    One unique thing I find about you is that you understand how important examples are. A lot of teachers I've had have always been like "theory is more important because it gives a more fundamental understanding bla bla bla". But you integrate examples into the theory in very smooth and flowing way, which makes it easy to understand what's going on, and how to identify it, as well as what it can or should look like. It's great, and tons of people appreciate it, I'm sure I can say that.

    The most important thing I learned from you Coach Curtis , is to do every single thing for a reason .
    Im a strategist dude by nature, I like to do everything based on information I have and on variables that exist but Ive always had a problem to applicate that on the game . I watched your videos without being specific to things I actually need and I started to adopt that analytical skill that you have. Once you start making decisions based on information (vision - matchups - team compositions etc) you will start to love the game . Thanks so much and keep up the amazing work

      You dont need to have amazing reflexes neither high level mechanics to win . You just need to use the right information in the right way and you will be able to counter and manage players that have those high skills . Information is a skill and a weapon in itself .

    You are actually the best educational content out there. This is exactly the stuff that LS used to talk about in his coaching vods, but this is far and away much more understandable and explained better. I love how in depth you are willing to go to analyze the examples you use. The problem with LS's old vods is that he always had to talk in hypotheticals, because the client didn't know how to properly tether or how to manage 2 waves in advance. Even after hearing him talk about it, it was very hard to apply because it was hard ot picture. And this does give credence to LS saying that his old videos are still relevant because tethering and gaining a resource advantage and holding waves are concepts as old as the game, but this is by far the better content, and also TWT and biscuits didn't exist when he made those vods. Keep up the good work!

    I believe all this experience on wave manipulation during lane phase is pretty great, But I believe in low elos doesn't apply entirelly considering the game is often a mess, constant team fights, so that's where it comes from our pesrpective that priority is always good, but as I climb is good to understand it how can I improve it on this details. Hey, one question, when the guys youre facing have to take a bad recall, you instantly recall, but you have the chance to take a turret plate, but that would mean that you are extending and letting them to reach, and now they have the control of the wave, so it is worth taking that 130g for a plate ? Great content bro, keep it up!!

    • @darkharvest32
      @darkharvest32 4 роки тому +4

      plates are actually worth 160 gold, and in my opinion its only worth to go for them if they are really low (if you can kill it with 2 hits for example) and if you are lacking the gold to get an important item or item spike (like lost chapter ou sorc shoes)
      i also think you should avoid doing this if it gives roaming champions like katarina or talon free tempo to get roams.
      hope i could help :p

      Galio and Nocturne cannot freeze waves because their Empowered Autos do AOE damage.
      If you play those kind of champs your Playstyle is different.
      You have to Roam and make plays with Galio and Nocturne, because their Ults are Roaming and you basically are a Ultless champ if you dont roam.
      AND both dont scale well into late game, thats why you will probably get outscaled if you dont push the pace of the game.
      Oriana on the other hand is a scaling mage, so she is completely fine with freezing and delaying the pace of the game.
      Galio and Noc are not.

    • @CoachCurtis
      @CoachCurtis  4 роки тому

      This strategy doesn't work with those hard push and move champs unfortunately because of their need to shove for protection PLUS having AOE passives

    Hi Curtis,
    I don't know, if You read comments here anymore, but I'm kind of asking/telling myself while watching this, that this all looks nice and cool with Orianna, but the thing is, if You do this as Azir, You will automatically aggro minnons if You attack opponent with abilities, which You need to prevent them from getting gold/xp right? But aggroing minnions means there will be no push towards Your turret.
    You don't aggro minnions with abilities with other control mages, but You do with Azir, because his soldiers kind of counts as basic auto attack I guess. You can get very low hp very quickly if You go way too far for poking and enemy doesn't even need to do anything to You. Minnions will do the job.
    I don't know if You were talking about this in Your Azir videos. Or did You? And if not, do You have in plan like any Azir video #3 in a future?

    • @CoachCurtis
      @CoachCurtis  4 роки тому +1

      You need to call for your jungler to hover while you get the wave out safely or you need to heavy trade as the wave is bouncing out at lvl 3 in which the enemy is too low to protect the wave, OR another way is ward to one side as the wave is bouncing out and heavy lean while aggressively trading for the wave and then instant resetting.
      OR if you can't do any of this, then get the wave out as much as you can, then recall, TP back with replenished resources and go for round 2 (sacrificing your Hp for the wave), ideally healing slowly back up with fleet on the next wave

    One thing I was curious about was that I'm not sure if your recall at 26:58 was necessary. You still had 1 corrupting and 2 biscuits and you don't get a significant buy so I'm thinking maybe it was better to stay to possibly get a mid tower plate or get deep vision with Warwick in top jungle.

    • @Esbro
      @Esbro 4 роки тому

      It was the best thing to do.
      I assume the next wave is a cannon wave.
      That means that if Coach recalls he will miss 1-2 Melee Creeps from the cannon Wave.
      What he gains is another item (he got 600g) AND full Mana ( he was 1/4 Mana). Remember that Coach said that he wants to create a Resource Advantage.
      If he stayed and greeded for a plate he could not spam his Q for aggressive Trades and Wave Management because of Mana issues and would be scared to walk up aggresively.
      Yone would have noticed his low Mana and go for an all in.
      Since Yones Lvl 6 All in is really strong and Coach cant fix the wave or poke Yone (because low mana) , Coach might have died to a solo kill.
      He also shouldnt put Vision because that would delay his Recall time and lose him Tempo.
      He was also playing for Lane and not for roams.
      Since he freezed the wave under his tower he did not need deep vision because he cannot get ganked anyway.
      So the recall was necessairy.

    • @CoachCurtis
      @CoachCurtis  4 роки тому +1

      I can stay but it doesn't really achieve anything. I'd much rather refresh my pots, spend my gold and replenish my resources. Warwick is heading back to his jg to clear regardless. If I want to keep the pressure on during these heavy trading matchups I need all the resources I can get

    once question i have here is, i understand why corruption pot is important for this strategy, but i dont really see why time warp tonic is necessary for it. it seems like as long you use your corrupting potion early, you get pretty much the same result, since its not like time warp tonic actually gives you more resources to work with or anything. not to say that time warp isnt good, and it definitely has a lot of synergy if you're already taking corrupting pot

    Is this concept applicable for other champs that aren't like Orianna or Syndra?
    Say, if I played Zed or Sylas, how would I attempt such a thing? Especially against a ranged champ?
    If I was Zed against Lucian, how would I try and create such a scenario where I am given the advantage. (Also considering I don't have TWT or Corrupting pot with Zed. I know you have that super in-depth guide with Zed which I watched but I can't remember if such a thing was discussed.) Would minion de-materializer be taken for such a situation to help have more power over the minion waves? Or is it just a simple loss by matchup. Agh, I'm trying to figure this out but I feel like the more I try to improve, the worse I get at the game ahaha.
    My issue is that recently, I just haven't felt any power in lanes. It always feels like the enemy laner is stronger from the get-go and I just can't do anything. I feel like I can't EVER go up to CS, even if the enemy is melee and I don't know why. In the end I just feel choked out when nothing even happened yet really. I don't know what's happening. I used to be pretty dominant in lane, but now I lose lane dominance before laning phase even starts.

      I will have to explain this more using melees, but it's much harder to do with melees unless you are versing very low range champions and you are stronger then them in which you can zone them from hitting the wave. Sometimes if you are versing Zed vs Lucian but you have dirk and they have vamp scepter, you can do this sort of strategy, but only if your W is available. As soon as your W is down, you have to respect in which they can thin the wave. So either you hold and generate threat, or you go for the all-in

    • @Andicus

      @@CoachCurtis ah I see. For melee it's just not really the strategy to go for then, which makes sense. Melee doesn't have that same kind if pressure and ease with poking that these champs do.
      Thanks! Looking forward to more :)

      So it seems like the strategy for an assassin/melee champ is to avoid getting completely spanked until you can get poke down and kill the other guy with an all-in - it goes back to the tethering concept. If Aka was landing a ton of Qs and backing out of/ dodging Coach's QEW then the "frustrated" all-in might have netted a kill instead of just looking silly. If I'm reading this right, on, say, Zed/aka/diana you just want to get an angle and spam Q while avoiding hitting the wave forcing the enemy to push in to you & wait for a good trading opportunity or even an all-in - you're still using the concept of letting an enemy push / holding the wave, but you have to be v focused on the micro element to avoid getting poked down. If you've managed to hit 6 on an assassin vs an ori who is under your tower at that point due to you having held the wave there, and if you've poked them down to half HP with your Qs or other ranged spells, they're just dead. A 1/2 HP Ori isn't going to get away from a lv6 zed if they're playing under Zed's tower. The hard thing is avoiding getting poked out during the first levels - to that end as Coach says it's really a matter of resource management. It's ok to miss some CS as an assassin to save your HP for the all-in - even if you don't net the kill, you will be able to force the enemy mid back and crash your wave, denying him CS, equalizing your creep score and maybe even scoring plates. I think i got most of that right based on the previous videos and my own experience but Coach might have some input I overlooked.
      Cheers!

    about the being ahead in levels "potentially even a level and a half" at 21:32 ... NO! you can literally see he's lvl 7 and you're lvl 8.3 or something like that. So the maximum lead you can have is 1,3 levels. But at the same time your wave also pushes into him so he still ought to get a bit more XP momentarily. So that makes anywhere from a 0 lvl up to a full level lead. (that's just without even considering how the laning phase went up to that point just from the pure state of the screenshot at that time)

    Is this possible with assasins or do Assassins have another playstyle?: shove and roam.
    Im playing alot of qiyana also with timewarp and corruption potion, but qiyana is absolutely useless before lvl 3. Should i just wait for 3 then try to take aggressive trades and start freezing and stuff like you showed us or should i shove waves with qiyana and start roaming? Thanks as always for your content, watching you since last year, you teached me so much :)

    • @CoachCurtis

      It is if you are in a favourable matchup or you get ahead in the early game.
      Generally Qiyana won't be able to do this sort of thing though in the early game due to how weak you are, and you need to constantly trade on the enemy with grass Q post lvl 3.
      But if you do get ahead post first base, you can start to slow build waves if you position appropriately (I will cover this in my video coming out tomorrow)

    Hello Couch!
    I have found this strategy very effective when it comes to stomping mid but as a melee mid player I find myself in the situation where the enemy will simply use their range advantadge to farm safely and give me no opening to allin them. So while I do get huge CS leads over them, they don't really die and safely farm what they can and wait for the jungler to come and bail their lane. I have found that this pressure is simply not enough in soloque when, say, a sidelane is constantly fighting (and dying).
    Do you think in those cases its ok to "sabotage" your mid gap ego and just shove and roam to make sure you don't have a 0 20 botlane by 10 minutes? Or you think you should not get out of your way to compensate for your teammates mistakes?
    On the other hand, many times when I hold and deny waves the enemy player will simply accept that they have nothing to do mid and roam to one of their winning sidelanes that obviously has full prio and vision. They grab free kills there and there is simply no way I can follow them with 0 vision. Now their sidelane is even more ahead and my teammates have an excuse to why they inted their lane (mid diff). Anything to do there?
    Rank is D2 EUW for context.
    Cheers.

      These types of wave management strategies can apply to anyone who can out-resource/pressure the enemy laner.
