This is an engineering masterpiece!!! So many moving parts and simultaneous operations working together in perfect harmony!
If you know anything about engineering you know that it doesnt always run as planned lol
this is what white people can do when not under constant siege and pillage of "DIEversity'
Hey ... anyone knows how they managed to achieve such precision? ... They use laser, powerful computer?
Please calm down. It's standard tunnel boring practice just on a larger scale.

I've heard before that the Swiss do tunnels better than anyone. I'm beginning to understand. Civil engineering doesn't get any more serious or impressive than this. Amazing work.
The Austrians are just as good.
Truth. I've driven through them.
Fact is Swiss companies are mainly building tunnels in Austria and Austrian companies in Switzerland. Thanks to the weird bidding rules in Europe. This tunnel was in large parts built by STRABAG, based in Vienna.
and all TBM´s come from the Herrenknecht AG so who cares, all Construction companys using the same equipment, you can see it in this video
Elon Musk developed all TBM concepts right after he invented rockets and electricity. It's true! Just ask him.

The designing of the different components of the conveyor belt and their smooth interplay is truly impressive. The fact that most of the materials are also created by the same company and can be specially fitted according to the shape of the tunnel is ingenious. This makes the process as fast, safe and efficient as possible.

Man you guys should come and build our roads and bridges here! We really need companies like this.
WOW !!! I knew it was complicated to drill a tunnel, but I had NO IDEA it was like that. To not only drill a gigantic hole thru a mountain, but to seal against ground water and build a rebar reinforced concrete pipe with a secondary ceiling and all those work platforms and jigd and lifts...there was some hifaluting brainstorming going on to come up with that system! Amazing technology. Great admiration! 👏👏👏
I've wanted for so long to see this in person, its amazing how optimized the whole process and the machine is.
This is a whole complete factory of tunnel construction. Amazing!!!!!!!!
The Dutch used one like that 20 years ago. It was called Aurora, the biggest at the time. But theirs was not for tunneling through a mountain, it was for a 5 miles long underwater tunnel for a highspeed train. So instead of rocks it had to contend with muddy soil and a lot of water as it operated some 40 feet beneath sea level.
What was the overall goal with the dutchess train tunnel?? Overall, the only conclusion I can see and come up with here is the gotthard train tunnel cost billions, and 17 yrs of construction, if I'm not mistaken. All that time and effort just to shave off 45min of travel time, and reduce semi truck traffic on highways and bridges, which it had no success in doing so.
@@jasonwade9160 nothing will reduce car traffic except for decreasing a population or making public transport feasible alternatives
@@maxk880 Several Dutch sities have underground tunnels for highways going through cities, and it has greatly reduced traffic. hence, it's one of the reasons why the Dutch are capable of having such a healthy public transport and bicycle road system.
so, reducing population is not the only solution to alleviate those problems
@@Rukes999 it has not "reduced" traffic. The amount of cars on our streets did not go down. It has diverted the traffic, which is a great thing and improves living conditions in these cities greatly but does not solve the problem real at all.
@@maxk880 funny you say depopulation, due to the fact that putting people on train cars and calling the passengers cargo was how the nazis began to depopulate the jews. Now, I'm not accusing any wrong doing on behalf of the gotthard train. It's just that they proudly boast the 10s of thousands of cargo transported on the daily.
I did not understand one thing but all i can say is mad respect for all the workers for their works here

Can't remember where but there's a road and overflow tunnel that is far bigger in diameter ( water overflow ) closed to traffic during flooding

I am so jealous of these big infrastructure projects of yours. We can't seem to build a footbridge or even install a lousy ten mile trolley in the States, and you guys are punching through mountains. Our biggest project is 12billion USD and should have been built decades ago.
