From what I understand this is something to do with powder coatings in general. I had a black set of Cobra 909's and they did the same thing. I have a chrome set of hacker mayhem turnouts on my bike and rust hasn't been an issue. I agree with you on their customer service, the lady who I spoke too a while back almost scoffed at the fact I didint want to use their tuner.
I bought a set and had to spend another 300 to have them ceramic coated. Their customer service sucks Mine peeled off after 2 days riding not what I was expecting from a 900 exhaust
They sound awesome make great gains they told me I would have to send them back and they would replace them but I waited 6 months so I took care of it myself

Where did you get those black upper fork covers?
This is due to improper mapping. It’s burning way to hot due to excessive gas or air (likely gas).
