I love my Prusa Mk3 -- but I don't even care what you make... I want Josef Prusa to run *every* company. That was incredibly genuine. Clearly a lot of smart folks working there, and awesome stuff happening. I bet (hope!) your employees all love you, I'm quite sure I would.

Mine has been absolutely fantastic, I have no regrets about it at all. You won’t be able to truly appreciate just how good this printer is until you start reading forum posts about print settings for a certain material and then realize that a lot of the problems other people have just don’t apply to you because you have a better printer. What’s even better is that the i3 MK3 is extremely upgradable, so if you’re like me and enjoy pushing the limits of how fast, big, or precise you can print, the sky is basically the limit.
Speaks pounds about the printer when they have so many they use internally to create more of itself! I have seen others take this tour but its awesome to see no matter how many times I see it...;) Plus Josef is the real deal and that is very rare to see these days, hope he never changes!
That did it! I'm no longer in any doubt what brand of 3D-printers to aquire for a high-profile prototype R&D project. Actually a very high-profile client so the selection of machines, materials and tools are of utmost importance. Thanks for the video tour of the Prusa plant!
This factory tour and interview with Josef is what convinced me to spend more for a Prusa i3 MK3S+ over other brand printers 8 months ago. That choice has proven to be a wise one. My printer runs over 30 hours a week and with only the suggested regular maintenance has been 100% reliable, not one hiccup or problem. Thank you @Prusa 3D by Josef Prusa and everyone who works with you for your dedication to quality and your customers.
Another fantastic look at what goes into each Prusa printer. I am so happy that I bought the MK3S kit from Prusa. It has been a printing workhorse with minimal maintenance required. I am a total 3D printing newbie, but I have learned so much from this channel and Prusa's videos. I have gone through a few spools of PETG and PLA now with only a few issues (mostly caused by me). I loved the 100K printer anniversary documentary.
It’s really smart to 3D print some of the pieces. Not only is it more efficient and cost effective, but it shows the real world case of using 3D printers and it allows users to print that object at home .
I watched this, and....I just can't get enough of these guys! Prusa, you are going to get a lifetime customer out of me. I started with Creality and I don't want to knock them, or their printers, but I can tell that you truly care about each and every product. This will be money well spent with a product that works!
I really like the approach to quality control with Prusa. Makes them very sympathetic for me as a customer. And their printers truely are reliable. The tracking of their production line is really good. Everything is labeled. Saves you a ton of headaches later. I can tell from practice.
I have had my Original Prusa i3 MK2 for quite a long time now (December 2016) and I am super happy with it - very few print failures, lots and lots of happy print success. I might get the upgrade kit to turn it into a MK2.5S at some point, but the results I still get out of the stock machine are SO good that I have not felt the need to do it yet. But for that nicer removable print bed and better extruder setup it is probably a worthwhile upgrade. It makes me super happy to see the company continue to succeed and thrive without cutting corners on quality or on their general "being nice" skills.
Very impressive testing and QC. This is what I like to see from a company when buying their products. I especially appreciate that they use their own products to make their own products. The is the best QC of all!
Great video Joel! Two great guys enjoying promoting the real Prusa world. What a factory and what impressive detail in the manufacturing process! As a user in the UK, my Mk3s(formerly Mk3) has hundreds of hours under its nozzle through daily use and its consistent performance is testament to the Jo Prusa team's efforts! Thank you Jo and Joel for that great insight!
Perfect timing Joel. I got my MK3s package yesterday and putting it together this weekend. I got a roll of Prusament Galaxy black PLA from Amazon so I will be printing soon!
Absolutely stunning! 500 printers in the farm room, 400 elsewhere in the building. And Making filament in-house too. Wow that would be so cool to see in person :D :D
Epic video made even better given that DHL will be delivering my new MK3S kit any minute! I've built my own printers for years and I finally decided I wanted a no-nonsense workhorse machine and also wanted to support Josef. I really appreciate how Josef and his team continue to advance the industry and haven't sold out to big business, like some others. Keep it up!
My lab just bought and installed 39 of these Prusa 3D printers. It's awesome & I have 24/7 access to the facility. I recently 3D printed some low-profile bull horn speaker housings for a 100W horn driver using the Prusa i3 MK3S :D
Just want to say that, while I have always been curious about these printers, I have never really WANTED one until NOW! This level of attention to detail is absolutely AMAZING! I respect Prusa and his monitoring of the the complete process in order to make the best printer that he can and track where issues in vendor-supplied come from. This is AMAZING!
First - thanks for watching! Second - isn't it amazing to see? Jo Prusa has more than 430 employees all doing jobs, and he seems to know, down to the nitty gritty detail, what each job entails. You can easily see how much he cares not just for his products, but for his employees.
The PRUSA"S are nice little printers, and can perform excellent print quality. Thank you Josef and 3d printer NERD DUDE for this wonderful video!!! Fact: don't buy a kit unless you know a little about hardware, software and electronic's! UNLESS YOU LIKE PAIN!!! THEN GO FOR IT!!! Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and tears and buy the pre-assembled model if you can, you will thank me later!!! Why do I say this, I have a small 3d printer store and print farm........ about 3 to 5 times a week I get a call from kit owners or customers in my store and they are crying(real tears) because they can't get a good print from there kit. Most calls are from the younger crowd and there crying about how they saved there money for a long time to but a 3d printer and now they have a paper weight!!!........I hate it when that happens!!!
Excellent tour! I'm amazed they used 3D printed parts for all of their factory jigs and test equipment. I mean, it's kind of obvious since they are a 3D priniting company but it still astonishing.
Holy crap, so glad to see this video, what a treat! Extremely interesting!!! Makes me so happy that my MK3S+ is on the way to me now! WOW so impressive of what PRUSA is doing, just incredible.
Despite his success Josef Prusa is still grounded and focuses on innovation and supporting new ideas with the Lab. That's really great and another reason for buying my new printer from Prusa! Props to you, mate!
You should ask Josef if you can bring your girls over in the Spring for Pomlázka. A college friend and his daughter found themselves in Prague during the festival and found the eperience unique. Also, if you go over during Christmas, see if you can get some oplatki.
I love the fact that they are running a farm it's probably not the most efficient (injection molding is faster and cheaper and they have the volume for it ) but the r&d benefits must be insane
Thanks Joel, for taking us through the Prusa Company. Love Prusa printers, going to try get one with my Christmas bonus, then review it. Love the farm with the "Farmers", brilliant. Well done Josef, what a great story to your success.
I thought of personally picking up my new MK3S printer. But don’t know it it’s possible. What an amazing production plant! The community lab they have is really incredible! That is like heaven on earth. I really wish we would have something like that where I live. I really love that they are willing to give back so much to the community
Fascinating. I used a Prusa at our MakerSpace for years. Had to buy Creality for myself though because I needed the 300/300 bed, but would have preferred Prusa for sure. Seeing their whole setup has been cool!
You gotta love how Mr. Prusa gives back to the developing community in Prague and the 3D printing community in general... My next 3D printer IS a Prusa !! And Good Job on the interview Joel !
Quite simply an awesome factory with some amazing automation, part tracking, quality assurance, the works! This is how all plants should be run. Something tells me it took quite some time to get to this level, but well worth the investment I'm sure.
Super impressive! Now i know why my mk3 still works flawless after hunderds of hours. I printed pla, various abs types, Asa, pc-max, nylon and petg so far.
Little late but I do have to mention that from this video the tracking and testing is more through and accurate that the manufacture and testing of flight controls for commercial aircraft, I mean I understand how the employee atmosphere works and the occasional “eh it’s still passing” though comes through but the tracking on everything is done extremely well, really makes me want a prusa....
Fantastic! Informative as always! Joe and his crew seemed to have learned a lot of efficiency improvements over their history, and it’s great to see the implementation of custom automation machinery like the ptfe cutter. Someday he may have all machines making his machines!
You have sold me! I am a retired Machinist and Toolmaker that misses making things. Your printer was on my very short list of my first printer. It is now the only one on my list. Looking forward to getting back to CAD/CAM/CNC manufacturing.
To me, it's SOO COOL to see all the custom 3D printed parts around the whole facility, especially the Test Lab!!!!! He saved a bundle not having to pay someone to injection mold those custom parts! This video makes me want to move and work there! :)
Man the Prusa operation is impressive. I'd love to have someone ask them why they still have this giant print farm to create the components for their printer. At their scale, it would seem to be better to injection mold these components. I'm sure they have a good answer to that, I just wish the interviewers would ask that question.
From what I gather, they aren’t at a level of production where injection molding would be financially better. They makes lots of parts, but not 10s of thousands. Plus, their STL files change and are updated more frequently than would be feasible with molds.
When they can run hundreds of printers in real-world application, they can quickly catch problems and iteratively improve on the design of their printers in a continual feedback loop to improve their product. Very smart approach.
3D Printing Nerd you made a great video. Be sure to check the video which he has made recently about history of Prusa factory. It's an amazing story. 👋
Wow, at each turn a show of how my first (and so far only) printer, cheap A8 clone, is no match for that kind of quality control, testing and manufacturing, wow! That Maker Space with HAAS CNCs is siiiiiick!
Make a clone. I mean, after my experience with Prusa Research literally laughing at me, after they sent back a printer from repair with a partially melted extruder where the PINDA is, and bowden tubes from their *test jig* (which were way too short) instead of the tubes I sent in (by their request).... I can't recommend them enough. I just can't recommend them *at all*. I've been working with them since March to try to get this thing working properly. It doesn't matter that I still have all of the chat transcripts either... Once working, I intend on selling it. Dirty laundry? Sure. It's an experience that not all, but some, will end up going through if unlucky as I have been... My hope is not everyone is abused, but I have a feeling this is a culture at Prusa. I saw on one of the factory tours, a "wall of idiot customers." Laughing at paying customers... Geez, that's a new one on me. In my 14 years in tech support, including a 5 year period for HP, I've never seen that before - and I've seen some pretty bad stuff from both customers and agents as a case management/L3 call monitor... Joel - Not so happy with 3D printing anymore. This had taken the joy out of it. I used to print little Christmas ornaments and hand them out at parades, events, and see the eyes of people light up... but really, this experience has changed my feelings, considering that Prusa is probably one of the most respected names out there. I didn't feel this way, when I was *on my own* with an Anet A8, which I modded heavily, yet others consider as a crappy machine. Not many bells and whistles there.... Upsetting.
@@caseybenefield6116 Sure thing bud. It might be on par but how much tweaking and modding did it take? A8 doesnt even come with auto level or all metal hot end come on man, not on the same league. You can mod any printer to be as good as another open source printer but comparing stock for stock will tell which one is better designed and built from the start.
@@Laborchet Man it must be great to feel that self-superior... How do you even do it? I mean, to wait over a year to reply.... to the idea that when you get started in 3D printing, and want to pay money for a printer everyone else says "just plain works" compared to the A8, Ender-3, etc..... It must take some real manliness to jump all over random people on the internet, who aren't fans some of Prusa Support team's behavior. But alas, I've not communicated with Prusa Support in a while... nor the patrons of the support forum (such as the guy who sells steroids - no joke, who sh*t all over my concern with the extruder body pieces melting, which was later uttered by MANY others, before new versions of the parts were released).... But my lack of presence in the illustrious support forum is for good reason. It's a solid platform after the teething issues, but it's the customer experience (CX) that leaves a bit to be desired. To answer your "question"...which is more of a statement.... 1. I can get more consistent results from not using auto-levelling, but mine has an auto level probe, which is all of $3 these days. 2. The A8 still has the same old anet board, (with upgraded / safer firmware), same old acrylic frame which has the rigidity of a spaghetti noodle. 3. Never said it was in the same league, Mr. Straw Man... or Karen. Whatever your chosen gender is. I identify as a amphibious vehicle, so there. 4. I don't give a flyin banana peel what you think. I'm not going to be equally self-superior as those in some of the Facebook groups for the A8, thinking their A8 can beat a Stratasys Fortus machine.... but for what it is, it is a project machine, FOR LEARNING. You don't buy a $1000 machine, to learn how to optimize it, to tear it down, rebuild it, and understand the physics of printing. Have a nice day :)
@@alabamathunder2891 LOL dude i wasnt even replying to you or your comment so take a walk with that story youre trying to tell that nobody will read. You must have a really sad and boring life to take the time to write all that to someone who didnt even direct a word towards you.

Oh man, he has a LOT of orange and black oompa-loompas working for him.
SO many! :)
"We print them up fresh every morning and melt them down again every night"
This Willy Wonka appears a lot less creepy than Johnny Depp.
This makes me feel really confident about spending my money on a Prusa. Quality Control seems to be taken very highly there.
And their printers are running for a really long time in the farm
i bought version 3 of prusa and it do the job perfect
worth the 2000 dollars (if you buy extra nozzles and sheets)
I love how Mr. Prusa is still so very involved in every aspect of his company. Most owners by now would just be on the sidelines in the office.
this is for sure the best interview with Josef and his factory!
It's an amazing place, the tour was crazy!
Joel has a way of not bombarding him with random questions instead of letting him talk like some other interviewers :P
Your running through a field of 3d printers, that's something I've dreamt of since I found the hobby.

It's incredible to see the amount of 3D printed custom parts used in their testing and manufacturing stations. I'm here printing little toys, they're printing parts that actually do work. So cool.
The level of automation is crazy!
Sounds like this needs to be a competition - how to build a Mk3 like a pit crew, calibrate and print
Air-driven screwdriver will be a must.
You're right, it ought to be a competition... in Prague, at the factory, Joel should be the one of the contenders, and the winner takes home whatever he assembles :-)
@Joeltelling, the gauntlet has been thrown, will you pick up the challenge of making it a reality ?
I love how much Prusa cares about the quality of his products and his staff. Like man Id love to work there.
The amount of tracking and testing that goes on their factory is reassuring.
so cool. i have one of these bad boys in shipment to me now. can't wait! what a brilliantly run company.

I am amazed at Prusa's price points given all of their overhead, G&A, and labor.
don't SAY THAT! they're gonna make it like 1000$ now
They pay there employees roughly $150 US dollars a month for salary... Not too difficult at that point ha
I hope one day I can own one of Prusa's amazing machines. Awesome tour!
Wow as far as manufacturing productivity and systems these guys have their shit together. Must have some excellent process engineers.
What a lovely pair you two make!
It remains my ambition to own some lovely Prusa products in the near future - 'fingers crossed.
Excellent Video Joel and Josef,Thank You.
Awesome tour. Fun to see behind the curtain.
Great video, thank you! Also, you running through the farm made my day! How could anyone keep from smiling!
EXACTLY!
This is FASCINATING. Love it!
Glad to see all the effort about to order my Prusa
Very nice factory. Congratulations on your success, very thorough with quality control. I will be looking at Prusa for my 3D printer purchase.
This guy has made a multi hundred people company from zero within a few years in eastern eu, he is a GENIUS.
I know what we show here in the video is just a glimpse, but from my time spent with Jo, the dude is the real deal.
3D Printing Nerd you made a great video. Be sure to check the video which he has made recently about history of Prusa factory. It's an amazing story. 👋
Central eu 🤔
Eastern? Prague is west of Vienna! Except all the hard work they’ve put into the company they also had to be lucky.
This company has great quality assurance!
Wow, at each turn a show of how my first (and so far only) printer, cheap A8 clone, is no match for that kind of quality control, testing and manufacturing, wow! That Maker Space with HAAS CNCs is siiiiiick!
Man, now i feel bad that i wasnt able to afford an i3
Goddamn you josef
Why do you have to be so nice, and your factory so good
Make a clone.
I saw on one of the factory tours, a "wall of idiot customers."
Laughing at paying customers...
Upsetting.
Dare I say, my A8 also produces prints on par with that MK3's quality, which is pretty funny in itself. Haha...
Awesome video guys! I love these factory tours.
I’ve always wanted to see this. I love the lab. Thanks Joel and Josef.
Thanks for watching!
Wow, impressive and the quality control is amazing, I will get a Prusa after this video.
He speaks English very well, but you can tell it's a little struggle for him. I could understand everything clearly and learned a lot. Thanks a lot guys.
