"Kill Your Darlings", the Beat Generation, & Lucien Carr: historical context, analysis, & commentary

- In this fan video (which involves commentary/analysis on the movie "Kill Your Darlings"), I start with a powerpoint on historical context for the formation of the Beat Generation (including some tidbits about Lucien Carr and the other Beats), and then show key movie scenes with commentary while explaining the references.
I've also posted audio recordings where I cross-reference the chapters covering Lucien/David/the murder, from three books (an autobiography by Edie Parker and two semi-autobiographies by Kerouac) that mention the topic, which the movie may have pulled details from.
FYI: I put some of my own subjective interpretation/commentary on it. THIS IS A FAN VIDEO, and isn't meant as an academic source itself; rather, it's a home project on a topic I found interesting thus took a deeper dive into (not to mention some of the Beat sources out there are at times subjective or vague with conflicting info). Hopefully it can help explain some of the references missed by the movie though, and be enjoyable and informative for those interested! ^__^
More references: -"And the Hippos Were Boiled in their Tanks" (another semi-autobiographical novel written by William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac that focuses more on Lucien Carr. I've read some of their letters. Allen, Lucien and Jack do remain close even after the murder. In fact, they still constant hang out and went on faraway trips together.

I think this video just added 10 years onto my lifespan, the most insightful thing I've watched? read? listened? to in a long while, this was just hands down brilliant. I have never experienced so much excitement over a commentary video yet here we are, please never stop. The script of the film is worth visiting too, it's a shame how much they had to cut out but understandable considering the resources they had at their disposal and the length it would've been.

jack kerouac was no rich man! he was raised in poverty, dropped out of college and became an auto-didact, something he was very proud of
True, Lucien and Burroughs came from old money, but Jack's family was working class.

It's interesting to me that this movie makes no mention of Neal Cassady, one of the strongest Beat influencers and lover of Ginsburg for 20 years.

Nice presentation. Well Done and entertaining. Many think of the Beats as diamonds, a metaphor of perfection and aims, symbolizing the best. Lucien Carr had something real to contribute.
