Grabby hands basics:
R key grabs a block on the surface of wherever your cursor is pointed at. This creates a sort of string that can be used to “push” (mouse wheel forwards) or “pull” (mouse wheel backwards). While holding a block, click and hold the LEFT Mouse Button to use your rotation keys to rotate the block. This is weird because the block will only rotate ABOUT THE SPOT YOU ARE HOLDING IT (this is the important bit). For example: if you hold a small grid gyro by its head you can spin it like a top fairly easy BUT trying to flip it (head over bottom) is very hard. It’s because you are rotating it about the spot you are holding it.
Here’s the trick: Press the RIGHT Mouse Button while holding a block and it will move where you are grabbing it to the center of mass. MEANING now you can rotate it along all axis fairly easily. (Sorry for the random emphasis. I wanted people’s eyes to find the good bits)
Cheers Steven. It thanks to comments like this I do eventually figure it out. I won't mention it specifically when I 'evolve', but I think it's only a couple more episodes until I do it properly.
@@Wellington6012 I figured you would! Loving the series. Hope you make it to space. I'm in space right now and I'm low on ideas on what to do next.
@@stevengibson2286 I have done a lot of savaging, I have one single hydrogen thruster, space seems a very very long way off.
Wellington, you never fail to impress me with your ingenuity and ability to think outside the box with your LCD floors and general workarounds. Thanks for these stories of scrapping your way around Splitsie's wicked mind.
Well it was the scenario that forced me to think outside the box, a sign of a good scenario me thinks.
I believe the compass is part of your hud like your health and oxygen. If your not moving niether will the compass. Very nice drone. I have never messed with drones but you've inspired me!
I figured that out after a while, I don't recall using a drone for location reference and having the hud compass at the same time in previous series, so it was one of those things that I didn't immediately cotton on to.
That drone is nice.
Not bad for a few bits of scrap.
very nice drone. The mountain issue is why I am using "smooth voxels mod". Playing on any planet other than the one on his series, the terrain can be quite rough.
It was a conscious decision for me not to have it, although it is a little annoying the crags don't load in until you're on top of them.
Your lil' shack is so cute, loved it
I know it's only a game, but there's something special in this big dangerous world, about having a nice cozy, safe, little hut to retreat to. I always feel better when my clone is tucked up somewhere comfortable before exiting the game
looking awesome great idea at lifting things
Thanks Fred

❤ ur 👀 & 👍
Am I the only one wondering how that drone dips dives stops and turns without thrusters in all directions?
Practice! I have long history of these sorts of drones, usually missiles, throughout all my previous series. It's an design that will probably fade away over time, as having the new mini thrusters, it's quite cheap and easy to throw a couple of them on to calm down the lateral.
ive beeen playing for hours and just noticed you using the weld pad >:|
It's become one of those standard mods I use for every playthrough and class as 'vanilla', should be in the base game.
Not sure if its international but a red drone after all the red suit shenanigans seems risky
Red suit has had a lot of practice over the years of the technically challenging drone flight and controlling missiles, routine stuff though, terrible.
Liking the vids but, yes, 1:06:24 PLEASE use words. The broken sentences and incoherent mumbles including the s t r e t c h o u t s e n t e n c e s, Uuum's, Ahh's Mmmm's, Grrr's Rrrrr's are kinda ruining the viewing experience (No hate!)
I hear you, it's the format I used for this series (but not every series), I call an edited stream. I acknowledge it's a lazy way of doing it and exacerbates typical mumblings. My habitual speech pattern is not a super easy thing to change and the alternative being editing, takes time. I know how annoying it's been for everyone. My next series I'm specifically not doing it the way I did scrapyard, more editing, more time off camera to think about what I'm going to say.
@@Wellington6012 Thank you for the reply, much appreciated. Its not a deal breaker and you are at least aware of it and its impact. I have been watching your vids on and off since you started the youtubes and very start of your space engineers vod chronicles. You have come a long way since those days and im definite that you are more than capable of self-correcting as you carry on with your journeys. Thank you for all the content. Its been quite the journey for yourself as well as for us, your viewers :)
