Great review! Techtablets found the same problem with his IT13 13900H but I had to go through a lot of trouble comparing numbers from other videos to figure out how much it was throttling even when power limited to 35W instead of 45W. It's phenomenal you set up easy to read bar graphs for this information.
Interesting review Rob, but the results were interesting in the way a train wreck might be interesting. This feels to me as though GEEKOM just stuck this chip into one of their cases and let the chips fall where they may. It sounds as though the lesser versions (like the i5 variant) might be more appropriate to the level of cooling this thing can handle. But loud fan noise when nothing's happening, and the up and down fan sound seem like they'll be deal-breakers. Glad you reviewed it though, if just out of curiosity.
Please help me people. I have one of these IT13 i9 and the fan is driving me carzy, it's constant white noise (the fan does not turn off and it's loud). Is this normal, I find that hard to believe?
I don't know if this was an Intel issue. Other supposedly less powerful CPUs from Intel performed better. My wild guess is the motherboard or general build of the Geekom IT13 isn't built properly to optimize the i9 CPU.
Thanks for the review, I noticed a similar device from Simply NUC recently and was curious about it, the Onyx v9. I wonder if its performance is similarly held back. That option supports up to 96GB of DDR5.
Worrying that Intel's i9 is so far behind. The Ryzen 7735HS is almost mid-range now, but the gap between this and the i9 is gaping now. It's not just the IGPU or the SFF either. They massively need to replace the current core design. This one is too old, too slow and too hot.
If this was true across the board with all Intel CPUs, I would agree. However, the i9 is getting better performance on laptops and the i7 1360P is outperforming it too. Seems like a Geekom IT13 build issue rather than an Intel issue. It just isn't getting optimized.

Even though it isn't good for gaming due to the Iris Xe iGPU, adding an external Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU helps with that issue. Other minor issues, no HDMI 2.1 port nor DDR5 RAM. Otherwise still excellent for programmers and finance professionals (actuaries, consultants, underwriters, analysts, and accounting).
Noob, here. I'm planning on getting this computer for music production. For that reason, I really don't care about graphics. Would this be powerful enough for my needs? I basically need a computer fast enough so that I can record using FX plug-ins with the least amount of latency possible. :) Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
@@akin242002 tysm for the recommendation. May I please know what makes the Mac Mini good for music production? The thing is that my currently computer gives me lots of latency when I record into my DAW. I want to play live music using several instruments (electric, MIDI keyboards, etc.), my plan is to run everything into Reaper and record/loop all the instruments live but it's very annoying/impossible to do that cleanly when you have latency. :( So do you think a Mac Mini would solve this issue for me?
I bought the GMKtec Mini PC Windows 11 Pro Intel Core i7-11390H (Turbo 5.0 GHz) 1TB SSD 16GB DDR4, Desktop Mini Computers WiFi 6, USB3.2, BT 5.2, DP, HDMI, RJ45 2.5G for $375 and I was going to suggest that you compare it with what you are looking at here, but when I looked it up to get the exact name I found that it is now $599 on Amazon. So maybe nevermind
1. Thanks for the video :) 2. Imagine these companies spending 2% extra, to keep temps down and making their systems much more desirable! 3. Imagine more color options. 4. Imagine these with mobile dgpu.... 5. This model is a waste.
@@Robtech I don't doubt that. The box could have been a bit bigger, sacrificing or not the 2.5 inch space. This is Apple style of thinking from Geekom (and most others). Form over function.
The i9 13900h would have been better with a better gpu alot of people dont think of it when buying a gaming pc but most games are gpu dependent not cpu so if you have a good cpu and a bad gpu then your not going to be playing anything triple A with a very high frame rate
One pro you didn't mention, Geekom is based in democratic Taiwan. Many other cheaper mini pcs in the market are based in Communist PRC, which means their product have much lower quality and most importantly, much higher security risk.
It's made in China like all the other minis. They go to a Chinese manufacturer, buy a mini they've already designed, or ask them to make one for them and slap their brand on it. It's not a measure of quality and nothing to do with the political system. If security is a worry, buy a barebones, install Windows from scratch or avoid minis altogether. The 3 year warranty is a pro, I will mention that in the future.

Yes, it's in my review

I'm probably the only one that mentioned it as usual 🤷♂️

I can't see why you would get this over a (cheaper) Beelink SER7 or GTR7. 🤔
Wow! Bizarrre world!!!! ... what a big surprise that low performance... thanks for this great video!
Can it run ps3/ps vita and ps4 emulators?
Could I plug in a LEPAI amp (+speakers) to the headphones jack?
What's the difference between the Geekom Mini IT13 and the GT 13 Pro? Specs looks exactly the same.
I'll see when it arrives. Will be reviewing it too

A metal case would interfere with wifi signals, plastic is much better, just like regular tower size computers.
It just left me thinking the SER 6 Max is better value unless heavy video editing/exporting.
I'm not familiar with GEEKOM-- how is their reliability???

Would you spend that much money on a mini pc if you only have those requirements? They can get away spending less on a mini PC with a cheaper CPU.
@ShiekahTribe Speed of the CPU. Even if it is limited to programming or finance, speed kills and time is money.

I'm just not sure any cooling solution in a box this small can handle this chip. It needs to be a bigger box with a much bigger fansink.
