    Vanced doesn't need root to run. On non-root devices, Vanced can run with microG. Also, while home ad blocking is great, the experimental SponsorBlock API within Vanced allows you to skip certain segments automatically within videos, such as creators asking for subs, sponsored parts of videos, etc.

    Titanium Backup sadly doesn't work that well on newer android versions. Sometimes it can't backup certain apps or restore backups as it used to in the KitKat era. I think the best alternative is the Migrate, which lets you backup almost your whole system into a zip file that you can flash back with the app.

    • @m0lDaViA
      @m0lDaViA 2 роки тому

      It's not, because it has 1 big problem. If you backup your phone and you install another rom you're not be able to restore your backups because swiftbackup backups can only be restored at the same rom. So if you reset your phone, it will work, but if you install the same rom again, because something crashed it, then you're not be able to restore your backups.

    So many Android phones have a locked bootload. It's a real gut wrencher when you find out your digital chum is un rootable. However, I must say that various companies will offer a free option to allow you to have an unlock code to use via fastboot etc. Just a shame that other companies don't. But you have done a super job of explaining the details and apk available. Thumbs up and keep up the great work. This is priceless knowledge to behold when people realise how powerful their phones become when unlocked and able to be free to tweak.

    A couple of these things can now be done without root:
    1. Vanced can be used without root, but rooted version seamlessly replaces the UA-cam app which is great.

    I actually just switched from a Galaxy S10 to a Pixel 4XL "Google Edition", for 2 main reasons. 1) Bootloader unlockable -able to flash custom roms, kernels, recoveries - and 2) I love a really big high res screen without any of that notch BS. I have bricked this phone in one week more than I've brushed my teeth every day but nowadays there are actually mainline tools to repair or recover, and since it is an unlocked variant it is still modifiable after the fact. Lot of trial and error but I finally did it, and honestly... I used my OnePlus 5T as a guinea pig before I attempted my Pixel.

    In my personal experience, rooting phones has been something that I’ve done more out of necessity rather than fun. Android manufacturers just have this absurd habit of not giving control to the buyer, us. Therefore we can’t tune our phones the way we want in detail. I am honestly one who plays with CPU and GPU frequencies. I don’t root solely for Android versions, as with root, you give up most of the security anyways. iPhones are even worse, but at least they operate in a very optimized ecosystem and a when you run games, they will actually give you all the performance they can as long as the temperatures allow it. Android scales frequencies in such a jerky manner (Save for ROG Phone, that is a godsend and an example of how all Android phones in depth controllers should be). More modern Android phones are becoming far harder and less rewarding to root. OnePlus and Xiaomi remain easy. But Samsung is getting harder and if you root, they disable your camera. Probably the most rewarding phone I’d ever suggest anybody to root though, it’s the N960F. That is the walking definition of why I root out of necessity. By rooting and installing a custom kernel on it (as long as you are on One UI 2.0), you can get performance so high as the Exynos 9820. Samsung messed up badly with the 9810, and refuses to fix their mistakes, so we have to do it ourselves.

I have an old S7 Edge ( haven't had it activated in years), also have a newer one just for a backup # ( J3 prime, truly a piece of junk) and thought I'd use the 7 ( or the 3) to experiment on since I haven't rooted a phone before. 1. For youtube vanced you only need vanced manager. the rooted version has more advantage but if you're not a root user or you don't want to risk bricking your phone with the root access, you can go to their website and download the vanced manager.
    2. if you don't want ads in your phone app without rooting, starting from android 9 you can always use adblocking DNS that's blocking the ads server address.. this will block 99% of the ads. even free apps with so much intrusive unskippable ads won't show ads. since they cannot access the ad server.. most apps does not run ads on their own server and just code a hotlink to show an ad content provided by adservers. this is why you see same ads across apps. the adblocking DNS will block access to these ad providers so your app will not be able to show ads no matter how intrusive and unskippable they were coded as long as the app is using these well known external ad providers. the exceptions are in-house-ads which usually offers a pro or upgraded version of the said apps since these ads aren't connected to an external ads servers. you can search what ad blocker dns is best in your country. the downside is you can't access targeted ads when you're planning to buy something. they still show up in the search results in google but when you click it you can't access it.
