Yes - if you stay NA - Bikeman Stage 3 - if you get it as kit - get center exhaust - quieter than their side exhaust or buy it in pieces and - get RPM 3" Chambered e-valve instead - then you can have performance and/or quiet. I have 1,500 miles after this past week on stage 3, runs like OEM on steroids. For lights I have XL 80's on front bumper (amber), Squadron Pro's on your mirrors and the BD S1 headlight replacement kit (standard not the laser kit) - provides all the light I need - the headlight kit is amazing, worth the $$$. For rear/chase light I also have 35 DSR spare on aftermarket cage - so went with S-2 Pro's for chase - cage builder put tabs at outside edge of rear top crossbar - and you can see lights around the outside of the spare tire. I have been told they can be seen well - asked to turn them off a few times at night, as they were too bright. As you may know all hooked to a switch pro allows you to double tax and have blinking lights for even better rear visability. I will send you a photo to your email on chase set up - I also have BD rear back up lights which are nice as well.
I bought the Bikeman stage 3 kit. Also did a throttle body bore with them. I changed mufflers for noise vs normal Bikeman but never had an issue with motor. Super reliable and incredible performance if you want to stay NA. Also, Bikeman customer service has been excellent for me. Tuning etc..
Very good review. I switched from Speed to a Pro R this past year too and couldn't be happier. I'm like you and am more interested in actual rides than working on my car all of the time, and then worrying every trip as to what will go wrong and ruin the trip. I've only had it in the dunes so far, but have been very happy with its performance. I'm still in the process of installing all of my accessories, but haven't found a cargo box/spare tire carrier so am interested to hear your thoughts or even a review of your MacDermid box. I want to be able to carry a 35" spare when I eventually make it back out to the desert.
The MacDermid box is very roomy, lightweight, and sturdy for a 35" spare. Only challenge is relocating or adding chase lights so I can bee seen on dusty rides.
That's awesome. Currently have a canned ham x3 2 seater and considering a pro r 4 since we have a new addition to the family. Keep up the great content.
Very intersting comments on the speed. It makes me wonder what could have been with the wildcat xx. I have two of them in the high deserts and mountains. We absolutely rip them everywhere from rockcrawling to whoops, trail riding and deep water. They have been great cars. They are now just old and with artic cat going away, i will keep them, but looking for a 4 seater next year. Mine are stock except one i have 32s.
Def a bummer as the chassis and handling are really good.... maybe in a few years they will get the power and reliability sorted so it can truly shine, that heavy chassis needs 300-350 hp to be the car we all know it can be. I just don't think the trans, CVT and axles can handle it though... and I'm not going to spend the money and time to try. I need to see them zipping around Glamis to make me a believer.
Nice video....appreciate your frankness about your experiences with your old and current car! While not a Pro R, my 24 Turbo R4 has been reliable for the initial 2k miles and loving it!
I love your review. I have the 2 seater pro r, stage 3 bikeman, schmidty springs. All I can say is the stage 3 bikeman is a must, extremely happy with it with zero issues after 1000 miles.
I opted to skip my speed and got myself a Pro R 4 second hand and haven't had a single complaint. Such a fun car. I do have one maintenance item which is my driver rear tire has play / movement in it, not sure if its the sphericals or something else.
@@ChupacabraOffroad What we are thinking, we need to get the tire off and check everything out.. Curiously the previous owner powder coated the factory toe links.. I was told by a few that you cant do this and I'm wondering if this is the outcome as to why... so it may end up with a new set of toe links or sphericals, or both.
I'm in the phoenix area, gilbert. There are 3 pro r in our group, couple x3 and we're always ready for a ride. Would love for you to join us or us join you.
I love my KRX, it just lacks hp for big dunes and the rear shocks lack compression resistance to prevent bottoming out (G outs) whoops you just floor it and it soaks them up! Keep the car light mine is built really heavy.
Bikeman kit is a great add, tons of midrange power for glamis. Zero issues with reliability. Watch out for the bolt kit, i bought one and they are still not perfect length shoulders to touch the tabs and not have threads touching the metal. The company selling them agued with me they dont advertise perfect length shoulder just a better shank. In other words they say the stock bolts are thinner in the shank(unthreaded part) and theirs are full size 14mm. Very confusing
Thanks. I went with the Misfit garage, which we have to cut to length, which will be a PITA. The stock hardware is so much beefier than previous gen cars, I love it. But weird that it isn;t shanked properly. I DNFed a race in my old race car once so I just want to ensure I'm buying peace of mind... thanks for the feedback as always!
Said same thing about the speed car that it was a super car. The only cars to get are the Mav R and pro R I have two of each. I do prefer the Mav R over the pro R though but both are great cars.
Polaris guy here, so appreciated the good words. I know you have littles, so glad you got some reliability. What is your take on Tensor's sand tires? Curious to hear your opinion. Thanks. Also (since you mentioned...) what is your opinion on MTS vs Shock Therapy? Jonathan (Off Road Diaries) says "Mo power - mo problems" so take that into consideration. I want to do exhaust, but am skeptical after that.
Yes, reliability with the kids is so nice....I had a really bad experience when I used Shock Therapy, and know others that get their cars back and they are really soft, and not really setup for aggressive driving. The Tensor sand tires are the best current choice for a mid priced paddle tire, they have a 33 and a 35 now, Obor is coming to market with something similar this Summer, but Tensors are half the price of my STU's, or Rogue and other high end paddle tires. If you are looking more budget, or only hit the dunes 1-2x per year, the Tensors are a great option.
That Polaris is gutless rotten suspension. It’s not dependable at all. I haven’t even see it when King Of The Hammers bring it show it and you end up losing every time you guys are hotdogs and you’re driving a crap of shit.
@chupacabraoffroad Don’t you just love this generation of gimme gimme spoiled people online who think the world is a menu for them. I don’t see anyone else in the comment section with a successful UA-cam channel. Keep doin you man I appreciate the variety of your channel! Should I add power? Which setup? Not keen on 10K for a turbo....

I would probably just do cams, clutch/mild tune. Reliable and rips
I have this exact set up, bikeman stage 3, rpm exhaust. @@johnm7340
Machine is so good, happy to see you got a reliable machine again.
Pro r or Mav r ?

Yes its great, easy install. Ill let you take mine for a rip I'd you want to try it out.

Toe link possibly?

Just leave it alone. Enjoy the power and if you feel the suspension can be upgraded then go for it.
Pro R for sure. Gonna piss off some Caned-Ham fanboys.
It's all good man, our next car might end up being a Mav R, they all have strengths and weaknesses.
