- The list of world cup winners in cricket is limited to just six countries. But the game’s governing body, the International Cricket Council, wants that to change. The T20 World Cup is set to expand from 16 teams to 20 starting in 2024 and Turkiye want inon the action. They played their first ever qualifiers for that tournament in Finland in July. Talha Duman spent a day with the Turkish squad ahead of their matches and has this story about their ambitions.

I remember playing games of Cricket in Ankara around 10 years ago. Some at 19 Mayis and some in Kecioren. So pleased to see that the boys who had just started learning then have continued and entered international competitions. Well done to the players and volunteers who made it all possible.

If they have been playing since 2009, it makes of a sorry case. After all these years if they still don't have a decent pitch to practise on or don't have even nets with turf then they will never make any progress. ICC doesn't fund much anymore... BCCI has ruined the fund distribution for smaller countries

Turkiye needs to build a cricket stadium in cities like ankara and Istanbul with proper training facilities. They also need to recruit retired Cricketers for coaching to improve their skills in the game. Popularity is also needed
