I had a skiiers thumb injury playing soccer. This is a specific UCL injury where the piece of the thumb that is connected to the UCL breaks off, and the UCL pulls it up into your arm. This ligament is what your thumb uses to press into your palm. It's pretty much impossible to hold anything without your UCL being attached. After surgery it took me 12 weeks to get to about 70% mobility, and that's as good as it ever got. I hope forbes has a better situation. My surgeon told me I had to choose between strength and mobility, so I chose strength. Strength-wise I am 100%.
