It's a trap for the government, if anyone gets hit in the crossfire their threat assessment is way off base. Consistency in policy and equal application of the rule of law is paramount to the founding and continued ideals of this United States. Policymakers and those who police them often let their own biases cloud their application of the law, both in spirit and in letter. While these types of clubs are often responses to similar religious organizations, it's primarily an audit of our freedoms of expression in that very area. Fighting it proves their point and shows you shouldn't be governing or policing, which thankfully you don't appear to be.
