Still behind Germany, United Kingdom France and Italy isn't that great - especially that behind Italy part has to burn. Numbers look even worse per capita. Though maybe he's got diffrent numbers? There is a small point here that Russia didn't suffer as much as expected and especially Germany is looking at quite the recession.

Even that is incorrect as Germany, UK and France - AT LEAST - out pacing russia in economy, with other metrics even showing such countries as Italy, Holand and Spain ahead of russia in the most important economic factors.

@@STzim russia is suffering BEYOND what it claims - russia cooks the books - while Germany always has plans for recessions, in factvriding it out is part of the plan as in economy often the path of least resistance can bring better results. Recessions are an inevitability of capitalism and often comes as a plate cleance for the accumukation of economic malpractices caused by neoliberalism. Things only get worse if the neoliberals try to keep everything as it was, basically trying to fit a square in a circle.

To be fair to putin, he talked about purchasing power parity. In that it's just behind germany, according to the imf, so number two in europe. PPP doesn't mean much though when you're talking about absolute economic "power". It just means if it wasn't a shithole (which it is) it would be doing about as well as germany (with almost twice the population). So not really a flex lol.

Every word Putin spoke was true. The west has big plans for Ukraine THESE ARE THEIR WORDS. 1, They plan to shut down farming in Europe making it the crime of ECOCIDE punishment jail move it all to Ukraine. 2, Shitstain 🇬🇧 has spent big in Odesaa and the coast hoping Ukraine would build cheap warships. 3, Israelistan owns 30% of the land in Ukraine Black Rock and Vanguard planned to buy 100%. 4, Israelistan owns almost every major business in Ukraine just as they own Australian businesses. 5, Ukraine is losing the war its Military decimated. Redacted in the US announced Israelistan 🇺🇲 has ordered ZZelinsky to replace its entire government with western educated people who are LOYAL TO AMERICA this accounts for General Zalhuznyi a UkroNazi his replacement more acceptable to RUSSIA and the WEST. 6, The ploy to take Ukraine and the southern ports failed tbey thought they could fill it with war ships and block Russia's warm water ports. 7, The west thought creating a UkroNazi state yes there is film of an American Nazi explaining how the CIA used US Nazis to create AZOV Shitstain 🇬🇧 created right sector 1 and 2 using UK Nazis other groups KRAKEN etc exist they were handed territories where they ruled like medieval Barons. The war to collapse Russia failed Europe and Israelistan are bled dry of weapons cash and raw materials they hoped to steal via the total collapse of Ukraine and Russia have evaporated theyre broke. And now Africa has cut them off by stopping the looting of resources paying pennies on the dollar. China has stepped in providing massive infrastructure development at low cost instead of the IMF giving loans for mining etc where they set the price they pay. Israelistan or Firestone had a 100 year contract from 1926 where they paid Niger 6 cents per acre for 4 million acres 2,4 million per year. Ukraine is not a democracy all political parties are banned some leaders jailed. There is no free press reporters comply or face execution in the streets. Pablo Lira a US journalist was recently tortured there eventually dieing with no aid from Israelistan. Ukraine has committed thousands of war crines Germany led a commission to investigate Russian war crimes they got 300 all against the Ukraine Military. They have cut up the bodies of wounded UKR and Russian soldiers to sell the parts to Europe run by a female doctor from the Netherlands. They have fired on their own wounded trying to surrender ON FILM in fact the film of UKRONAZIS execution and torture of Russian soldiers was done on the orders of ZZelinsky himself. He also passed an order that anyone refusing to fight can be executed on the spot there is plenty of UKR film of that happening Poland complained when their Mercs were executed for refusing a suicide mission. The only question left given the desperate situation of the population who are being grabbed off the streets and sent to the front is how long before they take out ZZelinsky his own troops are already threatening him.

That's the problem with going up to an egotistical totalitarian maniac and telling him "YOU SUCK, YOU'RE EVIL... Wait why aren't you granting my requests for an interview?" Like so many journalists and politicians are too invested in virtue signaling instead of reporting or diplomacy. Sometimes you need to bite your tongue in order to get to the bottom of things. You can't just run in like a screaming banshee and expect to get the same results as someone who tries to be a bit more tactful.
(It certainly doesn't help that journalists that are tactful are attacked and labeled as being traitors because they don't start an argument mid-interview and get kicked out for unruly behavior as a sign of protest... Or maybe it's to eliminate and discredit competition?)
Reminds me of one short I saw about an overweight computer guy talking about "we already have a journalist in Russia!" (And he goes into how he's imprisoned, not at all why he was.) Really, we already have a journalist? (A WSJ hired one nonetheless.) ONE journalist? And we can only have one journalist per country? Come on man, that's cope.
I don't care if Tucker wants to suck Putin's toes. I want to hear the lies Putin has to say. I don't want some dressed up personality telling me that "it's too dangerous for you to hear, it might corrupt your mind and turn you alt-right!!!" I think they're afraid of people creating their independent thoughts and narratives. Even if it already aligns with their narrative, they don't like the precedent it sets. Could spell disaster in the long run. Especially since it incentivizes people to look at other news sources because the mainstream ones already blew their shot. Being careless and pandery.

    • @GarrulousHerald

Some credit? He actually went up there like a journalist and interviewed Putin. He didn't intentionally antagonize Putin as a form of virtuous protest so that the opinionated people know who to side with and what news sources to "trust" as a circlejerk. Because midwits hate having to think up their own thoughts. Because the mainstream is in the business of propagandizing, there is an actual demand for real unfiltered news. Tucker saw that demand, and whatever his biases may be, took advantage of it. And I will have to say, I'm loving this return to more "traditional" journalism.

I searched roughly 1 hour in different german archivs and the library of my universtity for "bismarck" and "potential", and couldnt find anything.

It's a paraphrase but otherwise correct. It was a common theme with Bismarck that the external perceptions of your country are guided by its potential to undertake warfare, actual or economic. The section from the interview is:
"The West is afraid of a strong China more than it fears a strong Russia because Russia has 150 million people, and China has a 1.5 billion population, and its economy is growing by leaps and bounds -- over five percent a year, it used to be even more. But that's enough for China. As Bismark once put it, potentials are most important."
When questioned over his "Blood and Iron" speech, Bismarcks response was :
"The importance of a state is measured by the number of soldiers it can put into the field of battle"
Bismarcks speech to the Reichstag in 1888 again emphasizes dictating the attitudes of others (most importantly the French) through the increased potential of a unified Germany:
"We must, to put it briefly, be as strong in these times as we can possibly be, and we can be stronger than any other nation of equal numbers in the world...if we do not need our full armed strength, we need not summon it.
      ...
By nature we are rather tending away, the one from the other. But the Franco-Russian press within which we are squeezed compels us to hold together, and by pressure our cohesive force is greatly increased.
      ...
But we must respond to the intentions of providence by making ourselves so strong that the pikes can do nothing but encourage us."
All of this is about unifying Germany to increase its potential.

      or in Russian:
Несмотря на Крымскую трагедию, Бисмарк считал положение России в международных отношениях прочным, лишь несколько ослабленным статьями Парижского мирного договора, и отмечал большой внутренний и международный потенциал государства

I think it is from a personal correspondence regarding the difference in industrial potential between the north German confederation and the austrian alined German states before the austro-prussian war in 1866. But they have only the sleightest resemblance. In that letter at least, Bismarck did not say the sentence, that Putin quotes. But our happiness was not to last, for Mata Nui’s brother, the Makuta, was jealous of these honors and betrayed him: casting a spell over Mata Nui, who fell into a deep slumber...
The Makuta was free to unleash his shadows.
    And unleash them, he did…

Honestly, I looked at how Russian historians reacted to the interview with Putin and Carlson and learned a lot of interesting facts.
    1. Putin said that the southern lands of Rus' (Ukraine) themselves began to move away from the general culture of Rus'. In fact, they were captured by Lithuania, and Ukrainian culture began to take shape even before the Mongol invasion.
    2. Putin said that Ukraine promised to be a neutral country and not enter into any alliances. In fact, there is nothing of the kind in the act of declaring the independence of Ukraine, and Ukraine, like Russia, could freely form or join existing military or economic blocs.
    3. Putin said that the Russian leadership initiated the collapse of the Soviet Union, only Putin himself at that time was part of this same Russian leadership and, in fact, Putin blamed himself for the collapse of the Soviet Union. Idiot.
    4. Putin actually admitted his defeat in the war, but he is not going to give up the conquered territories, and therefore Putin is waiting for the West to make concessions, that is, to begin negotiations on the Korean scenario.
As a citizen of the Russian Federation, I am very angry with our president and, unfortunately, I have no other options for influencing the authorities than to ask to invade my country, but this means the third world war. If anyone believes that the upcoming elections in Russia will be fair and transparent, then you are naive. I'm tired of living in a country where the head of state uses power as a means of his own entertainment, and not for the benefit of the country's population.
I remember Putin once said: *Why do we need a world where there will be no Russia?*
I also want to say something: *Why do we need a Russia ruled by Putin?*

As a history geek, then I cant wrap my head around the idea that Poland forced Hilter to invade and start WW2. If that was the case, then what where the false flag operation "Gleiwitz Incident" even for? Im sure Hilter would had other reasons to justify for war against Poland if Poland forced Hilter to invade. And I also like how the discount Hilter saying that WW2 started on the extact date, like it was planned all along. It started on that date because Hilter invaded Poland, and UK and France at the time said stop. The war could in all honesty had started earlier or later then 1st of September.
And on the topic of WW2. I dont know if Putin said it during that interview, but I know he claimed before that USSR won WW2 all alone. Which isnt true. USA especially and UK helped to supply USSR with the Lend Lease, and USSR had been on the backbone if it wasnt for the supply of war equipment and vehicles. Also, to point out, it was also USSR leaders at the time that whined that the allied should open up an other front in Europe, which the allied already had planed with Operation Overlord. That is why the Italian front got so messy, because there wasnt time to prepare fully and it was rushed to pressure the germans. USSR nearly made the war in Europe fail because they werent able to keep momentum and wanting the allies to take of the pressure from the eastern front

The right hand isn't talking to the left. Russian propaganda has two flavors - one for Russians and one for the West. The messaging is very different between RT exported to the West and the internal news programs in Russia. The problem for Putin in this interview is that both audiences would watch. So Tucker softballed questions to coax answers that would satisfy pro-Rus Westerners. But Putin couldn't give those answers because they contradicted what he told Russians. It was a glorious lose-lose. I now use reaction videos to this interview as a litmus test for who is smart enough to recognize what happened. But in the context of the interview, he's referring to the post WWI wars in Eastern Europe during the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the complete political mess that ended up favoring the National Socialists in Germany being directly or indirectly tied to Polish action/inaction.
Obviously the entire thing is making a mountain out of a molehill, but you gotta take into account that it's not trying to dissuade you from a Western POV, but rather reinforcing Putin's and, in a roundabout way, Russia's entire geopolitical history and the reason why they have to frame stuff the way they do (Supposed Denazification of a country led by a Jewish president, for instance).

Having watched the whole interview (I recommend putting the video on 1.5x or higher speed) the historical revisionism is kinda hilarious, the later half is Putin basically dodging the responsibility of declaring war on Ukraine by saying everyone else didn't play ball, therefore it is all these other country's fault.
Putin does a lot of lying by omission, which btw is what Tucker rants endlessly about in his usual claims about how we're all being lied to.
So, Putin omitted a lot of history that would make his position look bad and I mean a LOT is omitted.
Even the thing about Poland "starting WW2" omits things like German demands (they didn't just want Danzig, Germany expected Poland to say no as well), also about how the USSR simultaneously invaded Poland by agreement with Germany.
Anyway, Putin is running a pokerface strategy where his hand is crap and thus he has to bluff everything. All of his interview is about showing that he is in a strong and legitimate position, which being a bluff, means he is in a weak and illegitimate position.

One thing worth mentioning which might be quite scary if you think about it, is that majority of Americans do not know or care about WW2 history that much beside what happened in the theatres of war that directly involved Americans. So for a lot of people Putin's version is going to be now the defacto story of how WW2 started. A lie told a thousand times becomes a reality.

6:00 The writing on top of the bridge tower says: Yana, I Love You!
Don't know who Yana is, but it is important!
...Must be a swell lass, if she deserves climbing on top of this thing.

2:20 Putin clearly stated he was talking about GDP in terms of PPP. You must have missed that part. Per World Bank statistics, he was absolutely correct. Russia overtook Germany as the largest economy in Europe in terms of PPP.

Well...yes, but not exactly how he meant it I don't think.

The notion that Ukrainians do not exist as a district group from Russians is nonsensical, and Ukrainians could easily claim the same thing about Russians. While there is truth that they have a common origin as East Slavic people, the point at which they start to diverge is around the same time the Normans conquer Anglo-Saxon England. If the Russians and Ukrainians are not distinct people groups (albeit on sort of a language continuum) then neither are the Spanish different from the French, or the Dutch from the English or Germans.
But I think more significantly the whole notion that not have a historical state removes your right to self-determination is nonsense. It is the logic of Hapsburg era imperial Europe. Before the mid-19th century there was never an Italian or German state, no Finnish nation state, no Croatia, no independent Norway. This does not mean these people did not have rights to form states of their own.

One thing about Lukashenko's photo next to the map - Transnistria is already occupied by russian troops and the arrow shows an attack from transnistria towards Odessa, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, if russia somehow manages to annex the whole of ukraine it will probably also invade the republic of moldova, it already occupies the region of transnistria and can influence moldovan politics to a certain point (sponsoring politicians and bribing voters, also broadcasting propaganda to the russian minority who lives there), it can also start small conflicts in transnistria whenever it wants so its already set up for a potential invasion (significant russian minority they can claim is oppressed by the moldovan government and russian troops present to arm rebels or just launch attacks while pretending to be "rebels fighting against opressive government").

I am Russian, I am from Crimea. I currently am mostly on the Ukrainian side as lets just say a lot of evidence is on that (while the other side is mostly anecdotal evidence). I cannot believe that Putin dare say that Poland started ww2, cause it sounds like ignorance like saying USSR saved the baltic states or saying USSR saved Poland.

I watched about 5 minutes of the interview. I just happened to catch the part where he blamed Poland. I laughed/cried and switched it off.
    I can't even.

He didn't "blame Poland". He explained what was happening, although that topic requires hours of conversation. Poland made mistakes regarding their relationship with Germany prior to WW2, there is simply no denying that. Their refusal to cede territory that they took from Germany after WW1, where mostly Germans lived was also a mistake. They had no reason to hold on to those lands and risk war. They overestimated their allies and underestimated Germany.
