I like this explanation for how the "fight" with Sylvian goes - she's not actually trying to fight you, she's just trying to show you how much she loves you. She tries to embrace you with her tentacles (not knowing how much pressure your fragile mortal forms can take). She forms growths that look and act more like you in order to make you more comfortable, and those growths attempt to play with you in the same way she sees you're playing with her. But eventually, it becomes evident that you're not able to understand her, and she leaves. She's always doomed to loving her creations in a way they aren't capable of understanding or receiving.
Not gonna lie, knowing this detail and then thinking about the fight, it almost feels somewhat somber. They're not malicious or purposefully evil, they just don't have rhe ability to understand, especially not anymore.
I think there's one thing that truly marks Le'Garde as unique. If you try to use a soulstone on Le'Garde's corpse, you get nothing. It could mean Le'Garde has no soul, but it could also mean that Le'Garde's soul exists outside of the known "Zodiac" present in Fear and Hunger. Only a truly unique soul could result in a truly unique new god.
We're still trying to figure that one out... there's an interesting theory that Legarde is a clone of Alll-mer (since both Alll-mer's body and cloning technology are in Mahabre), but it's pretty simple so far
My favorite love story in Funger is the love that Father Domek still had for Marina, even if it was awkwardly conveyed in his final moments before succumbed to his injuries. Who would have thought that a man of the cloth would have held such sentiments towards his trans daughter during Nazi occupation in WW2?
@@checkmate5336Marina, father Domek's daughter. She was born a boy but since her mother didn't want her to be sent off and made into a Dark Priest (a male only "occupation"), was raised as a girl and identifies as such. OP is referring to how much Father Domek actually cared for his daughter, despite everyone else thinking otherwise.
"Is it any diference to use magic or technology to...?" If the machine god is somewhat cannon, then that question is going to be at the front and center of the next game
Magic is a semi-paranormal (but very natural) phenomenon created from naturally-formed gods (Elder or Ascended), while technology is a mostly normal (but very intentionally manufactured) product of the crafts of mankind and the Machine God. You usually require affinity, blessings, or years of experience to learn a spell from the elder pantheon, while technology tends to only requires you to read the manual to learn how to use it. Edit: sometimes, magic and technology can coexist in the Machine God, and to a lesser extent the cruel age from GOFAH.

@@KitsuneShapeShifter Uzumaki spoilers for anyone who reads this. There is an animated version coming out soon so maybe wait to watch it: I'm glad you see it too! I feel like Sylv is very much like the object below the town. All the object wants is to be gazed upon, and bring the infinite wonder and joy to those who view it, for all eternity. The things it does, though, intentionally or not (we never know), to get the people to see it are incomprehensibly monstrous to our feeble human minds. And the people caught in its influence can't make sense of what is happening to them and it brings them fear and pain. A little less abstractly and a little more concretely re: F&H, the object below the town ends up turning all of the people into a giant human hydra, and it draws them down into the chamber, to be combined with every other person in a giant amalgamation, together forever, all gazing upon the object that is beyond understanding. The strong emphasis on togetherness, fear, entrapment, permanence, love, worship, demandingness are so clearly shared that I think it's a reasonable link to make. I think Junji Ito is great, but I think I like Sylv a lot better than the object. This force that twists the bodies and minds in ways that can't be reversed is more interesting and horrific when it is, to the audience, truly misunderstood. Ito likes to make the malevolent forces behind his horror ambiguous. I think that makes for good episodic storytelling, but in broader narratives, being able to impart some sort of... I dunno, anthropomorphization? to a force that is *definitely* sapient, but in a way that is beyond human understanding makes for a more compelling experience as a reader. Especially when that force is doing something awful to people. Thanks for reading my TEDx.

Weirdly... all of the individual ending B stories seem a little bit off to me. They seem like the kind of thing that would happen to a character if they manage to escape the festival while someone else joins the machine god; they're all a little too normal for someone who has just won a killing game and looked into the face of an old god.

The Marriage of Flesh requiring consent is not proven, it is only our best guess. There is the idea floating around that Bodies that are still changing (aka growing) do not qualify. Which is why in F&H2 the Dark Priest can perform the Marriage with Children they killed and raised as undead. Also explains the Moonless Guards.
In delving into sylvian had me thinking about marriages. They don't make a whole lot of sense, even in the non-traditional ways. Why would managomy matter when the union of two can be a lot more combinations than typical? Why draw the line there? I wonder if we have inherently misunderstood what a marriage even is by conflating it with real-world equivalent. The healing, the symbolisum, is all byproducts of what it actually means. The manifestation of sylvian's desire to be understood by humans. One heart, one body, one mind, and thus perfect harmony and understanding that is unachievable without her influence.
there's a lot of side topics like that that aren't really explored in the games so we simply don't know the answers. The world is intentionally designed so that if something isn't mentioned or directly relevant to the games, you can assume it's the same as our own world
Honestly, I wonder if Da’an’s parents becoming a marriage or trying to make him become apart of the Sylvian cult is why Pocketcat preys upon him. Da’an was a victim of childhood trauma, being exposed to intimate matters at far too young an age (even just being exposed to those sorts of things by sight alone can really mess with kids), so Pocketcat saw that, his blank soul and aching mind, and preyed upon that trauma. An exploit in Da’an’s code that Pocketcat could take advantage of. Da’an doesn’t become Pocketcat because of anything he feels; it’s because Pocketcat is the epitome of his greatest fear.
