How To Wrap a Glass Tumbler Using Printable Vinyl and a Laminate Sheet

- Tumblers are fun to make, but what do you do when you have a design with multiple colors? You could layer the design with all the colors of vinyl, but you could save a lot of time by using printable vinyl instead. You can use the whatever cutting machine you choose for this tutorial but today I used my Cricut explore 3. This design turned out so cute on the cup and I cannot wait to try more!

The overlapping of the heart was cute. I just started doing cricut projects, currently making a Winnie the Pooh but layered the first try was an outline

Such a great idea!!! I love the idea of printable vinyl. I think it takes too much time to do all the layers so I never tried.
I’m not a fan of layering so it makes a project that would normally have layering really easy.

@@MyKraftyLife thank you and thank you for responding. Is there a difference in quality between heat press mugs and adhesive vinyl? I’m trying to decide where to start.
I think the adhesive vinyl is a good place to start. You can still put vinyl on the mugs used for sublimation. They are just made for sublimation. There just may be a price difference. Just make sure your customers know they are hand wash only.

Look how beautifully it weeded, I was struggling today with my cricut making printable vinyl wraps😣 I couldn’t get the cut settings right🤦♀️
I did have to cut it twice to get it to cut with my cricut. My tip is when you cut it don’t unload it from your mat. Check and see if it cut through first. If it didn’t cut all the way through, cut again on the same setting or a try a different one to see if it that one works better. I hope this helps.

LOVE THIS! Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve just barely dipped my toes into print then cut and didn’t think of creating a whole cup design with the holographic sticker paper! lol! Did you use strong grip transfer tape to apply it to the cup?
You’re welcome! I used printable vinyls and then I applied the holographic laminate sheet. I just used regular transfer tape and worked fine for me. Thanks for watching!

It's really cute! If you wanted to design the lid to match the cup, how would you do that?
I would recommend layering vinyl if you wanted to design the lid. But remember hand wash only.
I love this idea can’t wait to try it. This is so much easier than what I just did. What size cup are you using and what measurements is your design
I’ll have to check the design in design space. I did mention the design measurements in the video though. I’ll comment again when I’m able to get back to my computer

I did go back and rewatched the video and read the transcripts and I do see where you did measured but the problem I’m having is that at first you measured the hight at 5in but you didn’t measure the width. But then a bit further down the video when you went to cut the holographic sheet you somewhat measured the width but didn’t say what it was. So that is why I was asking because I have 2 16 oz glass cups and had trouble with the first one not having the right measurements

My daughter has been using it and hand washing it and it has been holding up. I wouldn’t keep it sitting in water. But it has been doing good so far.
to get the bubble out of the center instead of re-peeling it. poke a lil hole in the bubble and it will pop

It still looks good. Keep in mind it’s hand wash only.
❤❤❤ I just purchased a Cricut mug press and haven’t been able to do any! Because, my Chromebook doesn’t pick it up. Bring that it doesn’t go into my Bluetooth 😢 I also tried on my iPhone and my Apple iPad. I have been going crazy on trying to find a way to activate it.
I want to do those lovely clear plastic with my mugs, etc.. 😍😍😍
I hope you’re able to get it to work! I haven’t used the mug press by cricut so I’m not familiar with it so I hope it works out for you. I’ve heard their customer care is really helpful so I would reach out to them to find out which computers are compatible.This project would be perfect for a mug since you would print and cut until you get your mug press to work. You have to use an actual PC in order to connect the mug press because you have to connect it to the PC via the USB cable

I haven’t washed it yet. It’s a gift for my daughter. As long as it’s hand washed it will hold up just fine.

I loved ❤your work but I want to know if this lasted on the cup with alot of washes??
This can last with hand washes only. But I would advise to not use a design that has intricate parts like the whiskers on the hello kitty. That is the only part this is now slightly lifting. The rest of it is fine.

What type of transfer tape did you use? The ones I’ve used always rips the color or the letters!
I use the Cricut brand right now.
Excuse so with the printable vinyl you can put it in a printer and print any picture you want on it?

What setting do you use to cut out the image? I am struggling to weed the holographic off. Also struggling to transfer the image on to the transfer paper.
Hi! It cut it using the smart paper sticker cardstock setting. I tried it on a different setting first and it didn’t cut all the way through and then a second time with this setting. I hope this helps!

This might be a stupid question, but how does the printable vinyl stay stuck to the cup?
Not a stupid question at all. It’s adhesive vinyl, so it’s sticky. So it’s like vinyl that you can just print on.
How did you print the picture from. Is it on A4 paper or something like that. Can we use that grid sheet more time
I used 8.5x11 printable adhesive vinyl. The transfer paper can be used multiple times.
