    Nice to see it in use, I machined and assembled the main joing bearings/housing for this robot, first year had no idea what it was

    This video helped me so much. I had way too many cooks in my kitchen. Thanks

    The company i work at makes the machine that makes these gloves. It's ridiculously complicated to build but so cool to watch run.

    Thanks for posting this. I had my surgery on the 10th and it went well. I was able to glance over and see all the stuff on the back table. The anesthesiologist put the medicine in the IV and put the oxygen mask on and next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery.

    Good rule of thumb is always drape equipment just like you’re draping a Mayo stand keeping your hands covered while going over the actual arm or other surgical equipment being draped.

    Thank you for making these videos available. I had a left robotic assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy 4 weeks ago. Although I watched other videos of the procedure, I was especially interested in learning about the da Vinci robotic system. You did an excellent presentation of the components of the da Vinci robotic along with draping and docking. Thank you very much for making this available

      And I had a robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy performed by one of these amazing machines just last week. Thanks goodness for modern technology! I glimpsed it in the operating theatre just before I was anaesthetised. I remember thinking: This looks like something out of Star Trek!

    Fantastic video. The unit reminds me of the machine that oral Maxillo Facial surgeons have patients use for radiographic x rays

    Quick bit of feedback, the flex strips should come out towards you in a “U” shape so it doesn’t impede arm function. Other than that GREAT resource!

    Great video ... I hope the hospital I intern or work at has robots... lol ... Question for each case do they use each arm??? Or is it split up by anatomy and which number arm too use???

    • @SurgicalTechTips
      @SurgicalTechTips  7 років тому +1

      They have to use at least 3 arms, Camera port, and two instrument arms for the surgeons left and right hands. Some more difficult cases they may use the 4th arm to help with retracting. On the fly from the console the surgeon can switch arms and maneuver the 4th instrument to retract, then switch back to their previous arm and instrument and keep working.

      Heh, looking at my own incisions right now, I've got four. So I guess in lobectomies they use the 4th.

    Getting ready to have surgery with one of these. Does anyone know why the surgery is actually longer using these techniques? They mentioned being under anesthesia a bit longer than traditional surgery, but a quicker recovery and smaller incisions

    My 5th day of clinicals and I’ve been doing 2-3 cases a day of robotics . These surgeries are long lol. I came in too fast yesterday and I felt defeated 😞. Almost knicked something

    Do the magnets on the drapes get recycled, or do they end up as medical waste?

    I am so happy to have discovered your channel. I just graduated high school this year and want to become a surgical tech myself in the near future. Schooling doesn't start for another 6 months though, what would you recommend I do before tech school so I am more prepared for class? I plan to attend class sit-ins. Any tips? Thank you!

      +Carlos Ruiz glad you found your way here! My suggestion would be to get a medical terminology book. Learn prefixes and suffixes of medical terminology, it will help greatly in your understanding during your curriculum.
