Wow. I had no idea. Wanting to get polyps removed from my nose and told that I have to wait at least six weeks. And then I stumbled on this. Need to see this doctor ASAP.
Thank you SO much for covering this topic Dr Skarada. I am an ENS sufferer and it is a catastrophic condition! Thankfully, I am recovering after intensive therapy.
I would add that many of us with ENS have also suffered damage to the autonomic nerves and experience some level of Dysautonomia. I was diagnosed with severe POTS concurrent with ENS. It is a major reason for the immense suffering. Additionally, there are patients with total turbinectomies that have no difficulty humidifying or warming incoming air.
It is caused by Hot Surgical Treatments like RadioFreuency, Coblation & Cautery. These treatments perfectly shrink turbinates but cause irreversible damage to nerve receptors that sense Airflow and Temperature that are embedded in mucosal lining. Some doctors do perfect treatment with cold techniques and cause damage with cauterization while trying to stop bleeding. Please notice doctors who don't perform full/partial turbinectomy and are not using any heat they have very good outcome.
🙂... thank you doctor for your info ... I'm just wondering ... is there a procedure where the air passages are expanded by using small balloons inserted in the nose ... I'd appreciate your answering ...

Thank you Doctor. Lovely to see an ethical doctor discuss such a sad topic objectively and telling the truth. Hero!
Am I going to get it because I had coblation done 6 weeks ago?
I used a nasphayngeal airway to get the air to go through the top and feel it. It's a 3.0 mm tube.

Can you tell me more about how you're curing it please, I believe I'm suffering from ENS like symptoms currently. 😢

They will have them!
Don’t state that. I had turbinate reduction 6 weeks ago!
