    Wow! Gosh- Love the new corporate K LINE Livery choice for there PCC Vessel's & hopefully all there new build's in the future, it's also great to know that there making a Responsible push & implement of renewable tech on there vessel's.. New livery once again looks Uniquely original as always, when ever they end up eventually changed it.

    There's another UA-cam clip about this ship, unfortunately narrated in Chinese or Korean or some other language I don't understand - but it shows pictures of the engine, which looks a lot to me like a piston engine - which is unexpected for a "solar" ship.
    Hmmm ...

    • @melchorchan1442
      @melchorchan1442 7 років тому +5

      Of course, the ship is equipped with an internal combustion diesel engine. The solar panels is only good for LED lightings of the vehicle decks!

      That's what I thought - so the title of the video is pure click-bait.

      In my opinion the solar power energy synchronize mix electric power to the diesel generator to reduce the consumsion of the fuel.

      In my opinion, the clip has the wrong title. The one it has, "World’s largest solar energy Ship-DRIVE GREEN HIGHWAY" is totally misleading.

    just think, whats the most slippery surface? ice. so. have the ships skim over ice at incredible speeds, in tunnels.

    Engine @ 1.30 . its not a solar powered ship . its got slow speed 9 cylinder monster of an engine .

    Very small surface area used for its solar. The area lost by the helipad is massive. Can the ship use port power or run on solar while in port vs running its bunker oil engine as most ships do. Not much hull innovation. Like to have seen vertical wind turbines, hull aeration to cut hull drag and more innovation in screw design. In theory the best green design would be making most of these cars in the target country vs shipping it thousands of miles on a cargo 🛳

    There not even enough solar panels on the ship to power all the lights.

    • @melchorchan1442
      @melchorchan1442 7 років тому +3

      Yes, the energy from the solar panels is only for the LED lights of the vehicle decks but LED uses less energy.

      I think many ships have used big electric motors for a long time, the diesel engine is just a generator.

    • @donkoh5738
      @donkoh5738 6 років тому +1

      Justice -- it's not stupid you moron ; p Any progress towards significantly reduced NOx and Sulfur oxide released into air is positive step !!
      And regarding 'nuclear powered' ships, sure they are non-emitting, but they are substantially more expensive and will require additional expensive *decommissioning* after service life, including the need to safely transport and store the spent fuel somewhere... there's always a trade-off. There are probably better options coming to the market in next 5 yrs anyway, so no worries ~

    • @milos3837
      @milos3837 6 років тому +1

      Why not build huge container ship with solar panels on top and underwater hull chargers which charge ship battery when it's moving by water drag?
      Electric is the future, we don't want more nuclear disasters and pollution.

    • @donkoh5738
      @donkoh5738 6 років тому +1

      Милош interesting concept to further explore regarding hull charging potential.

    • @milos3837
      @milos3837 6 років тому

      My idea is based on electric wave powered boats with hydro generators. I think if ship had small turbines attached to it's hull it can generate electricity while moving, because solar panels would not provide much power on their own, the only downside is extra drag and reduced cruise speed. Ofc a new type of hulls could be designed to hide turbines and limit the drag but that requires extra research, time and money.

      What cars would India be exporting in this volume? Where are the massive commercial dry docks in india to make such massive ships. Does india make high quality steel in this volume? So if the answer is not yet, the answer is no chance. Better to use your solar to give a lightbulb or just reliable power to your citizens much less a ship. If you're cutting off power in a heatwave then you have bigger problems
