  • I harvest part of a field that I don't think I've shown off to you guys before.
If you are new to this series, it is just a bunch of us playing Farming Simulator 17 on a private server. We pick maps that typically have factories or productions as it offers more to do. We always use seasons, gearbox, the more realistic mod, as well as other mods that help enhance realism. The key is using the mp-manager mod which keeps finances separate for each of the 10 farms on the map. I hope you enjoy!

I think the particles weren't better in 13, quite the opposite. The only thing you had more of was the particles of dust that did rise from the cutter. They removed that because those glitched into the cab and that looked horrible with the incab view..
You probably remember some mod-combine of there which were many that had very elaborate and cool looking particles.. (sadly, I could never play those because all those particles made my FPS drop below anything enjoyable..)
I think in 17 most mods use basegame particles because the new mesh-based "particles" are difficult to create and nobody knows how so they just use the basegame stuff.. :D
Btw. you totally should go back and take a look.. Would be a fun episode or stream.. "FS13 MR - second look" or something like that.. Just load up an old save (or a new one if you don't have any anymore) with FS13, MR, some mods.. and see what was good and what was glorified through good memories :D
Also.. You're ranting about row crops I think this would be very difficult to do if not basically impossible without changing the entire foliage system for the worse performance-wise and in its complexity.. And it still wouldn't look like actual rows. Because if it would look like that, the game would need a Supercomputer to run.. I think..
(I mean there's always innovation in Game Development and stuff gets done in new ways nobody thought of before.. But I think this one would be a difficult one..)

modelleicher Oh of course it would take higher performance for row crops. That’s why I’m so sad because I know I probably won’t ever see this or if I do it would be like 20 years from now.

So what is the mechanism like inside the combine to break the corn nibs away from the ear? is it different from the drum that shells the soybean? do you have to do more than just change the header?

It’s the same process but there are a lot of things to adjust. I’ve been wanting to make a video on it for awhile.
The biggest one is changing the concave which is kinda changing the gap on the cylinder in the threshing drum. You change this based on size of grain you thresh and sometimes even needs changing from corn field to corn field because hybrids have different sizes.
There are several other settings like cylinder speed, and sieves(kinda like things that move back and forth panning for gold). There are a few others, I’ll have to show this when I get back on the farm.
