long as the strings are tensed just enough. For maintenance I highly recommend turning to a violin builder, or a good guitar builder. They might open weird eyes at first but they can help a lot. A hurdy-gurdy maker can help too, especially about the keyboard. Find other nerds ! Many can do some maintenance themselves and can help you. Also join some FB groups about the instrument for any question you might have ! You can play pretty much everything on nyckelharpa, so any sheet music of what you want to play will do =) G-clef (soprano) it is, or possibly viola clef if your nyckelharpa has 4 rows and therefore a viola range. Note that as it's a folk instrument we usually play entirely by ear, without sheet music (but many people do use sheets when needed).
I love all your lessons! You help me learn these wonderful tunes so much faster. I have my nyckelharpa for exactly one year now and have been learning for a few months last summer, but this past months I had great fun working with you and other talented musiciens, practicing and perfecting bowing technics. Not an easy instrument, but I like a good challenge. Thank you Emilie for your lovely presentations!
Thanks for your so nice compliment Anicet ! Nyckelharpa isn't the easiest instrument indeed, but it's also very generous and feels (to me at least) always so eager to please, somehow ^^ Have a great time with it !
Thanks well I'm a pro ;) I have tried playing on a hardingfele once, it's definitely on my list of instruments I'd like to have, learn and play ! I love the sound of it, and the repertoire associated to it.
The tunes I teach in my Scandi Folk Tunes videos, I give the scores for on my Patreon. Klinten, however, is a tune composed by Markus Svensson and therefore he is the only one holding the rights to its score =)
@@EmelieWaldken- OK, I managed to understand that as I found out who he is. Anyway I love the piece but it's too hard for me at the moment ! However this afternoon I visited your patreon site and "normally" subscribed, (e mail and bank identity, photo etc). I really like the pieces you use for your first lessons. However now I've done that how on earth do I accede to the scores? They don't say anything about that afterwards. And they give no access code either! I don't really understand how it all works! All they ask me is to say who else's work I like and give reasons. It feels a bit as though subscribing was a waste of time. I can only hope it all works out in the end! So here I am listening to the #1 piece, Harjedalen schottisch and writing it all down myself! I also spent all morning trying to understand all the Swedish written on the Wikifolk site, with a dictionary! I don't know if I got very far! Is there no way on the mobile of getting Google to put it all into English? No button to push? It would be so much easier! I've been working hard non stop all day! And still am! All help is truly welcome! I wish you a peaceful evening!

Haha well it's composed by a Swedish musician, in Sweden, on a Swedish instrument, but it is a "scottish" so... I guess one can hear what they want in it ^^

Super d'avoir construit ta propre nyckelharpa ! Quel beau projet ! Maintenant c'est la "récompense" : jouer dessus. Bien du plaisir dans ce 2e chapitre !
I emigrated from Sweden 10 years ago and as soon as I hear a keyfiddle I just feel so warm inside. The most Swedish sound i know.
I love hearing the nyckelharpa.
I've never heard a nyckelharpa before. So beautiful!❤
In a place where I grew up, there is a hill I used to climb everyday. The view from the video reminds me of it :)
This is music for the soul
I appreciate how you include talks and education on the songs you play but i also appreciate uninterrupted beautiful playing like this one!

That's such a nice comment, and nyckelharpa and mountains are one of the best combos ;) Thank you
This music is amazing! It reminds me of Kevin Burke and Micheal O Dhomnaill's recording of Promenade.
Fascinating instrument!
Well, that is completely breath-taking. Thank you for making the world more beautiful.
Wowm that's a compliment going straight to my heart, as contributing to the world's beauty is one of my main goals in life ! Thanks a lot !
It makes me want to dance. So beautiful to lessen to.

well ... the original composition is actually played one fifth higher.
