These to 9fs starting off together was the best I’ve ever been near ,the noise of these two engines was unbelievable I’ve always loved steam train but this was simply wonderful ,more please
Wonderful I was at the station that day and saw these two engines for myself ,it was wonderful :I now can watch this on Marsh steam videos as many times as I like great
Wow, this is new! Never saw this when I were a lad, just one pulling a quarter of a mile or so of coal wagons through Harpenden Junction to London. Great stuff.
Thank you, very impressive stirring stuff. I have it in the back of my mind that I rode behind double headed 2-10-0's at the North Norfolk railway about 3 years ago. I think they were going up the Kelling bank in a spirited way just like this.
What a smashing video! We’re very lucky that someone had the foresight to save all of this - the stations, the line, the 9Fs, and rolling stock. It still grieves me though that the GCR is mostly lost; what a wasted opportunity. Earlier this year I went to take a look over at Calvert, the last of the island stations, Verney Junction on the Varsity Line nearby, and the bridges at GCR Finmere. Presumably all gone by now, replaced by new lines, which I should see as a huge positive, yet I do miss the history.
Cheers Steve, just imagine the crowds if we ever get one of these on the mainline. Yes, light was great. We'd got ripped off earlier so this made up for it. Hope you're well, we might see you for Tornado & Scotsman later this month ! Your favourite locos lol
Stirs great memories of once standing on Llandudno junction station when a double headed passenger express for Holyhead thundered through and the whole station was shaking. What a feeling and we were standing a few platforms away waiting for a train for Betws y Coed.
A bit of a waste of power there , they say power corrupts , so corrupted we are by 2 9fs ! The 9f was ahead of its game , known to be capable of over 90 mph whatever the load , should be allowed back on mainline , they have the power and traction aswell as the speed , I am sure , if one is pushed it will do the ton like Tornado did pushed .

I return to this video periodically, it is very good. Two 9F's, amazing lighting, amazing sounds. Lovely stuff
Superb video, watching those two 9Fs departing against the black sky is priceless.

Exquisite! Thank you for capturing this wonderful footage and sharing it with us! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! Superb footage, perfect sky and lighting for the occasion. What a treat to see the double headed 9Fs!
WOW. That sight was rare back in the day and never thought that I'd see it again. Thanks for posting.
Good god, Imagine how many wagons they could pull in a double header.
This is a spectacular recording. I can't stop watching it! Thank you!
Nigel Mansel would have been proud of that get away!! And that black sky set of the picture beautifully. Filling, thanks for sharing, 😀😀
Super power. Excelent video. I was once on a triple castle hauled train, from Crowcombe Heathfield to Minehead on the WSR. Around 23 + years ago
Fantastic video Liam. Well worth the stop over. What a stunning sight. Great departure. Kind regards C&A

Awesome piece of photography and a fine example of raw power!!

I just double checked, it was the Black Prince 9F and WD 2-10-0 at the 2019 Autumn NNR gala.
Stunning filming! Super power! They took that train out fast! Great locos!
I watched other videos of the gala and did not see the double headed 9fs so glad fianily someone captured it😊💪🏻

Ahh that must be NYMR's 9f as it has the single chimney
Beautiful shots of them double heading 👍
(I really must visit GCR one day)
The light was just perfect, great timing, great video!
Glad you liked it!
Great to see both 9fs working double heading with 92134 a visitor from Yorkshire meeting the GCR resident of 92214
What an absolutely epic sight! Thank you for capturing this ^_^
Brilliant Liam , raw power on display there and fantastic light as you panned round 👍

Great startup that sure made for a great video! Thanks for sharing that!
Hi Phil & Liam, Yes did enjoy, Cheers ....Dave
Magnificent! The only limits to the number of passengers is probably the length of the platform at the stations.
Wow! Great video. Right place at the right time. Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant footage, well done
Great power on show, wonderfull light for you, great video .
Cheers Stephen, the weather cleared just in time.
Jezus Mary Joseph and the wee little donkey, that's a lot of horsepower for 6 poxy Mk1's!
18F power for 6 coaches, wow!
Yes, a bit daft though its very rare to see them paired together.
Wonderful video, looks great :)
It's a pity they cannot do Shap like this? Doubleheader with 18 on? Thanks and I live in Newcastle Australia. Well filmed.
love the 9 Fs my favorite British engine i bet 2 of those can pull 100 freight cars
man i wished i can see atleast one vid of the 9fs speeding on the mainline if it weren't for those wheels
1:47 WOW, sounds like cannon fire!
92134 it did borrow the 73050’s tender before goes back to service again soon.
Raw power!
Super power!
Awesome sight and sounds. Bit of overkill for a six coach train but awesome nonetheless.
I spect the passengers had wip lash
Locomotivele sînt pentru trenuri de marfă ? Au cîte 5 roți motoare . O D din Comănești - Romania .
I would just love to see a 9F pulling heavy goods train.
There is one - somewhere, of a 9f pulling 1000 tons from a stand. - - - Do/should I know you? We share the same surname!
@@hamshackleton Excellent! I don't think I know you... but the world is a small place and Bray isn't a hugely common surname.
@@peterbray5383 Just watched your one and only vid of the dogs paddling.

1:52 let’s be honest, that’s what we all came for!
I had to check if I didn't leave the playback speed at 1.75 when it launched ! :O
You got the Standard 5 too. Not my cup of tea, but nice all the same.☺🙃

They could have put a decent load behind them! A nice 10 or 12 stock! Overkill is an understatement. Good capture though.
Yes, though the gradient would still pose no challenge, one for archive but I thought it was worth a share due to glorious light on show
@@MarshSteamVideosTM Too right even with 10 or 12 on the GCR they still wouldn't be making a sweat. Super power for you!

Shame 9Fs are barred from the mainline. I would imagine a 9F double header could handle 30 coaches easily
