    Great projects - how do you keep everything clean and dustfree with all those small pieces and intricate designs? Video how do people keep these projects clean if they purchase or make?

    • @Tim_Ung
      @Tim_Ung  2 роки тому

      A duster works on most of them. The wood projects don’t need to be cleaned as much as acrylic. The trick with acrylic that I’ve learned is to use a frosted one so the dust doesn’t show through it. Clear acrylic attracts a lot of dust and debris.

    How did you slice the fist? Did you get a 3D model and slice it then pull vectors from it?
    Do you make all your concepts in cardboard first?
    Wonderful designs. I’m a 3D artist and am excited to integrate my knowledge into laser cut designs.

    • @Tim_Ung
      @Tim_Ung  2 роки тому

      For the fist, I created a 3D model, then imported it into a software called slicer, which automatically slices the model into sections and organizes it onto a board with labeled numbers. I don’t think Autodesk Slicer is available anymore, but I believe Fusion 360 does it as well. I also don’t make all my projects out of cardboard first because it takes so long to cut all the pieces and assemble due to all the setup of loading and unloading sheets of cardboard. Good luck with your projects!

    Hey Tim! New subscriber here. First of all, just want to say thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills here on you tube. Your passion for what you do and your talent is pretty amazing! I’m a stay at home mom looking to start my own home business and have been eyeing the glowforge for months in order to create things that I can sell on Etsy. I originally just wanted a cricut but the endless possibilities of the glowforge has just got me really interested in getting one. With that being said, was wondering if you could give some advise on whether I should go with the basic, plus or pro. I’m still researching while saving for the machine. I’m not sure if the pro is just overkill for a beginner like me..any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • @Tim_Ung
      @Tim_Ung  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Jonah, yes let me make some suggestions. If you have the budget and space for a Glowforge pro, personally, I’d go with it because of the pass through feature where you can cut any length material up to 19 inches wide. This will make it easier for you to cut larger pieces without having to figure out tricks like leaving the access panel open and such.
      However, if you don’t know if you’ll be using it a lot for big projects, a plus works well since you get longer warranty on the machine. This helps if you start cutting lots of stuff in case any issues arise with the machine.
      Lastly, if you need a code for a discount, feel free to use my link glowforge.us/r/VYSKLGWM

    Hi Tim, love your work. If you're really considering opening up a craft shop, you're going to have to do better. Practically all of the projects in this video are nice, but I produced similar projects in my junior high school industrial arts class back in the 1960s - and they were all produced manually without the aid of a computer-driven tool. Desirable (read sellable) craft projects are unique and ingenious in one way or another. Yes, you can sell 20 different lamps, but each model better be unique and/or ingenious.

      Yes! She thought it was really funny. Interesting that she went through several stages of writer’s block and just finished writing a book that she’ll be publishing it soon 😁
