In the 70s I used hang out with the younger brother of the motor builder and driver of the first successful rx3 drag car in the United States. No turbo. He won a number of NHRA national championships with that car. NHRA created new rules several years in a row in order to make the car less competitive. But the car kept winning. The car was called the samurai warrior. Video of car on line. And Story about how the car kept beating the rules.
That's fast for it is. Not a pro mod. And almost looks likemitsma radical street car. Love these cars because of how light they are. Especially when you put in either a big turbo or twin turbo rotary or 4cyl. With turbos now a days being so powerful and the general public having the know how to work it. Can make cars fast for cheap when you go the light way. Imagine how much harder would be to do low 7s with this car if it had a heavy big block in the front and a few big bottles of nitrous.
