I googled sharmin Segal who plays alam beg and the central love story character. She is Bhansali's sister's daughter (bela sehgal) . It's a clear case of nepotism gone wrong as she can neither act nor looks pleasant. She's brought the series down by few notches surrounded by such top class acting caliber.
Finaaly it was not only me, throughout the whole series alamvs face was so expressionless. I felt so annoyed seeing such beautiful character performed by a expressionless actress
Atleast karan johar got good nepo kids on to the screen , and bhansali is like cant even call him new karan johar under nepotism, made his own name for that term, i am speechless for his selection of her niece to play alam, i mean … heights
So good! Love the entire series. Everyone in the cast did a great job, but Sonakshi and Manisha truly stole the show with her captivating performance. The songs were enchanting, the costumes were exquisite, and the cinematography was breathtaking. Congratulations to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the entire team for crafting such a mesmerizing cinematic experience.
Sonakshi and Manisha nailed it. Richa Chaddha deserved more. Sharmin is why this tanked for me. Also weak writing. Richa's death in the show is so out of place, from nowhere. Just suggests a weak plot. You don't expect people involved in a major revolutionary conspiracy to be so careless or brainless to let documents lie around their home for anyone to see in a party where they literally invite the enemy and ask them to take a tour of the house. The writing is so weak towards the end that the hype from first two episodes fizzle out in the worst way possible. It's almost like they themselves got bored of it.
The series was really good and as far as the acting of Sharmin Sehgal is concerned, i feel she is just a debutant thats why maybe she couldn't express much on screen. After all it takes time to improve.
Another saawariya level thing by bhansali...although manisha koirala is commendable, but the casting of sharmin sehgal and sonakshi sinha looks like an employment plan for nepotism kids. And the pace of the series will make u cry.
Loved the series the start and ending was fantastical the middle part was a little slow and boring eveyone did a great a job except for that one girl sharmin bhansali truly did justice the real history of heeramandi presented us their glamour tehzeeb their power their darkness their heroism and their destruction by the British all in one show stories that were told like folkes before this
Style is the hallmark of a Bhansali production. It is not a documentary. Plus the setting of those times was opulent. I loved the couple of episodes I’ve seen so far. Very operatic.
I have seen many reviews. Some people are only criticising because it's about Lahore !!!! . Its an excellent movie larger than life and a deep story told in a grand manner, which is sanjay's forte
"Patriarchy, Privilege,Queer Identity,Weaponizing" it's amazing how She managed to fit in all the Buzz words applicable 😂 Not surprised that this is one of the only positive reviews for a series that tries to glorify courtesans as freedom fighters
When I first saw the scene featuring Sharmin Segal Mehta in "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," directed by the renowned Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I was thrilled. However, this excitement stemmed more from Bhansali's choice to cast Segal Mehta than from her acting itself. Unfortunately, Sharmin Segal Mehta's portrayal of the main character fell short of expectations. Her acting lacked the depth and nuance necessary for such a significant role. Her facial expressions and voice failed to convey the emotions required, and her physical appearance, including her eyes and lips, did not seem to fit the character's essence. This is not to say that Sharmin Segal Mehta is devoid of talent, but she might be better suited for different roles. Perhaps she could shine in a side villain role, similar to those in "Naagin" serials or "Saas-Bahu" dramas, where her style might be more fitting. Ironically, Segal Mehta's performance inadvertently highlighted the exceptional skills of her co-stars. Her lackluster acting made their performances stand out even more. Despite this, the overall direction by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was excellent, and the story itself was compelling and beautifully executed. In summary, while the film boasts strong performances from the majority of its cast and benefits from Bhansali's masterful direction, Sharmin Segal Mehta's acting did not meet the high standards set by her peers and the director. This contrast, however, only served to enhance the viewing experience by emphasizing the professionalism and talent of the other actors involved.
WTF did I just watch ? Just plain blind appreciation of the series over looking the errors and then at the end by giving 3 stars after all the blatant appreciation ?!🙂
The series had only exaggerated dialogues and that's all, it was full of historical inaccuracies, though fictional yet while depicting the Pre Independence Era you need to keep some facts right. The story fell flat and every narrative wasn't translated well and there was no coordination between the scenes. Till episode 7 Mallika and Fareedan were arch enemies and suddenly in episode 8 they joined hands and to continue the fire of rebellion that these courtesans had been avoiding for so long carrying a neutral stance all of sudden became their only purpose. The entire show only relies on dialogues, costumes and big sets. Aditi Rao Hydari was the only actor who shone throughout. She was beautiful and was an absolute treat to the eyes. Manisha was ok, Sharmin was terrible, very very bad, Sanjeeda was good, however her character had no closure, neither could she complete her vengeance nor was she ever rewarded for her loyalty. To be honest, her character was absurd. Surprisingly the actor playing Saima was brilliant and the other supporting actors acted pretty well. Such hype and this was the outcome! Sad!
Errrr Quint! Your so called critic has “loved” Sharmin’s “performance” as Alamzeb 😹 😐I saw this video till she began heaping praises on that non actress! I can’t watch this any further because I don’t want to watch a PR driven paid review! Shame on this ‘critic’ for not having the guts to call a horrible performance a horrible one! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
Absolutely rotten show … so much dramatizations . Not well researched at all .. actually not researched at all . All the ladies wearing such expensive designer clothes .. and living in such huge mansions .. NOT THE REALITY .. terrible acting by the young couple … unrealistic .. just a big FLOP
I just wish wo alam ka character na hota......she was so boring ....totally dead inside out 😂 the whole love story angle was a waste .... Richa chaddha deserves more screen time, sanjeeda ka character wasn't well written
Mostly SBL stereotype. Elaborate setting, gorgeous costumes rtc. But we have seen this before. Very slow and boring. The episodes are unnecessarily lengthy.
Heeramandi is total bakwas...don't know why such big actresses seem so expressionless. Sets, dances, scene sequences, charactersisation are copied from old movies like Mughal-e-azam, pakeezah etc. Didn't expect this from Bhansali.
Hindi movie ka review ye english main q karati hai.... Upper se 1 line hindi ki and 4 line english ki bol ke irritate karati hai. Or please itna acting karne ki jarurat bhi nahi hai.
This show seems like watching sanwariya with a new set and look, ek bhi gana thik se lipsinc nahi kiya gaya, na hi ek bhi mujra aisa tha jo dekhne layak hai, baat jab itni badi tawayaf ko ho jo apni adaon ke liye famous hai uske baad bhi ek bhi aisi tawayaf nahi jiske mujre main koi expressions ho, na kahani thik se present ki gayi hai na hi characters ko thik se portray kiya gaya, Kabhi manisha is so good aur ek min main bad, aur ek hi se 2 alag alag characters play kerwaye ge that was so confusing kabhi adhyan suman shekhar suman ka young role play aur next scene main woh koi aur nawab hai, sonakshi maa bhi beti bhi, worst was Sharmin koi expression nahi her scene main same. Kuch scene itne dark hai ki thik se samjh hi nahi ate, over all sara dhyan bas set aur kapde ache bana ne main laga diye, acting average thi sab ki. bahut kuch missing tha .
Hypocrisy of this channel is when she can se justified nationalism in heeramandi , who love for country rise when their own home heeramandi freedom was at stake usse pehle kisi tawaif ko ghanta fark nai tha. But agr fighter aur 370 me desh prem dikhaye to ine vo ghalat lagta hai abe ek Fauji ko apne desh se to pyar hoga hi. Propaganda justify ye log karte hai ghatia

Can't agree more. She was a pain to my eyes, couldn't watch her scenes and mostly fast forwarded them. Zero expressions!
Finaaly it was not only me, throughout the whole series alamvs face was so expressionless. I felt so annoyed seeing such beautiful character performed by a expressionless actress
She had a great role and so much screen time yet she wasted it
She worked as assistant director with bhansali. And yes everyone were top notch. Except her
Atleast karan johar got good nepo kids on to the screen , and bhansali is like cant even call him new karan johar under nepotism, made his own name for that term, i am speechless for his selection of her niece to play alam, i mean … heights
Whenever Sharmin Segal used to come on screen i used to fast forward 😂..such kind of nepotism is not at all expected from Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Sharmin Sehgal so wrong casting !! Expressionless
Completely agree
100% agree cringeeeee acting soooo bad
Totally agree with you
Cannot agree more
Ya expressionless
Sharmin was an eyesore… couldn’t stand her. Rest of the cast -Aditi, Sonakshi, Manisha, Sanjeeda, Richa were outstanding
He could have cast Huma Qureshi also. She is stunning

Crap review…horrible performance by alamza character whateve her real name is….. worst actor…. Cringeeeeee …. Aditi was the best.
Didn't like Sharmin Sehgal at all 🤦🏻♀️
Sharmin's character alam was soo beautiful but her acting, her expressionless face ruined it
The series was really good and as far as the acting of Sharmin Sehgal is concerned, i feel she is just a debutant thats why maybe she couldn't express much on screen. After all it takes time to improve.
The fact that she got an SLB tv show as her debut shows how powerful nepotism is
Manisha Koirala stole the show
Another saawariya level thing by bhansali...although manisha koirala is commendable, but the casting of sharmin sehgal and sonakshi sinha looks like an employment plan for nepotism kids. And the pace of the series will make u cry.

Manisha gave a Stellar Performance 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Richa chaddha ka itna chota role, aditi rao , ar dusre characters ka bhi Boring ho gaya tha story weak, bohot wait tha but literally disappointed

I have seen many reviews. Some people are only criticising because it's about Lahore !!!! . Its an excellent movie larger than life and a deep story told in a grand manner, which is sanjay's forte
Ustad 's acting was too good along with Manisha and Sonakshi.
Manisha koirala fabulous acting.Award winning performance.
"Patriarchy, Privilege,Queer Identity,Weaponizing" it's amazing how She managed to fit in all the Buzz words applicable 😂 Not surprised that this is one of the only positive reviews for a series that tries to glorify courtesans as freedom fighters
I loved HEERAMANDI❤

Such a bore this series turned out to be
Aur kisi ne itna deep, psychoanalytic review nahi diya. Bravo ❤

I disagree with her on appraising Sharmin's performance. She is the weakest point of the whole series!

Sharmin's got such a big role but is the worst actor in the series
I hope u got good money for this
The moment u said what performance alam gave 😂😂😂😂
Mostly SBL stereotype. Elaborate setting, gorgeous costumes rtc. But we have seen this before. Very slow and boring. The episodes are unnecessarily lengthy.
We asked for a review not a paid review....😂😂😂
Thank you ❤
Most welcome mam❤
Manisha koirala best actress !!
Heeramandi is total bakwas...don't know why such big actresses seem so expressionless. Sets, dances, scene sequences, charactersisation are copied from old movies like Mughal-e-azam, pakeezah etc. Didn't expect this from Bhansali.
Sanjeeda bhi achi thi

Manisha Koirala ❤❤❤❤❤ awesome

Very well reviewed Mishra ji! 😇
director who is obsessed with randi's hate this movies
Pesa mila hai. Sharmin Segal ko best act bolri hai. It was horribly wooden. Hardly any expressions.

Manisha ok??? You are so weird!! Manisha was the best!!
Sharmin role was also good🫶🏻❤️🩹💕
SHARMIN stuck out like a sore thumb!
Hypocrisy of this channel is when she can se justified nationalism in heeramandi , who love for country rise when their own home heeramandi freedom was at stake usse pehle kisi tawaif ko ghanta fark nai tha. Paid review 😢
Movie hindi he aur ye मोहतरमा इंग्लिश बोल री हे कोन लोग dekhte
Quint English speaking viewers ke liye hai so don’t watch the channel if you can’t understand English
Talking too much
पहिले तो हिंदी समझ नही आती उपरसे इंग्लिश कुछ समझ नही आया
Pathetic series
Heeramandi ya Heerarandi 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
