my lp5x with the stock vm95e sounds great on my Yamaha rx-z1's phono preamp (2003 flagship receiver) to my Elac Dbr62 + Polk audio HTS12 sub. Amp is set to stereo analog.
It's a very good turntable. I hate channel imbalance. Thankfully, I have all the VM series styli and have not had any channel balance problem. My favourite cartridge at present with the LP5X is the Nagaoka MP200. but as you say everything sounds great with this turntable. If you want something simpler and automatic the AT LP60 is a fine choice. Is that Concord cartridge contained within its own headshell?
Yes it's an all-in-one unit, if you're unfamiliar with the Concorde style that's how they are. On an s-shaped or a j-shaped tone arm they mate up well without having to worry about alignment. I've actually been quite happy with the Concorde, I was thinking maybe I wouldn't care for it but it's been quite nice and very surprising
In my secondary system I have the AT-VM95ML/H, and also the AT-VM95C/H for polystyrene 45s. These are on a Technics SL-1200GR2 and I haven't had any issues with either one. It would be interesting on yours to swap out the stylus to see if that could be the problem. Anyway, nice review.
@@chrislj2890 yeah it's hard to say to be honest with you, truthfully I'm not keeping the turntable, I simply got it to review it. That doesn't mean I don't like it or anything of the sort, it's a fantastic turntable 100% and just like I said in the video I really think it sets the bar, in my opinion, at its price point. But yeah like I said there's just talk on the interwebs of the newer VM series having issues, whether that is related to the cartridge itself or the stylus or people just aren't setting up their tables correctly And having problems. One of the most crucial things you can do on a turntable and I try to stress this to people if they ask, is make sure your turntable is level, and not just the table itself but the platter is level, because the actual plinth can be unleveled but the platter itself is leveled. Anyway thanks for watching and thanks for commenting and also thanks for subscribing
Hallo. Nice review. What about the alignment of Concorde with this specific tonearm? Is it correct? I've read that Concorde are made to fit perfectly and be aligned for Technics S shaped tonearms. And what about Inner Groove distortion. Thank you in advance.
@@gianneastube yeah I worried about that myself, but took a chance and I don't notice any issues with it. Over the two weeks I've had the cartridge I don't notice any problems with igd or other issues with it. For all intents and purposes it seems to be a good fit and works well. Besides if there had been any issues with the alignment of the cartridge I would have mentioned it.
@gianneastube actually I think it's a great pairing, and like I said in the video it has a more balanced sound over what comes with the lp5x. The vm95e on the lp5x has more of a mid-range bump where the Concorde does not. Also I mentioned in the video that the new Concord music series is essentially The 2M series which is true, but the sound is different. The biggest difference I can describe is the Concorde runs a bit hotter and has a bit more gain out of it and also I feel like, and I could be imagining it because it's been awhile since I've heard a 2m red, but I feel like the Concorde red has a more driving sound, like a faster sound. I'm a fan I think at its price point and with the ability to swap styluses all the way to the black, as long as you've got a tone arm that supports it, it's One of my new favorite cartridges. Anyway thanks for commenting and thanks for watching

Great, Audio Technica makes fine cartridges no doubt
Glad to know that the issue was with the cartridge. The lp5x is looking good with the concorde red. Might consider that combo in the future

I couldn't say I haven't heard it
