Wait until you get hive beetles. I put Grub-X in the soil around my hives. They say that can help. Hope so. Those hive beetles are a trip.
We have an oxalic acid evaporator for beetle treatment.

I’ve been told not to use unrefined sugar for bees but not why. I think since they drink hot Dr. Pepper from the trash cans at the ball field it will be fine.
Someone mentioned that to me as well. They said it was connected to dysentery but I could not find any connection in the research that I did.
We eat and use a Lot of honey.
I don’t have a clue about bee hives.
I know that you’ve talked about them in MI but I really don’t understand how to keep them from freezing.
I bought the bee keeping for dummies book and it is a wealth of information.
