Adam talked about how tricky the lead-foil was to get on his YT-channel.
They had an US-maker of lead-foil that promised them the thickness they required for the myth but they actuall broke their equipment trying to get the lead rolled that thin. They then found the German company who not only made them the foil as thin as they needed it, but I think 30% thinner than that.

I dont know where i heard this, but either adam or (likely) jamie once said that lead balloon is what truly inspired them up to that point in the show. Before, they felt that they would just be doing explosions and a few wacky builds here and there, but for the most part you could tell how a myth would go from the start, and/or that the show probably wouldnt last long bc they would run out of myths that were possible to test and people would get bored. But when they made the lead balloon, something that by all accounts should have been impossible, it showed them that nothing was beyond their attention, or their ability. It showed them that they could really work some magic on the show, and that nothing should be underestimated in the Mythbusters workshop.
I miss this show greatly. I'm sad that the new version never took off, i had high hopes.

I'll be honest I'm sad the new one didn't take off but at the same time glad because I really didn't feel like the hosts they picked were good and it just felt like closer to school science fair stuff and advertising for tool brands so in a way I'm glad they cancelled it when they did because it just didn't feel like mythbusters with those guys and hearing new news about mythbusters would have just made me sad remembering it's different, kinda like when I see Alice in chains on a lineup, I get so excited and then realize again Layne is dead and it's not Alice in chains anymore, he is a massive part of what made them so amazing

Leed balloon is Adam's favorite myth. Jamie was initially hesitant to do the story but it clicked into place for him during the small scale build.
The lead foil took a year and a half to procure. Two times they had a supplier say they could roll the foil thin enough and both times they broke their machines trying. Jamie himself ended up sourcing the foil from the German manufacturer. They were able to roll the lead foil thinner than Jamie specified and provided the foil for free.

@pyramear5414 and the thing is while you could absolutely make a few atom thick sheet of lead through like vapor deposition or something like that but trying to actually use it for anything at that point wouldn't work cause there wouldn't be enough to hold itself together not on a surface

Adam said during a Tested episode that Jamie wasn't really into this myth until they got hold of lead foil thin enough and managed to have a prototype floating in the air. It's hard working on a project for which you see no future and it's not always because of a lack of interest. Sometimes all the available facts point towards it just not working out, so you don't want to invest any effort or passion. Props to anyone who is then willing to completely change their tune when it looks that the project may be worthwhile afterall.

Judging by some of the most-watch portions of these videos suggest people are fast-forwarding past the Keri/Tori/Grant bits, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought they added nothing to this show.

It's funny watching the obvious fake videos now that fooled a lot of people back when they were made years ago. The surfing video is so obviously faked with jump cuts it's laughable.
