Well done in every respect. Great feeling for the Swedish music and outstanding video. Please make lots more.........If you ever need someone to add durspel, give me a shout!
Thank you for your comment. The sound was recorded in the studio (Fuaime Studio, The Netherlands) and the video was recorded with an iPhone. The polska is one of many tunes learned from Magnus Holmström who is a very good and inspiring teacher.
Hello DSLRMusic, The capo is on the 7th fret and the tuning is: GDAD without capo. With the capo on the 7th fret the notes are:DAEA. I can send you the chords if you like.
I feel like I have to accept a quest from the Guild Master now.😉 But, seriously this is epic. I can't believe it's been here for 7 years and I never saw it. I absolutely love that nyckelharpa by the way!!
Hey man, just one more question. Which tuning did you use for the bouzouki/mandola? And at which fret is it capoed on? I'm trying to play this on the mandola, but I can't seem to get it this way... I'm using GDgd tuning, by the way. Thanks!
WHO ARE THE MUSICIANS HERE? OH I SEE IF YOU CLICK MORE YOU FIND OUT! Musicians: Jenny van Diggelen - Flute .....Guy Roelofs - Nyckelharpa, bouzouki, guitar, Udu
I love this tune so much. I found the music for the melody, and the group I belong to play this tune now that I shared your great version with them, but I've had to do my best to guess at the chords you use. I would really love to see your chords, if you had a moment. Mange takk!
@@GuyRoelofs Very nice music, I love polska. But this one (like others found on UA-cam) seems a bit quick to dance to. I'm in France and I don't know the polska repertoire very well. Is it possible that some like these are not written to be danced? I also understood that some polskas were not in three beats (sometimes 5?). I don't know if this is true and what dance variations go with it. Can you tell me more about this? (I have just realized this video was published a long time ago)
I absolutely love this style, song and sound... Gets me relaxed every time! Is there anyway I can get a decent quality playable file? (Not YT downloader quality, aybe FLAC or mp3?) 'Harjedalen Schottis' and 'Polska efter Carl Erlandsson' too if possible :D
Everything is perfect ! I love the sound of the wooden flute (is it an irish flute ?), especially the trembling effect ! But the other instruments do equally well, and the nyckelharpa is a wonderful invention !
I found notes to this @www.folkwiki.se/Musik/365. The 4th and 12th measures have F# in the ascent but it does not seem that you play it that way. Am I correct or mistaken?
Hello Taurotar, This is the version that i learned from Magnus Holmstrom, a nyckelharpa player from Sweden. He plays F-naturals only. The version on folkwiki is a different version of the same tune. Pick the version you like best!
Mary Harder it is trad. No known composer. 1700s or first half of 1800s is my guess. It was passed on by a spelman from Hälleforsnäs, County Södermanland
This is such a great piece and I wish I could learn the flute melody for a class I have on folk music from around the world. Would it be possible for me to look at the sheet music? Are the udu and bouzouki typically used in Swedish polskas though? I could give you my email if you would be willing to send me the sheet music
+Kimberly Steininger Hello Kimberly, No, bouzoukis and udu's are not part of the mainstream instruments in Sweden as far as i know. Lot's of fiddle and nyckelharpa though. Please send me your email, and i will send you the sheetmusic.
Any chance I could get the sheet music too? pjohnbird@gmail.com. Would like to try to learn it on the recorder. This is a beautiful arrangement, thank you.
Thanks so much! A fiddle player friend wants to do it with me. It (according to my guitar) is in A. So that would be DADGAD capo 7, right? Lovely touch on the guitar! I was reminded of Michael O'Domhnaill.
Yes the capo is at the seventh fret. I can send you the sheetmusic with chords if you are interested. I'm a big fan of Michael O'Domhnaill's playing...............
My family is from Halleforsnas, I never thought I'd stumble across anything from that little town online! This is lovely music!
Absolutely beautiful, Guy and Jenny! Great atmosphere. It breathes the north of Europe, a part of the world I have always loved..

I really like Swedish music, especially nyckelharpa.
Very good! I love your choice of instruments, the Udu goes very well with scandinavian folk. I hope there'll be more videos soon :)
I see this was posted a while ago, but wanted to say it’s wonderful! Great tune and playing:)
Thanks for the compliment! We will posting a new one, but it can take a few weeks before it's finished........

I keep coming back to this video in the last few days to listen to you again and again. As I already said some time ago, really great playing!

Nice. I also learned this from Magnus this past year. I play it regularly on my nyckelharpa.
Awesome work. I love the composition: each instrument has a defined place and it´s overwhelming only in a good way :D

Oh, that's fantastic!
Thank you, E Gordon!
