I think in a lot of these sketches the patients say stuff unprompted that would’ve taken a lot of prompting IRL but that conversation is too boring to add to a short comedy video.

Arizonan here, this is exactly what happens when people go on hikes during the summer. Quite a few have to be airlifted off the mountains due to dehydration!
I don't understand why people don't bring at least a gallon of water with them when hiking in the DESERT in the SUMMER. Sometimes even a gallon isn't enough. It's incredible how fast you start to dehydrate in the Arizona heat.
I got sunburn on my scalp once and have never forgotten to bring sun covering again, also I always bring extra water when hiking cause I know how quick things can go bad if you don’t have water
I met my boyfriend through an incident like that. I had been left on the beach. Was really intoxicated, was only 17 y/o and ended up completely disoriented and a similar colour. He rescued me, treated my skin and dehydration and we stayed together for 13 years. I NEVER got sunburnt ever again! He died a few years ago. This clip made me smile ❤
@@eliteknight2137 Several things... Acute sun exposure and the sun's ultraviolet rays cause kidney inflammation. Sun/heat/overexertion causes the body to sweat. Excess sweating reduces blood flow to the kidneys and causes damage. Blood is thick and needs to be thinned out by water to move. Excess sweat and dehydration create an excess of uric acid and calcium which will combine and create kidney stones. Heat, dehydration and reduced/no peeing cause toxins to build up in your body. The toxins will result in urinary tract infections. If the kidneys are damaged, they can't filter and move the toxins out. The human body is fascinating. Use sunscreen, stay covered and drink lots of water. Have Gatorade as needed to replace electrolytes. Avoid soda, energy drinks, coffee, tea. They are liquid but won't properly hydrate you.
@@eliteknight2137 dehydration. U loss a LOT of water from any burn including sunburn. Kidney really hate being dry. They quickly become injured. Not peeing is a bad sign esp if longer than 24hrs
Canadian here 🍁 took my mother to Costa Rica, the woman had literally never had a sun burn in her life. Loved the sun, always had a beautiful tan, never used a drop of sun screen ever. After 3 hours on that beach, she was a lobster. Legit almost died from a sun burn. “Northern” people, trust me when I say the sun is different in other places. Deadly even! Sun screen, hat, shade!!! A January day below the equator is not the same as a July day above it. FYI/PSA from the frozen north lol

So what happens is that as the earth moves around the sun, the hemispheres would take turns to be closer to the sun, so seasons would happen. So as we (north hemisphere) are having summer, the south hemisphere is further from the sun, so they're having winter and viceversa But as time is a social construct, months don't change their order, so Christmas is always December 25th, but here in Mexico we celebrate it all wrapped up in warm blankets, whilst in Argentina their eating shaved ice and trying not to heatstroke And that's why they made the July/January comparison :DD Hope I explained myself, I'm not a native English speaker, so explain scientific stuff is a little bit off my usual vocabulary 😅
@@imstillruqayxh so what I actually meant…..was as Canadians we tend to take hot holidays in January/February as these are our coldest months. Also our hottest months are July and august. Soooo I was attempting to say for us northern folks that just because you love and can easily tolerate a hot summer days in Canada does not mean that you will fair as well down south. My mother, as the example was out in the Canadian sun always, loved it, tanned super dark every year….but a few hours below the equator and she almost died from a severe sun burn. The sun just hits different.
lol as an Alaskan that relocated to Texas I 100% feel this. Ended up burning nearly 4 layers of my skin forgetting that the sun hurts. 😂 back in Alaska idk if I ever had to wear sunscreen!
Ditto on the summer camp thing and sun poisoning, but I might have been a touch older than you. I had blisters all the way across my shoulders, back, and arms, and couldn't wear a shirt for some time. Bad part is that the health room at the camp was woefully understocked and with a volunteer who I'm certain was untrained, because all they did was slather some skin cream on me and sent me to literally pass out in my cabin from pain and dehydration.
You mean sun burn? Because the sun does not give you poison technically but you can get radiation poisoning from the sun. Which you can get a lot of places.
My Ex was a Nudist, and she fell asleep in the sun. 2nd degree burn over her entire body, even there. A lightweight cotton summer dress was painful for her to wear on the trip to see the doctor.

Native from Alaska. I went to Georgia and anniston during July for training and I learned not to go outside during the day. What I don't understand is why the hell is it still HOT at night. And its so humid the sweat doesn't come off. Nothing like sitting in the MARTA shuttle and having everyone stare at you because your gray shirt is soaked and stuck to the skin. I had to go into a random sports shop and buy a dark quick dry shirt. Got stopped by mall security and I showed him the receipt and my Alaska ID. And he told me to go cool off in the entry, I owe that man my life.
Georgian. The humidity IS what keeps the air warm after sunset. It's like walking through a pot that finished boiling water only a minute ago; the heat lingers a while after you remove the primary warmth source. and I'm glad someone helped keep you from a slow roasted doom.
Most accurate description I have ever heard of the South: picture a humidifier test facility...but in hell. It's a deciduous rain forest so the humidity just traps the heat in. Lived here my whole life; you never get used to it you just learn to cope.
I'm living in Georgia now and the heat/humidity is something I'll never really get used to 😭 I'm originally from the Midwest so I'm used to it getting muggy in the summer but the south is just something else.
As an Alaskan in ky, the first summer my fiance took me out hiking i almost passed out and he had to put me in the river to cool down. All the other hikers were wondering why I was so weak and sensitive lol but that humidity is not a joke.
Night time can feel hotter because any cooling of the air just brings the temp closer to the dew point, increasing the humidity. Very common to see 100% percent humidity on the east coast, even up north. You can go from cold to sweating just by going to your room to get a sweater!
I worked at a publix that was only a mile from the beach. One time a family from Canada came through my line and they were debating if they needed to get sunscreen, as they’d brought some and it wasn’t empty. I asked how long they were staying (a week) and glanced at the group of 7 people and went, “Yeah, you need more than that. UV is stronger here.” The dad looked validated lol.
I'd also recommend those thin long sleeves fishing shirts and a boonie hat and those Florida man visor glasses for extra protection the UV here will cook you. Even my friends from Africa avoid the sun between 11am to 2pm.
We also have sun here in Canada. Just like New York, Michigan and Ohio. Remember, we ARE just over the border, the majority of our population lives well south of the Arctic Circle and like the states we border against we enjoy very hot, sunny summer months.

Exactly! Sunblock and UV tech clothing are a must for the sun! I used to work at a waterlife supply store and the people who didn’t know how to protect themselves from the sun was ridiculous. Some denied it being an issue calling cancer an old persons disease.
The first time I went kayaking with some family, I was applying a healthy portion of sunscreen all over about every 20-30 minutes. I was outside for 3 hours that day. I was still blistering from that sunburn 3 months later. Kayaking was fun. The aftermath of my skin... not so much.
@@poke-talia268That could actually partially be from the sunscreen. I’m not saying don’t apply sunscreen, definitely do, but that stuff shouldn’t be overly applied. Stuff has some chemicals for sure.

And I wasn't putting on a whole bottle or anything any time I reapplied sunscreen, but with the water, I wanted to make sure the sunscreen hadn't all washed off.

Work as a seasonal worker on a boardwalk one year. Was talking with one of the friendlier local homeless people. He seemed a little burnt so I commented on it. His reply was to say "that's nothing" and he showed me his lobster red sunblistered leg. 5 minutes later he was being loaded into the ambulance to go to the hospital burn unit for the second time that summer.
I was homeless for years in Baltimore so within a day out there I had sun poisoning but then also saw people freeze to death on the sidewalk a few months later . And alot of the time maryland will transition between the two within days so being om the streets you have no idea or way to prepare. It was so cold a couple nights ago it gave me a panic attack feeling like I was om the street in January again and then today and it feels like the middle of summer.

That's so relatable, I can't stand in the sun for one second lol, like- If I'm in a shadow or in a car and I put my arm on a sun beam I can literally feel it burning me up, makes my skin go red even though it's been like, 20 seconds.
I once was suffering from severe dehydration, heat exhaustion, almost heat stroke, and a wicked bad sunburn at a water park in a different state when I was 13. My grandparents noticed I was sluggish and panting and just bought me more ice cream as opposed to water or any fluids. If it wasnt for my sister noticing that I stopped sweating, I likely would've ended up in the hospital. Always drink water and take breaks from the outdoors when in a different part of the world.
you should have gone to the hospital. If you stop sweating that's already a life and death situation, your body is already shutting down and won't be able to fix itself without outside intervention.
You might want to look into rejuvenation and some natural skincare after that. And some way to remove senescent cells and cancer cells.😭The human body does not respond to too much sunlight lightly.
I live down south in the US and no, no it does not. The sun cooks your brain too quickly to where you can't think. Half the time people don't even realize how sick they are until they suddenly feel too dizzy to stand or start feeling nauseous. And even then, it's just "I'd better go inside" instead of "holy motherforking shirtballs I could die"
@@RobynhoodlumCan confirm, hypothermia numbs your brain to the point where it doesn’t perceive what should be obvious danger. I got it from trying to walk to work during a snowstorm, after my bus broke down. I tried to cut through a grocery store on the way to warm up a bit. My first clue something was seriously wrong should have been when I stood just an inch or so away from that hot thing where they keep the rotisserie chicken…and couldn’t actually feel any heat at all. But by then, my brain was so numb that I just walked right back outside and kept going! I did manage to make it the office, but it took two full hours of being bundled up in there for my body to START shivering. Meaning it had already given up trying to keep everything outside of my core warm, which is scary to think about.
I live in Brazil, it's always a treat to my eyes seeing people from the north part of the world come here pale as heck and get a sunburn just walking around town. Every summer I see the same thing around the streets lol.
2nd degree sunburn can be like that when the blistering starts. Blisters can be several square inches and the top will just kind of slough off if you wipe your hand over it.
I live in Arizona and when I was 16, I was on the back of my boyfriend's motorcycle. Apparently I got overheated and thankfully passed out and fell off his motorcycle when he came to a red light. I woke up inside a conscience store! It was scary! But it could have been way worse! It could have happened while riding around!
@tjaspire I have learned that black people can still get sunburned and get skin cancer etc., just that it takes more exposure than for white people. Being one of those paranoid white people... please wear sunscreen and be careful! I've gotten severe sunburn and heat stroke multiple times, and both my parents have scars from having melanomas surgically removed; it's not fun, and I hope it never happens to you.
This is so relatable. As a kid my family drove across France in the summer, and I didn’t put on any suncream. Back then I didn’t know UV light can in fact penetrate glass. I got through an entire tube of after sun
Oh yeah, that's why cars in the US have had UV-protective windows for several years, that's a "standard option" on all models now. (A 'Standard Option' is an item that is not part of the 'base price,' however you cannot get the vehicle without it. Just another way that the car's MSRP bears no relation to what you will pay for it.)
I’m from Colorado: the sun is so intense that even when it’s an extremely cloudy day you can get a sunburn That is why we get the saying “The only place where you can get frostbite and a sunburn at the same time” 😂
Yes, but unlike at the beach or on a boat most people don't hike or ski with as few clothes on as at the beach. You can get sunburn through clothes but it takes longer and avoids the pain of burning everything possibly including the private bits. Hopefully someone will tell you you look like a cooked lobstah.
This is me when I go out in the sun for more than an 30 minutes without sunscreen. I'm not even Scandinavian! But usually the burning skin sensation tells me I screwed up before my brain and kidneys cook.
I’m from Florida. I also unfortunately have dysautonomia and POTS and thus very heat intolerant… usually takes me wayyy less time to be passing out from heat even with plenty of water. I’m impressed he made it 3 days however that’s also horrifying and I honestly don’t know how it gets to that level but I hope he’s okay now tho!

When my kidney's failed I remember having trouble breathing, no memory of the first 3 days in the hospital, being transferred to a different hospital, etc. I lacked any awareness of what was going on around me. I had taken an accidental overdose (taken a new Medication and didn't remember that I had and took another one) . Confused from the reaction to the first one. Have a great Kidney Specialist!
I from near Washington DC and moved to Cairo Egypt over a year ago and I was not prepared for the summer! Intense sun with no cloud coverage is no joke. It reached the point where I just avoided going out during the day and did everything at night.
Back in the early 80s I was an EMT in San Diego and paramedics were just starting to be a thing. We were on fire department rotation for emergency calls and one night around 9pm got a call for an unconscious person. Arrived at the home and found a muscular gentleman probably red as the actor in this skit. However, he was in bad shape. He was unconscious, red as can be and hot to the touch and having petite mal seizures. Apparently he was at the beach All day drinking beer came home and fell asleep. His family tried to wake him and when he started to have the seizures they called 911. While there getting ready to scoop and haul had family members get me any ice they had in the freezer and took ice packs and put them underneath his armpits and his groin as a femoral artery is right there. We were Code 3 all the way to the hospital. Don’t know if he made it, imagine he did as we usually heard if we lost someone. Worst case of heat stroke I ever seen.
Friend of mine and friends and her mom decided to go tubing on the Feather River in N CA...but forgot to check pg&e's powerhouse water release schedule. Low water, deep in the canyon, no road access, 90+F, and wrong shoes...wound up with one person in sneakers managing to go call 911 and a helicopter showed up to winch them out. Never ever have I seen anyone so red! Clown nose greasepaint red. Then blisters....
I'm a Canadian, and one year I went down to Arizona, and went to the Pima Air museum. I remember feeling super comfortable due to the lack of humidity, but suddenly felt really dizzy. Couldn't figure out why at first, until it hit me that it was severe dehydration. Whoops. 😅

Lol i spent like 4 hours on a beach in Florida collecting seashells while my mom and aunt either sat in partial or full shade for the whole time, me and my mom are from way up north and my aunt lives in texas, they are both SEVERAL shades draker than me a shut in, while i was wearing a swim shirt and shorts with wave shoes, a hat and sunglasses i only reapplied sunscreen after we left the beach. Despite this, both my mom and aunt got mild sunburn even though they reapplied and were in the shade about 50% of the time, while i was in direct sunlight the whole time, my legs also got wet so the sunscreen probably didnt do much, yet i got no sunburn, not even the warm feeling. I like to joke that i traded my mosquito immunity for sunburn immunity, but ive always tanned easy, but my sunburn is just not noticeable but hurts like hell
I recently went to St Lucia. Went scuba diving. Despite MULTIPLE coats of factor 50 suncream (strongest you can get in January in the UK 🤦♂️) I got horrendous sunburn on my back. I was definitely borderline sunstroke and considering going to hospital. Luckily I got away with it. Reckon drinking water near-constantly throughout the night helped. Get travel insurance, kids. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I live in Florida, i was born and raised here. I’ll tell you one thing, if you’re going to go to a Beach pretty much anywhere in the world regardless of whether you’re swimming, tanning, etc etc, you should be almost constantly rehydrating and reapplying sunscreen. I learned my lesson the hard way when I was 14. I went to a beach called Vero Beach in the East Coast, I hadn’t been to an East Coast Beach in a very long time so I was excited. I was there for 3 days, and each one of those days I was in the water for probably 6+ Hours. I went home with SEVERE sunburn, I don’t know how I didn’t get Sun Poisoning. That was the one and only time I needed to be taught that lesson. Obviously SCUBA Diving comes with its own special measures to be taken but these are just things I know from living in the Environment that many Tourists every year underestimate and pay for, some times tragically. Hydrate, and Shelter every so often, it will save you a lot of trouble. Cheers from across the pond.
I went to the Bahamas for a college course. There was a lot of snorkeling, but also even more riding on a boat and hiking; and knowing that I sunburn pretty easily, I just wore my wetsuit at all times during excursions. I never felt hot (the layer of water that wetsuits trap next to your skin probably helped with that), but I got all kinds of looks from the staff like they thought I was about to drop dead from heatstroke at any moment. Also, there are thousands of aggressive horseflies there, and I was very happy to discover that they can’t bite through a 4mm neoprene wetsuit.
if i ever visit the south im tethered to whatever residence im staying at by how long the garden hose is......... not like i could exercise anyway since the sea level humidity would borderline collapse my asthmatic lungs. humidity and smoke are my lung's kyrptonite. while just looking at the sun sideways would insta burn me and cause sunstroke in minutes without the hose.
I remember when I was in Arizona ( _I'm Swedish for context_ ) during summer. I do not like warm places at all, Turkey ( _was there when I was like 10-11_ ) was warm but at least it had more humidity. They ( _friend's grandparents_ ) were so concerned about my health because it looked like I was gonna keel over that they placed this super comfortable ice-blanket around my shoulders. So cozy!
I wish you would do some shorts on the ER/ED’s treatments of people without adequate insurance. You must have seen at least one of your “VIP passengers” being sent home, after the ED/ER did the minimal amount of stabilization required by law.
The worst part about sun poisoning or just a really bad sunburn is the next day when all the blisters come and you can’t lie down or sit back or really do much, ooh and say goodbye to hot showers for a while.
I worked at a rental facility and a group had a minor go down outside and their group tried to shade them with a towel for 20 minutes before they came and got me. When I asked if anyone had called 911, they told me that the minor had a medical condition and “passes out occasionally” but would be fine. Needless to say I called 911 right away and they took them to the hospital. The heat index had been over 100, they had been outside most of the day, and were clearly on their way to heat stroke. 🤦🏻♀️ Don’t mess around with heat exhaustion and heat stroke!
I passed out at my tanning salon from overheating Thursday. Tried a new bed, got out early cus I felt overheated, took 2 steps out of the tanning room, vision went black, I fell, hit my head on the corner of a table and then the floor. Woke up and was like “did that really just happen??” Then told them not to call an ambulance cus I don’t have health insurance and I’d be fine (Medicaid dropped me I am waiting for my job to let me get on their plan) Turns out, a lady who works for EMS was in there, just happened to be going to tan, assured me it’s free to just check me out and called EMS for me. Then coincidentally a guy who works with the fire department but was on vacation came in to tan and stayed with me till EMS arrived. Just happened to be lucky I guess! My head didn’t even get a bruise! Safe to say I’ll be sticking with my regular tanning bed in the future. Everyone was so nice but damn that was embarrassing 😂
Canada I can relate! I’m Nordic (Finnish) and I can start burning in 15 minutes.😂 I’m on the Canadian border (Lake Superior). I lived in southern Minnesota for a few years. WAY too hot. I had to come home. Never going again. I traveled a lot in my youth. Home sweet home ❤

Blonde here. It's actually pretty easy for people with sensitive skin to get 2nd degree sunburns. Dosnt make them any less painful though.

I don't understand why people don't bring at least a gallon of water with them when hiking in the DESERT in the SUMMER. Sometimes even a gallon isn't enough. It's incredible how fast you start to dehydrate in the Arizona heat.
I got sunburn on my scalp once and have never forgotten to bring sun covering again, also I always bring extra water when hiking cause I know how quick things can go bad if you don’t have water
I met my boyfriend through an incident like that. I had been left on the beach. Was really intoxicated, was only 17 y/o and ended up completely disoriented and a similar colour.
He rescued me, treated my skin and dehydration and we stayed together for 13 years. I NEVER got sunburnt ever again!

Acute sun exposure and the sun's ultraviolet rays cause kidney inflammation.
Sun/heat/overexertion causes the body to sweat. Excess sweating reduces blood flow to the kidneys and causes damage. Blood is thick and needs to be thinned out by water to move.
Excess sweat and dehydration create an excess of uric acid and calcium which will combine and create kidney stones.
Heat, dehydration and reduced/no peeing cause toxins to build up in your body. The toxins will result in urinary tract infections. If the kidneys are damaged, they can't filter and move the toxins out.
The human body is fascinating.
Use sunscreen, stay covered and drink lots of water. Have Gatorade as needed to replace electrolytes. Avoid soda, energy drinks, coffee, tea. They are liquid but won't properly hydrate you.

Canadian here 🍁 took my mother to Costa Rica, the woman had literally never had a sun burn in her life. Loved the sun, always had a beautiful tan, never used a drop of sun screen ever. After 3 hours on that beach, she was a lobster. Legit almost died from a sun burn. “Northern” people, trust me when I say the sun is different in other places. Deadly even! Sun screen, hat, shade!!! A January day below the equator is not the same as a July day above it. FYI/PSA from the frozen north lol

So what happens is that as the earth moves around the sun, the hemispheres would take turns to be closer to the sun, so seasons would happen.
So as we (north hemisphere) are having summer, the south hemisphere is further from the sun, so they're having winter and viceversa
But as time is a social construct, months don't change their order, so Christmas is always December 25th, but here in Mexico we celebrate it all wrapped up in warm blankets, whilst in Argentina their eating shaved ice and trying not to heatstroke

@@imstillruqayxh so what I actually meant…..was as Canadians we tend to take hot holidays in January/February as these are our coldest months. Also our hottest months are July and august. Soooo I was attempting to say for us northern folks that just because you love and can easily tolerate a hot summer days in Canada does not mean that you will fair as well down south. My mother, as the example was out in the Canadian sun always, loved it, tanned super dark every year….but a few hours below the equator and she almost died from a severe sun burn.

I got sun poisoning at summer camp when I was nine, and this is how the convo went with the camp counselor. Minus the kidney line.
Ditto on the summer camp thing and sun poisoning, but I might have been a touch older than you. I had blisters all the way across my shoulders, back, and arms, and couldn't wear a shirt for some time. Bad part is that the health room at the camp was woefully understocked and with a volunteer who I'm certain was untrained, because all they did was slather some skin cream on me and sent me to literally pass out in my cabin from pain and dehydration.
You mean sun burn? Because the sun does not give you poison technically but you can get radiation poisoning from the sun. Which you can get a lot of places.
My Ex was a Nudist, and she fell asleep in the sun. 2nd degree burn over her entire body, even there. A lightweight cotton summer dress was painful for her to wear on the trip to see the doctor.

Native from Alaska. I went to Georgia and anniston during July for training and I learned not to go outside during the day. What I don't understand is why the hell is it still HOT at night. And its so humid the sweat doesn't come off. Nothing like sitting in the MARTA shuttle and having everyone stare at you because your gray shirt is soaked and stuck to the skin. I had to go into a random sports shop and buy a dark quick dry shirt. Got stopped by mall security and I showed him the receipt and my Alaska ID. And he told me to go cool off in the entry, I owe that man my life.
Georgian. The humidity IS what keeps the air warm after sunset. It's like walking through a pot that finished boiling water only a minute ago; the heat lingers a while after you remove the primary warmth source. and I'm glad someone helped keep you from a slow roasted doom.
Most accurate description I have ever heard of the South: picture a humidifier test facility...but in hell. It's a deciduous rain forest so the humidity just traps the heat in. Lived here my whole life; you never get used to it you just learn to cope.
I'm living in Georgia now and the heat/humidity is something I'll never really get used to 😭 I'm originally from the Midwest so I'm used to it getting muggy in the summer but the south is just something else.
As an Alaskan in ky, the first summer my fiance took me out hiking i almost passed out and he had to put me in the river to cool down. All the other hikers were wondering why I was so weak and sensitive lol but that humidity is not a joke.
Night time can feel hotter because any cooling of the air just brings the temp closer to the dew point, increasing the humidity. Very common to see 100% percent humidity on the east coast, even up north. You can go from cold to sweating just by going to your room to get a sweater!
I worked at a publix that was only a mile from the beach. One time a family from Canada came through my line and they were debating if they needed to get sunscreen, as they’d brought some and it wasn’t empty. I asked how long they were staying (a week) and glanced at the group of 7 people and went, “Yeah, you need more than that. UV is stronger here.” The dad looked validated lol.

I live on higher latitude than northest part of US is (except Alaska). Even here I sometimes got sunburn. Realize USA is almost tropical! :D
I'd also recommend those thin long sleeves fishing shirts and a boonie hat and those Florida man visor glasses for extra protection the UV here will cook you. Even my friends from Africa avoid the sun between 11am to 2pm.
We also have sun here in Canada. Just like New York, Michigan and Ohio. Remember, we ARE just over the border, the majority of our population lives well south of the Arctic Circle and like the states we border against we enjoy very hot, sunny summer months.

Exactly! Sunblock and UV tech clothing are a must for the sun! I used to work at a waterlife supply store and the people who didn’t know how to protect themselves from the sun was ridiculous. Some denied it being an issue calling cancer an old persons disease.
The first time I went kayaking with some family, I was applying a healthy portion of sunscreen all over about every 20-30 minutes. I was outside for 3 hours that day. I was still blistering from that sunburn 3 months later.
Kayaking was fun. The aftermath of my skin... not so much.

Work as a seasonal worker on a boardwalk one year. Was talking with one of the friendlier local homeless people. He seemed a little burnt so I commented on it. His reply was to say "that's nothing" and he showed me his lobster red sunblistered leg. 5 minutes later he was being loaded into the ambulance to go to the hospital burn unit for the second time that summer.

I was homeless for years in Baltimore so within a day out there I had sun poisoning but then also saw people freeze to death on the sidewalk a few months later . And alot of the time maryland will transition between the two within days so being om the streets you have no idea or way to prepare. It was so cold a couple nights ago it gave me a panic attack feeling like I was om the street in January again and then today and it feels like the middle of summer.

That's so relatable, I can't stand in the sun for one second lol, like- If I'm in a shadow or in a car and I put my arm on a sun beam I can literally feel it burning me up, makes my skin go red even though it's been like, 20 seconds.
I once was suffering from severe dehydration, heat exhaustion, almost heat stroke, and a wicked bad sunburn at a water park in a different state when I was 13. My grandparents noticed I was sluggish and panting and just bought me more ice cream as opposed to water or any fluids. If it wasnt for my sister noticing that I stopped sweating, I likely would've ended up in the hospital. Always drink water and take breaks from the outdoors when in a different part of the world.
you should have gone to the hospital. If you stop sweating that's already a life and death situation, your body is already shutting down and won't be able to fix itself without outside intervention.

I live down south in the US and no, no it does not. The sun cooks your brain too quickly to where you can't think. Half the time people don't even realize how sick they are until they suddenly feel too dizzy to stand or start feeling nauseous. And even then, it's just "I'd better go inside" instead of "holy motherforking shirtballs I could die"

@@RobynhoodlumCan confirm, hypothermia numbs your brain to the point where it doesn’t perceive what should be obvious danger. I got it from trying to walk to work during a snowstorm, after my bus broke down. I tried to cut through a grocery store on the way to warm up a bit.
My first clue something was seriously wrong should have been when I stood just an inch or so away from that hot thing where they keep the rotisserie chicken…and couldn’t actually feel any heat at all.
But by then, my brain was so numb that I just walked right back outside and kept going!
I did manage to make it the office, but it took two full hours of being bundled up in there for my body to START shivering. Meaning it had already given up trying to keep everything outside of my core warm, which is scary to think about.
I live in Brazil, it's always a treat to my eyes seeing people from the north part of the world come here pale as heck and get a sunburn just walking around town. Every summer I see the same thing around the streets lol.

I live in Arizona and when I was 16, I was on the back of my boyfriend's motorcycle. Apparently I got overheated and thankfully passed out and fell off his motorcycle when he came to a red light. I woke up inside a conscience store! It was scary! But it could have been way worse! It could have happened while riding around!

(A 'Standard Option' is an item that is not part of the 'base price,' however you cannot get the vehicle without it. Yes, but unlike at the beach or on a boat most people don't hike or ski with as few clothes on as at the beach. You can get sunburn through clothes but it takes longer and avoids the pain of burning everything possibly including the private bits. Hopefully someone will tell you you look like a cooked lobstah.
This is me when I go out in the sun for more than an 30 minutes without sunscreen. I'm not even Scandinavian! But usually the burning skin sensation tells me I screwed up before my brain and kidneys cook.

I’m from Florida. I also unfortunately have dysautonomia and POTS and thus very heat intolerant… usually takes me wayyy less time to be passing out from heat even with plenty of water. I’m impressed he made it 3 days however that’s also horrifying and I honestly don’t know how it gets to that level but I hope he’s okay now tho!

When my kidney's failed I remember having trouble breathing, no memory of the first 3 days in the hospital, being transferred to a different hospital, etc.
I lacked any awareness of what was going on around me.
I had taken an accidental overdose (taken a new Medication and didn't remember that I had and took another one)

Back in the early 80s I was an EMT in San Diego and paramedics were just starting to be a thing. We were on fire department rotation for emergency calls and one night around 9pm got a call for an unconscious person. Arrived at the home and found a muscular gentleman probably red as the actor in this skit. However, he was in bad shape. He was unconscious, red as can be and hot to the touch and having petite mal seizures. Apparently he was at the beach All day drinking beer came home and fell asleep. His family tried to wake him and when he started to have the seizures they called 911. While there getting ready to scoop and haul had family members get me any ice they had in the freezer and took ice packs and put them underneath his armpits and his groin as a femoral artery is right there. We were Code 3 all the way to the hospital. Don’t know if he made it, imagine he did as we usually heard if we lost someone. Worst case of heat stroke I ever seen.
Friend of mine and friends and her mom decided to go tubing on the Feather River in N CA...but forgot to check pg&e's powerhouse water release schedule.
Low water, deep in the canyon, no road access, 90+F, and wrong shoes...wound up with one person in sneakers managing to go call 911 and a helicopter showed up to winch them out.

I'm a Canadian, and one year I went down to Arizona, and went to the Pima Air museum. I remember feeling super comfortable due to the lack of humidity, but suddenly felt really dizzy. Couldn't figure out why at first, until it hit me that it was severe dehydration. Whoops. 😅
Yeah, it sneaks up on you in the desert. When you’re not sweating, it’s surprisingly easy to miss how hot you are.

Lol i spent like 4 hours on a beach in Florida collecting seashells while my mom and aunt either sat in partial or full shade for the whole time, me and my mom are from way up north and my aunt lives in texas, they are both SEVERAL shades draker than me a shut in, while i was wearing a swim shirt and shorts with wave shoes, a hat and sunglasses i only reapplied sunscreen after we left the beach. Despite this, both my mom and aunt got mild sunburn even though they reapplied and were in the shade about 50% of the time, while i was in direct sunlight the whole time, my legs also got wet so the sunscreen probably didnt do much, yet i got no sunburn, not even the warm feeling. I like to joke that i traded my mosquito immunity for sunburn immunity, but ive always tanned easy, but my sunburn is just not noticeable but hurts like hell
I recently went to St Lucia. Went scuba diving. Despite MULTIPLE coats of factor 50 suncream (strongest you can get in January in the UK 🤦♂️) I got horrendous sunburn on my back. I was definitely borderline sunstroke and considering going to hospital. Luckily I got away with it. Reckon drinking water near-constantly throughout the night helped.
Get travel insurance, kids. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I live in Florida, i was born and raised here. I’ll tell you one thing, if you’re going to go to a Beach pretty much anywhere in the world regardless of whether you’re swimming, tanning, etc etc, you should be almost constantly rehydrating and reapplying sunscreen.
I learned my lesson the hard way when I was 14. I went to a beach called Vero Beach in the East Coast, I hadn’t been to an East Coast Beach in a very long time so I was excited. I was there for 3 days, and each one of those days I was in the water for probably 6+ Hours. I went home with SEVERE sunburn, I don’t know how I didn’t get Sun Poisoning. That was the one and only time I needed to be taught that lesson. Obviously SCUBA Diving comes with its own special measures to be taken but these are just things I know from living in the Environment that many Tourists every year underestimate and pay for, some times tragically. Hydrate, and Shelter every so often, it will save you a lot of trouble. Cheers from across the pond.
I went to the Bahamas for a college course. There was a lot of snorkeling, but also even more riding on a boat and hiking; and knowing that I sunburn pretty easily, I just wore my wetsuit at all times during excursions. I never felt hot (the layer of water that wetsuits trap next to your skin probably helped with that), but I got all kinds of looks from the staff like they thought I was about to drop dead from heatstroke at any moment. Also, there are thousands of aggressive horseflies there, and I was very happy to discover that they can’t bite through a 4mm neoprene wetsuit.
That’s why I always say…stay hydrated and if you’re so white that you can’t handle the southern sun, build yourself up throughout the days🤣
if i ever visit the south im tethered to whatever residence im staying at by how long the garden hose is......... not like i could exercise anyway since the sea level humidity would borderline collapse my asthmatic lungs.
humidity and smoke are my lung's kyrptonite. while just looking at the sun sideways would insta burn me and cause sunstroke in minutes without the hose.

I remember when I was in Arizona ( _I'm Swedish for context_ ) during summer. I do not like warm places at all, Turkey ( _was there when I was like 10-11_ ) was warm but at least it had more humidity. They ( _friend's grandparents_ ) were so concerned about my health because it looked like I was gonna keel over that they placed this super comfortable ice-blanket around my shoulders. So cozy!

I wish you would do some shorts on the ER/ED’s treatments of people without adequate insurance. You must have seen at least one of your “VIP passengers” being sent home, after the ED/ER did the minimal amount of stabilization required by law.

The worst part about sun poisoning or just a really bad sunburn is the next day when all the blisters come and you can’t lie down or sit back or really do much, ooh and say goodbye to hot showers for a while.
I worked at a rental facility and a group had a minor go down outside and their group tried to shade them with a towel for 20 minutes before they came and got me. When I asked if anyone had called 911, they told me that the minor had a medical condition and “passes out occasionally” but would be fine. Needless to say I called 911 right away and they took them to the hospital. The heat index had been over 100, they had been outside most of the day, and were clearly on their way to heat stroke. 🤦🏻♀️
Don’t mess around with heat exhaustion and heat stroke!
I passed out at my tanning salon from overheating Thursday. Tried a new bed, got out early cus I felt overheated, took 2 steps out of the tanning room, vision went black, I fell, hit my head on the corner of a table and then the floor. Woke up and was like “did that really just happen??” Then told them not to call an ambulance cus I don’t have health insurance and I’d be fine (Medicaid dropped me I am waiting for my job to let me get on their plan) Turns out, a lady who works for EMS was in there, just happened to be going to tan, assured me it’s free to just check me out and called EMS for me. Then coincidentally a guy who works with the fire department but was on vacation came in to tan and stayed with me till EMS arrived. Just happened to be lucky I guess! My head didn’t even get a bruise! Safe to say I’ll be sticking with my regular tanning bed in the future. Everyone was so nice but damn that was embarrassing 😂

Canada I can relate! I’m Nordic (Finnish) and I can start burning in 15 minutes.😂 I’m on the Canadian border (Lake Superior). I lived in southern Minnesota for a few years. WAY too hot. I had to come home. Never going again. I traveled a lot in my youth. Home sweet home ❤

They aren't. What's connected to kidneys is dehydration due to exposure. His kidneys are pulverized coz he spent three days under intense sun without drinking
