"trapper is the best killer to introduce players to the game with. that's why he doesn't play like any other killer in the game and has the most unfriendly and obtuse method of reclaiming his power that doesn't be in line with literally any other limited ammo killer in the game"
Wouldn't him being different than everyone else, and being so weak that even really good DBD players struggle to play him without using strategies like basement camping that're frowned upon be a bad character to introduce new players with? Starting them off playing as someone that even in your first ever game you can tell is unfun to play most of the time because of him being out of date, and then introducing literally any other character except the Hag, just for the new player to be back at square one, because the guy they learned first doesn't have any transferable skills?
The only thing you learn as Trapper that anyone else can use besides the Hag to a limited extent is how to loop and knowing when to swing, which even then half the other killers don't chase like him, so literally all the skills you learn as Trapper are thrown out the window. Great tutorial character, am I right? Frustrating way more often than not, and everything you pick up as this killer besides map/gen knowledge amounts to nothing unless you main him.
I'd say Wraith is the best "beginner" Killer. Simple power, yet effective and allows Wraith to have tracking, info, stealth and map pressure all in one.
Agreed. When I was starting out as killer, I was going to do Wraith long before Trapper because the power didn’t need me to know where good trap spots are.
The problem of Trapper is that he's designed for 2016 DBD, and DBD now is a completely diferent game, he's made for a hide and seek game, DBD stooped being that fairly quickly and turned into the game we have today
i agree when i play as killer most of the time i will get at least 2 on coms somtimes 4 and ive tried playing trapper and ik how surivors play i have 2k hours most of witch are on surv but i still never manage to win
tbh he needs many minor adjustments, another I can think of top of my head is making traps slightly wider, as MANY places cannot be trapped and Survivors can crouch around. And I mean places that should be able to be trapped, like Haddonfield stairs and hallways. Also fact that Trapper cannot walk past them makes those traps harmful to him, why would killers power be bad for himself?
Make them spawn attacked to some loops as well, to add some slow down as the survivors will need to check loops to see if any traps auto-spawned in bad places for them.
@@mathewunknown8266 Stepping into his own trap thing is even more stupid, when you learn that killer's hitbox is wider, meaning that sometimes survs can squeeze past some trapped spots, while trapper will have to go "OUGH" or pick that trap up, losing time, distance and a potential down
Frankly, without changing his current gameplay loop, I really think the only way to really fix Trapper in any sizeable way would be to incorporate the Iridescent Stone add-on into his basekit (albeit weaker, like 45 seconds, and the Iridescent Stone now reduces this timer by 15 seconds, effectively keeping it as-is). Simply not having to manually reset traps is a huge benefit, considering how much work has to go into acquiring and placing the traps.
No one will probably see this but "quietkills" has some REALLY good trapper play from, no perk streaks, only being able to place one, trapper just takes some map knowledge, and thinking on the fly. Come around mid to late as more and more survivors start getting trapped, super chefs kiss imo
QuietKills has also been caught multiple times reverse boosting to play at lower MMRs. Why do you think he stops his streams or switches to survivor when he starts having more difficult matches? The survivors he faces in his videos are brainlets.
@RaVeN19Dizzle dawg gonna be honest haven't made it to a single stream, but I've seen him go against plenty sweaty teams, with the whole nine yards of sweaty builds. And even if that was the case, still probably wouldn't care. Guys, just entertaining all around
Trapper is the undoubtedly the toughest killer to play as for many, but when you secure a 4k considering how “handicapped” you are in terms of power it’s one of the most satisfying wins you can ever have (especially if you’re playing aggressively and not relying on cheesy methods like camping) I main the trapper and I’m currently P14; I have the most fun with him apparently lol
Make his traps bigger, make his brown addon that stops him being self trapped basekit and add extra addons that CHANGE his traps - smaller traps that act as they do now, larger "tar" traps that hinder or root ect
The one change I want and would help Trapper a lot is the ability for him to start the trial with all of his traps. It would save him time at the very beginning wandering the map and would also help in areas where you can’t place a trap because there is an unset trap lying nearby.
Hey there, (high mmr) trapper here😅 ive played only Trapper for over 4 years straight. A lot of good Trappers get very good kill rates in high mmr from simply just understanding the game. Also snowballing is not an uncommon tactic for winning. And it doesn't necessarily feel great on either side. He doesn't even need that much to be playable. Give him a third trap at the start. Make the Trap hitbox ever so slightly bigger so we don't have to make sure our trap is Pixel Perfect at a pallet. And stop letting him step into his own traps, let that be a meme add-on. W video. Subbed
A couple simple fixes for trapper are having spawn with all his traps and give him different kinds of traps like allow him to trap a generator or trap lockers and as a survivor runs past they reach out and grab them into it he's the trapper for Christ's sake I'm sure he's developed more than just bear traps
At the very least purple bag and not tripping your own traps should be basekit. That alone would be a big qol by letting you have some surprise factor when the survivors come across your first trap.
@afrosamurai3847 I also like the idea instead of having all his traps having them armed around the map in strategic places the community decides like in certain places around jungle gyms at the very least it'll save him set up time
@@noahcollins1211 Honestly I like that more, make it so at least like 3 or so traps spawn near loops and the rest spawn around the maps in random but still decent locations (like in grass if possible or near a tile where a survivor could step in it.) Wouldn't mind if the increased disarming time add-ons got a buff by also increasing the amount of spawned traps to be placed near more loops or something. Give a reason to use them as it would make it take longer overall for survivors to scout out the pre-placed traps and disarm them.
His main problem is having to waste time setting up the traps, let's go over a couple ideas to fix that Trapper's purple sack Add-On should be basekit, except he can still pick up the traps. Whenever Trapper places a Trap, generator repairs are slowed down a little bit for a few seconds (does not stack, exact number values pending playtest)
I'm a trapper main and I'm doing a challenge where I p100 him completely perkless. And yea I can vouch I pretty much HAVE to tunnel every game. If I mess that up then I have to try to 4 man slug. I'd just be happy if trapper started with all his traps. That'd be enough for me. Usually I don't even consider a chase until they're at 3 gens or if a survivor is around alot of my traps.
Honestly if they gave trapper some fixes it should be his traps either start open or regenerate in his pocket or even both, and if a survivor gets caught they could have a small skill check penalty next time they do a generator, maybe smaller skill check sizes for the first 3 skill checks or until gen is complete whatever comes first kind of thing. This would give him less setup requirement and some gen slowing, it's not a perfect fix but if they're adamant about trapper being this way it'll give him slight buffs that don't fundamentally change how he works at all levels. I like trapper but I legit would rather play anyone else just because by the time he's up and going they have 1 or 2 gens done.
Trapper is the best killer to learn the game teaches you to control the map teaches you to think ahead you have to be smart to succeed with Trapper but sometimes you go against SWF and your most likely gonna fail unless you slug
One thing I will say for Trapper and new players, I remember when I first started I played Trapper and having his traps spread out made me explore the map more then the generators, it made it feel like a small reward so even if I didn't find a survivor like if I was checking gens and found nothing. His traps give a small dopamine hit and feel like you can use do something instead of just wandering from gen to gen hoping to find something. This is something I feel like people with 3000 hours forget about. That being said once you get used to the game and have a better idea having to go out of your way for traps knowing that you're wasting time is painful, and the worst is when the game bugs out and a trap spawns outside the map. It's hard to say what the right balance is between giving little rewards to new players and not wasting the time of old players is, maybe have them spawn in the part of the map that the survivors spawn in, this gets new players to think about where survivors spawn in relation to the killer and learn something and lets old players know they aren't wasting time going to the traps.
The reality is Trapper is the only killer that 1) has to go on a scavenger hunt to even use his power, and 2) gets harmed by his own power. and these two things are so easily fixed, would elevate him into C tier and he wouldnt need any other changes. 1) let him spawn with all his traps 2) Give him trap refresh (once hes placed all his traps the next one he places replaces the oldest placed trap) 3) Makeshift wrap basekit, meaning stepping on his own traps disarms him but allows him to walk through them. These simple changes alone will put him in C tier and hed be just fine there. and I hate, LOATH BHVR's reason "we want him to be easy to play for new killers" Trapper needs immense amounts of map knowleged, not even close to beginning friendly.
I find it really funny that Trapper is meant to be players "learning" killer, as I started with Xeno. From a new killer experience, they should add more trap variety to his base kit: two traps for gens that expose survivors and traps for pallets that put on status effects (like a killer variant of Ripley's perk). In addition, if Trapper is the "newbie killer" things like saboing hooks or flashlight usage should come with a trade-off specifically against Trapper: expose the surv who did it, drop the carried player as normal, and add a cooldown that prevents Trapper from being blinded again for limited time. This would teach new killers basic mechanics, player behavior, and map control.
One major downside to trappers that is often overlooked is that there is next to no real risk involved when disarming his traps except for an audio cue, which in all honestly is pretty useless most of the time, especially if you already have even a general idea of where the survivor is. However, I think making something similar to bloody coil basekit could be a fix for this issue. Say if there was small change that a survivor could get injured or even trapped when disarming, it would make survivors have to asses the risk of disarming a trap and stop them from just running around the map, disabling them without consequences and pretty much making trappers power completely useless. These chances could be affected by survivor luck and trapper addons of course
I think trapper is underrated and does well. Not against top tier, but for average players, he's just fine. He's fun to play and fun to go against. My problem is all the new killers with confusing powers that are very difficult to counter. Comparing trapper to these near over powered or overly complicated killers is unfair.
Legion is a better starter killer than Trapper. Legion is pure M1. You can frenzy all day. But you need to M1 to get anywhere. It's even more simple than the network of traps. Press button. Fast. Stab. Stab again. Down. The simplest killer.
Completely agree with your take on this. Ive been saying this for years. The reason i said that Billy was the best S tier killer designed in the game. He was balanced, counterable but lethal and dangerous at the same time, giving an expression of skill, he comes with a high skill ceiling and skill floor. He is really good to pick up and learn at a basic level for any new player. Rev chainsaw to either go around the map or instadown a survivor and press m1 occasionally. It gives of sense that if you actually liked playing him, you can get better and over thousands of hours of mastery, you will get rewarded for dedication. I really wish Trapper was like this. Idk why he doesnt get changes but Huntress who is simple for new players and high kill rates get buffed over him. Makes no sense. Huntress is also like this with Billy. Trapper needs his power in lockers or special stations and his traps need to be slightly bigger to stop headache placements and be more forgiving and in my opinion, add something to prevent one guy disarming every trap on the map.
Hear me out. As an ex-Trapper main. Trap "lobbing"....... The new ability to set traps. Aim down to place like normal however if you're aiming up past a certian angle you can "lob" the trap. If the trap misses a survivor it lands but doesn't set. Change some add-ons to make it so they can "latch" onto a survivor, like victor. They don't injure but hinder/break you or maybe they can injure but no hinder with a different add-on. Would improve his chase potential while keeping his core the same. Lobbing will be from the waist so not shots over high walls/loops. At best maybe just high enough to get over a window/vault a meter or so away. Give a TON of potential for add-on changes. Like throw distance/set in landing/hinder and so on.
I would see the new rework where trapper would be able to even throw his traps for quicker setup, and when mid - air trap hits survivor, it just simply Downs them. But for that rework, they could readjust his best addons to make them slightly worse, but make the trapper himself better
I love Trapper, one of my favorites. The only thing I wish was to be able to have all the traps at the beginning of the game. Why create an addon for that and put a downside of NOT BEING ABLE TO REMOVE THEM WHEN YOU PLACE THEM ON THE GROUND? That doesn't make any sense, the guy is the poster boy for the game and they treat him like trash.
I think a couple changes could bring trapper out of the garbage tier. 1. make bloody coil base kit. that way if someone wants to follow behind disarming traps, they will be an easier down. 2. make it so traps can still be triggered when being disarmed. I've had teams get people out of situations by starting a disarm and stopping halfway through after their teammate ran over the trap, leaving it there for me to need to grab or step on if I wanted to chase. 3. Just let the dude start with and carry all of his traps. if that's too much, maybe slow him down to 110% speed if he is carrying 4 or more.
i hope they change skullmerchant fast. yea she was opressive but how offten did you see her? once in a blue moon, i can guaratie that. now she is just qeneral m1 killer which drones on the side
Evan McMillan is good as he is right now, I lile his gameplay you can always pick another killer like Wraith if you want a better auto-attack killer. That being said, I cannot play Trapper when Im not in the macro mood and I just want to go in auto pilot, sometimes I play one match of DBD early in the morning, and my brain can't just keep it up, I get destroyed, all 5 gen done before I can even set my traps. I like the style of gameplay Trapper give, if I just want to enjoy the game without havin to plan that much I can just pick Wraith or Pig. Trapper don't need a change.
I wholeheartedly agree, i love trapper and my boy needs a buff 😭 For me the buff needs to be around lethality. Dont change his simple m1 and trap mechanic (these make him a great beginner friendly killer) being able to set a really cheeky trap is why he is fun but not getting any reward from it is what sucks. My suggestion is to make the traps have a genuine 'oh fuck' fear to survivors. I would make it so if an injured survivor steps in a trap they need to be helped out otherwise they are put into dying state. Not only will this give some reward for setting a good trap but also some extra slow down as another survivor will need to help to avoid a down
I like Trapper. No "but"s. No "Except for"s. I just like him. He has a power that is, in many ways, the most powerful ability in the game, as it can delete loops and instadown players. The worst part is when you face a SWF that keeps an eye on you, but that's a problem of SWF, not Trapper, and every killer has issues against a good SWF. Personally, if they never changed him, I'd be fine with it. I also think that even if you think his power is weak, there is an argument that there has to be some killers that are weaker than others. I main pig, and she's about as weak as it gets.
Trapper is already okay, in fact he needs nerfs , rather take longer to set up traps and once they have been disarmed, to take at least 30 seconds to be set up again and that they remove the set up from gates and power switch and basement, that would be a good
It's gonna be really funny if whenever Jurassic Park gets added The Pack of Velociraptors gets taken (since what else can it be) and makes "The Legon" look stupid
1-Bring back old grass, on no grass map make traps semi-transparent 2-Give him all traps at the start, or make traps pickable in lockers (to a maximum of X traps carried and Y traps in total in inventory + map) Done, Trapper is now fine.
3 easy things to buff Trapper that Behavior won't do 1) Increase the amount of traps he can carry and starts with to 5 and make all traps already on the map start prepared. 2) Make it so he doesn't set off his own traps or disarm them by walking over them, because that was always ridiculous and shouldn't require add-ons to not be hit by his own power. 3) Make disarming the traps a difficult skill check, after all people are just spamming putting their hands into bear traps to counter his power without punishment, and that could make skill check builds HILARIOUS on Trapper. Failing can disarm it but injure the survivor OR PUT INJURED SURVIVORS INTO DYING, kinda like what Coiled Spring SHOULD do, but Coiled is kinda useless to any survivor that's already injured.
Never understood how behavior can ignore the player base when they say trapper is weak. WE ARE THE ONES THEY PLAY AND BUY SHIT FOR YOUR GAME.Them saying he is fair is J's lazy. Although imo trapper is strong but that's only when you know how survivers play and know map, and are willing to sacrifice 2-3 gens on set up, and team has to fk up something which they usually do since they so ahead, but if they don't J's throw, they'd likely win.ive gotten so much 4k snowball cuz surviver got cocky, but no killer should be reliant on the surviver playing bad. That's just bad game design
Honestly, Wraith is a much better onboarding Killer than trapper, AND is still a solid choice at the higher level. He's an example of what Trapper should be more like.
I've been enjoying playing M1 Machete(1) Man from time to time when I don't have a character specific challenge I'm going for and I just want to work on my basic Killer gameplay. That is I play Trapper with no Perks, no Add-ons and once the match starts put the two traps I have on hand down out of the way and from then on no traps. Just basic M1 and mindgames. The point isn't to get four kills but to see how many hooks I can get without camping or tunneling. I can typically get at least eight hooks before the gens are done, two on each Survivor, and sometimes can get one or two kills, more if the group is trying for saves or just messing around because I'm Trapper and not someone they find more threating. I use the Deathmatch Wrestler skin set for that (lack of a) "build" but that's not really necessary, just a little joke for myself, having "M1 Machete Man" be his wrestler name. (1) It seems he actually uses a cleaver, but "M1 Machete Man" is what Otz called him so that's what I'm going with.
Personally, Trapper is an S tier killer because he, and only he, can lock the exit gates down with his traps and end up getting a 4k without a single hook all game, simply because he's placed his traps around the exit gates and has brought some add-ons. Generators going off don't mean shit if Survivors can't actually open an exit gate.
I would not say that trapper for beginners, because new killers don't understand where survivors are going to loop, and how do they move between gens, also there are many ways to play Trapper, you can trap loops, or master random spots where no one expect traps, being an end game Trapper and so on.. But yeah in average he is highly dependences on rare addons .. which is sucks tbh
I play ALOT of trapper. Honestly i dont know what they could do to buff him while keeping him balanced. More traps would mean a more secure side of the map. The fact he has to wander out to get his traps balances the game for the survivors to have a chance to go into jis starting territory. If he has more traps at the start its alot of power he has on his starting point. The only thing I could think of is making it more punishing for a survivor stepping on the trap itself. It takes a while to set these things up after collecting them and its so frusterating when i get a trap to work but im so far away, it makes me want to stay near my set traps i dont think my power should be oppressing me to do that. I think the traps have to take WAY longer to get out of without the help of another survivor. Thats literally it. Or give trapper a speed burst when someone is trapped, like as if ethan gets excited that a trapped worked. Then it would make him dangerous no matter where he is on the map. He could use that speed to chase somone else or use to it get back to the trapped person. It even matches the theme of one of his perks. Agitation, getting all excited to get the hooks off.
I hate Trapper, one of my least favorite Killers to go against. He is so fast it's hard to get away from him and his traps are so annoying, especially in dark maps.
See it's funny you say trapper is the easiest killer. As a killer main that has played almost all characters in the game, his whole trap picking-up mechanic is not something you automatically think about. The first time I played him was a few weeks ago and I assumed that you only got 2 traps to put down, until a friend told me that you could in fact pick up existing traps. If this is something that is not obvious to me, a fairly experienced killer; then how is a complete beginner expected to figure this out? More often than not I find beginners using Wraith as their killer of choice, not Trapper. Thinking about this as if you were a new player: It makes sense, his only way of injuring is M1, with the added benefit of the cloak mode to surprise survivors to get a hit. It's a simple concept to figure out and understand for a new player.
i mean i played with trapper up to gold ranks, id say its a fair intro in that regard, as for the fun aspect, people will go for other killers or actually go farm to buy them for no extra money excepting the licensed ones. DBD is already a niche game as it is, if they dont like the 1v4 aspect, they wont like the rest of the game entirely regardless of killer/survivor gameplay
The team is insane if they actually think Trapper is a good character for beginners. Traps might be simple, but until you get good at setting them up you're pretty just man with machete trying to m1 survivors before you even got to learn how loops work and even when you get good, decent survivors know how to disarm traps and you're pretty much boned without bloody coil (not to mention traps getting hard-countered by filters or even just some maps like Eirie of Crows and Hawkings making them AWFULLY easy to spot) The real killer for beginners is Wraith, with Clown giving him a run for his money if they have shards
i feel like if he started with his traps and hade more like 6 base kit he would be really good just with those simple changes. he can get his traps to insta down and that gets really busted so i would like them to make some other means of playing him without just that same meta because without that he is not very good at all but with it he is busted that is what i hate. it forces people to use a broken meta just to use a character i bet they use because he is really cool and for many nostalgic i know i want to play him more as i have the tree skin from the last rift that is really cool and his skin in this rift is easily the best in the free track (i aint paying for the rift) so there are many reasons to want to play and use him but there is only one way you feel you can and it isnt fun for anyone as you just win if you place the traps even somewhat good with the instant downs on maps with lots of grass it is brutal. take the hags map, you will almost never see the trap and people always like to use the super tall grass to escape the killer or the wheat in other maps and dont get me started on basement guarding as him with insta down that is just a death sentence, but if you dont have that than the survivors will crush gens and you wont be able to do enough in the late game to get anywhere and the early game is so boring regardless what build you have. super rough too as new players often start with him then get a bad idea of what the game is
What's baffling to me is trapper as he is at least to me is fine he just needs one simple change to waste less time setting up starting with all the traps and maybe some faster setting speed and more haste after setting a trap they could make him way better with 2-3 base kit addons Its also funny to me that they wont buff him because of onboarding but if you buy the game on pc have the 5 killers and ask anyone they will 100% tell you to play wraith first idk anyone whos gonna start playing the game with trapper these days I didn't even do that when I started in 2019 I played legion
The Trapper needs a proper tune up to his power and experiencing how the game is played in this era for Dbd. First, just as his name applies "The Trapper" he needs new type of Traps & whole new work on his power to make him a technical disabler. Second, his new tune up should involve "Vault window trapping" & "Generator Bust Cripple" and how will this work? He needs his number of Bear Traps reduce to easily count for his other Traps & yes, re-do his Add-ons as well. Third, Behavior Interactive is lazy & incompetent to handle the game properly to actually understand what "balance" means or being creative as they tune up a gameplay as of late. Also, many streamers and these are mostly Survivor mains saying this "The game is fine and i think the devs are doing great with the game." I listen to the opposite of that from a Killer main. Over all, no one does not need to agree with me or disagree and i am not 💩💩💩 on anyone's fun or view point ...... I am just calling it out as it is needed at this point, therefore i can see how frustrating it is for Survivors to have their perks and items nerfed ridiculously and they complain about it. So, can a Survivor main finally understand a Killer's view point of the devs making that decision in general for a "balance effort"?
Freddy is no longer the weakest killer, skull merchant will likely get a rework at some point and will no longer be an f tier killer. meanwhile... trapper... is just trapper. despite the buffs. still weak to this day. my poor boy.
Lol killer mains when a survivor runs into a random trap across the map and they still make it after the survivor tries 28.7 times to get out of that trap and they still get killed: "TRapPer NeEDs a BuFF"
Honestly just make Trapper start with way more traps. I'm fine with keeping some out scattered around that you can find and pick up but dear god don't make the man do chores before he can play. That, and make it so he can walk through traps without stunning himself. You're telling me that the newbie-friendly killer is effectively the only one who can anti-loop himself!? Brother....
Yoo skrump you posted, just played against your Dracula a few days ago on swamp and the server crashed mid game 😂. Seeing ur name made me wonder when you’d post again
Trapper does not work in modern Dbd. He's too slow. The only thing he has that keeps him from being a complete disaster really is that potential game ending payoff. But with what other killer can survivors just turn off their power? Have 1 survivor follow him at a distance and now he legit just can't do anything. And its not like its innate slowdown that means "Oh but now 1 survivor does no generators all game" because the time it takes to disarm his setup vs him having to cross the map to setup isn't the same. He's so outdated and sluggish that you can legit play a 1v3 against him and because you turn him into a pure m1 killer he STILL loses. Plague has instant downs. Same with legion. Trapper has fleeting hope and the dream of a rework. Setting stone legit needs to be baseline. The only world in which trapper can function is one where he starts with all his traps and they reset themselves over time if disabled
While I agree what you’re saying with people understanding the power super fast and learning how to deal with it so the killer is weaker, I think you are significantly discounting the potential skill ceiling of trapper. You are acting as if macro gameplay is less impactful or satisfying than chase related powers. You also completely neglected the fact that trapper gets a huge speed boost that pretty much guarantees hits in many tiles if played correctly. Just because people who barely play the killer THINKS they know all there is to know about trapper and fail miserably with trapper against competent survivors does not mean the killer is weak.
"oh, people are using a specific perk because it makes an annoying aspect of the game a little better? time to nuke it into the ground" glances at STBFL
theres a very simple way to fix trapper without making him too complex just add trip wires that spawn without the trapper doing anything but he has to repair them after they break
No. He’s just “John Basement”. Since traps are useless in 99% of spots. Might as well place them somewhere obvious where EVERYONE KNOWS there is a treat.
This game just sucks tbh, a lot of whiners, toxic survivors which leads to toxic killers. Everybody hates each other in this community. I just uninstalled and decided to play a game that actually is fun to play.
Give trapper some love!!
me first

Wraith feels much better as a killer to introduce players than trapper if I'm being honest

@@AlsoMeowskivich this makes new players tunnel and camp as they need it on trapper and then you'll get a tunneling nurse

One simple adjustement that maybe will not solve trapper's issues but can give him some breath.
The traps on the map start open.
That was one of the first idea that came to my mind too!

Make them spawn attacked to some loops as well, to add some slow down as the survivors will need to check loops to see if any traps auto-spawned in bad places for them.
@@mathewunknown8266 Stepping into his own trap thing is even more stupid, when you learn that killer's hitbox is wider, meaning that sometimes survs can squeeze past some trapped spots, while trapper will have to go "OUGH" or pick that trap up, losing time, distance and a potential down
@@nuketea4395 yep, I know, that's what I was thinking of with this. It's just dumb
I have mained Trapper since the beta for DBD. 13,000 hours in, and I can tell you, he doesn't need a full rework. Just QOL fixes.
No one will probably see this but "quietkills" has some REALLY good trapper play from, no perk streaks, only being able to place one, trapper just takes some map knowledge, and thinking on the fly. Come around mid to late as more and more survivors start getting trapped, super chefs kiss imo
QuietKills is the best trapper I've ever seen in Dead by Daylight
@LightRoomRJU Right!! Fr my favorite dbd player rn 😂
That's killer skill, he can do that in any killer at this point
Trapper is the undoubtedly the toughest killer to play as for many, but when you secure a 4k considering how “handicapped” you are in terms of power it’s one of the most satisfying wins you can ever have (especially if you’re playing aggressively and not relying on cheesy methods like camping)
I main the trapper and I’m currently P14; I have the most fun with him apparently lol
Make his traps bigger, make his brown addon that stops him being self trapped basekit and add extra addons that CHANGE his traps - smaller traps that act as they do now, larger "tar" traps that hinder or root ect
Make him twerk 😈
the slapper
the napper
the rapper
the crapper
The power capper
The fapper
@@NormalHuman2004 the lapper, he either laps a milk like a kitten, or sprints around your house setting up bear traps.
The one change I want and would help Trapper a lot is the ability for him to start the trial with all of his traps. It would save him time at the very beginning wandering the map and would also help in areas where you can’t place a trap because there is an unset trap lying nearby.
You know today is gonna be a good day when Skrump uploads! Thank you for sharing some love on Trapper!
Holy shit, back to back bangers with the Pixel video yesterday and a new Skrump upload today.
W video. Subbed
Excellent video quality my man
A couple simple fixes for trapper are having spawn with all his traps and give him different kinds of traps like allow him to trap a generator or trap lockers and as a survivor runs past they reach out and grab them into it he's the trapper for Christ's sake I'm sure he's developed more than just bear traps
At the very least purple bag and not tripping your own traps should be basekit. That alone would be a big qol by letting you have some surprise factor when the survivors come across your first trap.
@afrosamurai3847 I also like the idea instead of having all his traps having them armed around the map in strategic places the community decides like in certain places around jungle gyms at the very least it'll save him set up time
@@noahcollins1211 Honestly I like that more, make it so at least like 3 or so traps spawn near loops and the rest spawn around the maps in random but still decent locations (like in grass if possible or near a tile where a survivor could step in it.)
Wouldn't mind if the increased disarming time add-ons got a buff by also increasing the amount of spawned traps to be placed near more loops or something. Give a reason to use them as it would make it take longer overall for survivors to scout out the pre-placed traps and disarm them.
@ReactiveDeactive yeah it would make survivors more cautious at the beginning of trapper matches
Skrump, you’re awesome and I love your videos. Just thought I’d share
His main problem is having to waste time setting up the traps, let's go over a couple ideas to fix that
Trapper's purple sack Add-On should be basekit, except he can still pick up the traps.
Let me know how that goes. That sounds interesting!
Hello this is BHVR, we heard you loud and clear. With this information, we decided to nerf the Pig once again
Hearing the Casting of Frank Stone at the beginning reminded me how much I want a Frank Stone chapter.
Its almost as if BHVR's priorities are : "If it isnt completely broken, ignore and push more skins" :/
The reality is Trapper is the only killer that 1) has to go on a scavenger hunt to even use his power, and 2) gets harmed by his own power. and these two things are so easily fixed, would elevate him into C tier and he wouldnt need any other changes.
1) let him spawn with all his traps
2) Give him trap refresh (once hes placed all his traps the next one he places replaces the oldest placed trap)
3) Makeshift wrap basekit, meaning stepping on his own traps disarms him but allows him to walk through them.
He might not be a strong or fun killer, but I belive it's the best mascot and representation of Dead by daylight the could've choose.
Trapper needs his power in lockers or special stations and his traps need to be slightly bigger to stop headache placements and be more forgiving and in my opinion, add something to prevent one guy disarming every trap on the map.
he's back!!!!
As a small change for a decent start I'd suggest making at least half of his add-ons basekit.
I wholeheartedly agree, i love trapper and my boy needs a buff 😭
For me the buff needs to be around lethality.
L video, i subbed, have yet to receive the promised hug.
Di-di--did I hear MASSIVE?!😔
1-Bring back old grass, on no grass map make traps semi-transparent
2-Give him all traps at the start, or make traps pickable in lockers (to a maximum of X traps carried and Y traps in total in inventory + map)
Done, Trapper is now fine.
I enjoy that trapper is completely different. I play him by not killing ppl I don’t catch in a trap I just slug them and let be picked up
trapper should just be updated to feature new kind of traps that he can place and choose. tripwires could be cool!
The least they could do is have traps start open or open after a delay.
3 easy things to buff Trapper that Behavior won't do
1) Increase the amount of traps he can carry and starts with to 5 and make all traps already on the map start prepared.
Trapper could carry all his traps as base kit and it wouldn’t make him strong enough
-The most loud incorrect buzzer plays when BHVR says that Trapper is "easy to play"-
Like really BHVR, give Trapper his rework.
I feel like wraith doesn't need a rework but it could be good for him and potentially could be cool i.e cloaking certain gens or things
I main this killer is painful because u know u can get cet gen rush so much cause u can't create pressure and waste lots of times
Run! It s the Trapper!
Personal i would like to see him have 2 traps spawn in already set
Make Trapper be able to trap gens. When that gen gets done the survivors who finished it automatically die.
DBD is already a niche game as it is, if they dont like the 1v4 aspect, they wont like the rest of the game entirely regardless of killer/survivor gameplay
aren’t you the green doll from stitch
The team is insane if they actually think Trapper is a good character for beginners. Traps might be simple, but until you get good at setting them up you're pretty just man with machete trying to m1 survivors before you even got to learn how loops work and even when you get good, decent survivors know how to disarm traps and you're pretty much boned without bloody coil (not to mention traps getting hard-countered by filters or even just some maps like Eirie of Crows and Hawkings making them AWFULLY easy to spot)
The real killer for beginners is Wraith, with Clown giving him a run for his money if they have shards
i feel like if he started with his traps and hade more like 6 base kit he would be really good just with those simple changes. he can get his traps to insta down and that gets really busted so i would like them to make some other means of playing him without just that same meta because without that he is not very good at all but with it he is busted that is what i hate. it forces people to use a broken meta just to use a character i bet they use because he is really cool and for many nostalgic i know i want to play him more as i have the tree skin from the last rift that is really cool and his skin in this rift is easily the best in the free track (i aint paying for the rift) so there are many reasons to want to play and use him but there is only one way you feel you can and it isnt fun for anyone as you just win if you place the traps even somewhat good with the instant downs on maps with lots of grass it is brutal. take the hags map, you will almost never see the trap and people always like to use the super tall grass to escape the killer or the wheat in other maps and dont get me started on basement guarding as him with insta down that is just a death sentence, but if you dont have that than the survivors will crush gens and you wont be able to do enough in the late game to get anywhere and the early game is so boring regardless what build you have. super rough too as new players often start with him then get a bad idea of what the game is
I was making food and listening then suddenly i was like "wait I've heard this voice" ( Haven't interacted with a dbd channel since 3 years )
Love the BG3 music.
As a naughty bear main. I disagree, trapper is pretty strong if you know what what you're doing
What's baffling to me is trapper as he is at least to me is fine he just needs one simple change to waste less time setting up starting with all the traps and maybe some faster setting speed and more haste after setting a trap they could make him way better with 2-3 base kit addons
Its also funny to me that they wont buff him because of onboarding but if you buy the game on pc have the 5 killers and ask anyone they will 100% tell you to play wraith first idk anyone whos gonna start playing the game with trapper these days I didn't even do that when I started in 2019 I played legion
I was absolutely destroying SWFs as Krampus for the holiday event, you just have a skill issue lolol
Run! It s the trapper
Pa Rappa the Trappa 😂
Also I feel sorry for Evan. It does seem like he’s outdated.
long story short buff trapper 🙏
SKRUMP IS BACK
He's still my favorite killer
Freddy is no longer the weakest killer, skull merchant will likely get a rework at some point and will no longer be an f tier killer. meanwhile... trapper... is just trapper. despite the buffs. still weak to this day. my poor boy.
that outro 💀
It's very unfortunate that trapper is the face of dead by daylight but they refuse to do anything with him to make him viable as a good killer.
Ok so hear me out trapper with starstruck, agi, iron, mad grit. Try for basement hooks it’s so funny
Trapper isnt as bad as people think coming from a trapper main
I hate the trapper. Just a noob that can never catch me unless I vault into his trap or something. He can die for all I care.
Nothing wrong with trapper. Ever killer can’t be a mobility killer or a ranged killer
"oh, people are using a specific perk because it makes an annoying aspect of the game a little better? time to nuke it into the ground"
glances at STBFL
theres a very simple way to fix trapper without making him too complex just add trip wires that spawn without the trapper doing anything but he has to repair them after they break
No. He’s just “John Basement”.
Since traps are useless in 99% of spots. Might as well place them somewhere obvious where EVERYONE KNOWS there is a treat.
I subscribed. Where's my hug at
waddup Skrump :)
This game just sucks tbh, a lot of whiners, toxic survivors which leads to toxic killers. Everybody hates each other in this community. I just uninstalled and decided to play a game that actually is fun to play.
