Marathon is fun. I love it. But its the same kind of fun that Dwarf Fortress is. You need to find the fun. Then engage the fun. The realize that you need to let the fun eat you so you can kill the fun from the inside out. Then defeat the fun's friends. Then mount the fun on the wall next to your collection of other funs you've defeated.
I did a playthrough of this game back in 2020 but stopped because of this level, I'm not gonna attempt to do another playthrough, but it's nice that a guide exists for this puzzle, I just wish it was there when I played it.
I played this level for the first time three or so years ago and did not feel like this puzzle is the horrific experience youtubers are making it out to be. I did grow up playing these games and other Marathon mods so maybe some of the design language just made sense to me looking at the heights and having had to engage with the platforming from the rest of the game up to this point.
Yeah, I feel the same. Spending some time in Forge making levels definitely helped. Knowing that the typical stair height is 0.2 WU and understanding how that looks in-game makes a hell of a difference.

I believe that the best way to respond to this is:

I'm hopeless at puzzes in general, and was about to give up on the game here, but thanks to your video, I'm pressing on. Thank you!
You're welcome, glad it helped!

Maybe one day you’ll find the mojo to return and tackle it again.

Never had played Marathon, but this got me intrigued.
I’m kinda glad to hear that 😁

Very helpful, I didn't even realize I could stop em, lol. That might have made earlier puzzles easier too...
