Such a lovely home you have! I'm from Saudi Arabia, but I absolutely love the serenity that Scandinavian interior design holds and the comfort it brings to the eyes. Your home is a perfect representation of that! It is so sweet that you have little bits and pieces that portray other cultures as well. Very beautiful :)
Thank you for letting me in to your house. I love it. Our house here in New Jersey was also burglarized (in 1981) and I lost the jewelry from my mother, mother-in-law and also grandmothers. My heart has not recuperated from that until now. I have not purchased any jewelry since that time.
Hi from England 🇬🇧 I was searching for Swedish country style for some home decorating inspiration and found this video. Your home is beautiful and I'm so glad I found your channel, it's so calming. Thankyou for the wonderful content x
It’s strange how we don’t notice something we once cherished so much yet if it were to disappear or get lost or stolen It would be so upsetting and unsettling because of the sentiment and memory behind them. Your home is lovely so light and cosy and filled with lovely things
I love your house. Especially the windows and the views of the garden from the windows 💖🏡 I am happy I found this house tour video, as I have been admiring your big windows (and windowsills) in your other videos. I really love how open it feels and how it lets the outdoors, be enjoyed inside.
Thank You for sharing your home with us. I found it quite beautiful. We had a much larger home and sold it when our children grew up I miss that larger home sometimes not for the need of more rooms but the space it had even though it was not always used. The hunter gatherer stage is gone and now I find myself giving more and more to charitable centers but somethings those sentimental items I cannot let go of yet. I also knit and have also downsized the amount of yarn and projects I attempt because I was just buying yarn and downloading patterns and not knitting enough ! Thanks again.
I very much enjoyed your peaceful tour of your home. Very interested in the notion of getting rid of stuff in the second half of your life. I downsized from a threebed house with my partner, to a one bed flat on my own. I have gotten rid of alot of things, but not nearly enough. I am now 56 and need to re-evaluate what is important. Things are not important in reality. My dog is the most important thing in my life :)
An easy way to move big furniture is by tipping it to position old blankets or carpet underneath then sliding on floor or even stairs to change the location, this can be done on carpet, wood flooring is seamless and quickly done, you can even use folded cardboard boxes, they are heavy duty and available in most homes.
Thank you so much for showing us your beautiful cottage home! Everything about it made me happy! I too am drawn to older items and things that aren’t necessarily practical ! ❤
Thank you for showing your lovely home. I agree we accumulate so much over the years without even realizing it until it overwhelms. Now we go through and keep the things that are most meaningful.
I so appreciate your aesthetic. Thank you for sharing your living space with us. I too appreciate old furniture and I have momentos I would never get rid of or change in any way. Peace, simplicity, memories and history. Beautiful.
I never look at UA-cam videos first thing in the morning. I reserve that time for reading and writing. However, I couldn't resist the temptation of this video. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your lovely home and hearing your reflections on life, accumulation, and decluttering.
I recently discovered your channel via your knitting videos and your calm manner encouraged me to view more of yours. Thank you for inviting us into your home. So much of what you say resonates: I’m 54 and definitely actively removing ‘stuff’ that is, or has indeed become, meaningless. What I retain has a strong memory of a connected experience or beloved person. I’ve also taken to occasionally photographing objects that I’m getting rid of which I worry I might regret. Once or twice I’ve come across the photos and thought ‘Ahh’ but also I felt fine with the objects’ absence and enjoyed the feeling that someone else is appreciating them more than me. Your home is beautiful though different from my own insofar as I need more colour in my life during gloomy Irish months! Thanks once again. I shall be watching more… 😊
I love all the references to the things in your home which were your mom's. I'm so sorry you mom's jewelry was stolen. So sad... How wonderful that you visited and enjoyed the Serengeti! I've been to Tanzania many times and it's probably the most magical place on earth, IMO! I've LOVED watching your home tour and seeing your knitting progress. Thanks for sharing!
I think you have made this house into a beautiful home. I like the light and airy feeling. And the cyrstals that are about your home are a wonderful touch. Thanks for sharing. Hello from Chicago, IL
I love seeing your home. I do agree with you, as I am definitely in the second part of life. Getting rid of “stuff” is my mission. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the welcome & the tour of your house home. I too love old furniture & live in a house that is 150 years old where my great grandparents lived & I love the feel of my ancestors. Have got a few nice ideas from you.
That was a very pleasant and calming tour! 😊 I was wowed and delighted by your dining room/sitting area against the backyard windows! Everything looked so perfect and straightforward! No knickknacks, no crazy designs, no clutter! I loved your living room as well, especially the oval table! By the way, I thought there was something different about you but I couldn't figure what it was until you mentioned your LASIK surgery! Actually, you look younger and much more relaxed! Now, I'm middle aged myself and I'm at that stage where I'm just keeping the basics and either giving stuff away or getting rid of it! Life gets easier with less stuff! So, I understand your point perfectly well! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Thank you for your kindness and sharing your home with us all. I love your home. When you mention about throwing that heavy cabinet out I almost fell off my chair. lol. That’s a beautiful piece. Again thank you.
It’s nice you honour your mum especially with the candle sticks and the chair it’s nice to have feelings the little birds too I love royal Copenhagen China plates in blue and white bit expensive though love from Scotland x
You have created a beautiful home. So many windows and light furniture! I completely agree about focusing on reducing things instead of continuing to acquire more. Space is the key to a peaceful home.
The tour of your home is so refreshing and full of light. It was a wonderful journey to watch. Adding: I love your references to seaside hotels. I’ve been watching the series here in the US on PBS.
Thank you for sharing your charming cottage life. I love the all white and neutral scheme. The colorful, interesting items you added really stand out against the all white color. Love your deck and garden. Bigger doesn't always mean better.
Hi. Just to sayy thank you. For sharing your home with us. I'm so sorry to hear about the lost of your mothers jewellery & hope one day they come back to you. Thank you again P
Hi there, thanks so much. You know, I think there’s a lesson in learning to let go; I still think of my mother almost daily, so the memories will always be there ❤️
I love how warm and welcoming your home is and I love the white, with pops of color in the paintings. What a shame that Ikea stopped carrying the Ektorp sofa and Jennylund chairs. The new version is too large and doesn't seem as comfortable.
Thank you for this little tour. I just stumbled upon your channel and was curious about your ideas on owning things, i too am at a similar stage here on the prairies in Canada. I remember when i was young and sentimental, tinkering with my mothers tea cups. As i admired them my mom said to me “please, take anything you want. “ I have become my mother, and caught myself saying those words to my son when he recently visited for a few days. There are some things, mostly small trinkets that will be hard to say goodbye to, but slowly i am making my rooms more empty. I like the lack of confusion and peacefulness in a spare room. Maybe because truly my best memories are in my head. As well something i noticed that you do and i find myself doing is reassigning old pieces of furniture we have used for decades, to different tasks. A coat of paint and some new knobs and a bit of shuffling…no need for matching bedroom suites or fancy one purpose pieces. I love your ideas. Thank you for sharing.
This popped up in my youtube to! No knitting but your home is totally lovely. Thank you so much for allowing me to come into your home. My home to has a front door, which mainly guests use and a back door. I love your kitty too. I have 3 dogs, keeping me busy.
Such a lovely home! So sorry to hear about your mother’s jewelry. The same thing happened to me. But it was my grandmother’s jewelry. It can never be replaced - it hurts to this day. It was stolden about 15 years ago. It was valuable but it was the fact that is sentimental to me,
You have a beautiful house ❤! I love it. I love all your views from your windows. And all your old furniture. I understand when you say it's difficult to get rid of your Mother's things. It's difficult for me too. Enjoy your beautiful home. ❤
My home is filled with things I don't 100% love, but to change them increases our consumption and carbon footprint and I have learned to embrace them...I like them after all. Plus, I guess I am lazy about painting/reupholstery
I know this video was done a while back but I just saw it and it warmed my heart so much! You are a gracious host and I enjoyed the tour very much. Like you I don’t care to keep anything of value although I have a few sentimental pieces of furniture. But those can’t easily be sold in a pawn shop so I guess they’re safe. :) Loved your bathroom tile and the lovely light throughout your home (so important for mental health!) After all the remodeling we’ve done, the only regret I had is not doing black & white bathroom tile.
I live in the USA, I just watched your video and am now subscribed. Your style is EXACTLY what I like, lots of white, painted furniture and antiques. So, I thought I would watch it. It is nice to see that the style I love is actually common in Europe as well. BTW, the wallpaper in your office is gorgeous, it is beautiful and speaks to me as a calming color and space. I am most likely close to your age as well, but my design choices have stayed pretty much the same since the 90's.
Thank you for being so open. I love to see that you choose your things with your heart. Thats how I do it. Now you feel like a friend, so if you ever come to Holland you're welcome in my messy house!😅 🤣
Dear Helle Ma'm, You are such a Wonderful Soul🌺 It feels through your Eyes, your Voice, & How you narrate the Blog, It's just Speechless !! Really Enjoy your Blogs, Best Wishes & Love from Punjab (India) ❤❤
Hello from Mexico! First time visiting your channel. I really enjoyed your video and I also think the same as you, the older I get, the more things I let go and the least I buy. I think I like a minimalistic style for me.
What a beautiful home you have! So much of what you say resonates with me - collecting in the first part of life, decluttering in the second - I’m hopeless at de-cluttering but I know I need to - I want to live my life uncluttered. Your burglary, it’s heartbreaking when you’re burgled, I lost all my jewellery when we were, a mix of gifts from my husband over the years, my mothering-in-laws few bits of jewellery that were passed to me on her passing, including a beautiful art deco jewellery box, and all the jewellery I had made while learning silver smithing. This was 5 years ago, I’m still angry and heart broken in equal measure. We didn’t go to town replacing the jewellery I’d lost, our insurance didn’t cover the sum total either, like you we felt there was no point having expensive items for someone else to take. We had an alarm system which of course they activated, but it didn’t deter them, we were even attached to the police but they couldn’t get there fast enough in the rush hour traffic. Thank you for sharing your home and thoughts.
Hi Helle! You have such a beautiful home. Very cozy. I'm also learning to let things go. However, I cannot stop collecting handmade quilts. It's the first thing I keep searching for at antique shops. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I hope to visit Denmark one day. Greetings from Southern California! 😊
Hi Gabrielle, thanks so much for your comment - extra special when it hails from Southern California, where I lived once. I love handmade quilts, too, especially some of those traditional American patterns, so I completely understand your ‘need’ to search for them. Hope you get to visit Denmark some day 🥰
Such a lovely & charming home! Thanks for sharing. I find out about you because of the knitting, but I love all the content. So jealous of your bookshelves ❤
What a beautiful, stunning home!!! It's very generous of you to show us! I love the Belfast sink in the kitchen, I've never seen a double one like that. I'd also love to have a cup of tea and a good look at all your books :))
Such a beautiful house.. thank you for the tour! …you are very lucky 💕 I live in the Cotswolds and that too is a beautiful part of the world. I feel lucky to live here. 🥰
Love your style and all the painted white pieces. Airy and fresh ! A had a roommate in my 20 s who was 100 percent swedish. Debs style is so similar ! This must be in your genes. Lol. I need to purge so many cherished items that have crowded me. You r correct ! The older I get ( less makes me feel less confused)
Hello from San Diego! I've been watching your knitting videos so it is nice to see the rest of your lovely home. Your space feels so calming! I'm also super surprised to see your HS diploma as my teenager is going to a PUSD school and my neighbor's teen goes to your alma mater!
What a serene home, decorated with beloved objects inherited, curated, and selected during travels! I love every painting on the walls and I'm glad you mentioned the one painted on driftwood and the one painted by your daughter. What are the others?
Beautiful house! We are soon to move to a new house in Sweden and I have got a lot of inspiration from your house😊 I see you have a wonderful collection of books. Would you consider doing a bookshelf tour?🙂
All white can be so incredibly lovely - yours is! Thank you for the welcome into your home! Question: Did you knit the sweater you're wearing? Would you share the pattern?
Ayer he descubierto tu canal y no puedo dejar de mirar tus videos! Tu hogar es bello y calmo, y muy inspirador. Me disculpo por escribirte en español, pero no soy muy buena para hacerlo en inglés o francés, aunque los entiendo. Te mando un afectuoso saludo desde Argentina 😊
@@danishmusings lol.. yeah I know how it feels.. by the I’m really in love with your videos. The weather and the way you are showing the things around it’s just amazing. I wish I could follow you on Instagram or twitter to see regular updates.
@@mrasquaretech I’m not very active on IG and I’m not on Twitter, so there aren’t more updates to be had at this stage, I’m afraid. But I appreciate the thought 😌
Tusind tak fordi du deler din glæde ved dit skønne hus, tak fordi du er så personlig og den måde, du laver videoerne på er noget, der giver mig energi og du er meget berigende at følge 🩷🌸☀️
Just discovered your channel and saw this beautiful video! I’ve always loved the Scandinavian way of decorating! But I’m not sure if it’s a translation thing or if you actually mean when you say you are going to throw out things you’ve collected? I gasped when you said you will throw out that beautiful piece of furniture the one that takes four men to move! Or the children’s books you talked about throwing out 😮 Do you really mean throw out in the trash or do you donate these perfectly good items?
Well, by ‘throwing them out’ I simply mean ‘getting rid of them’, that is removin them from my house. Where they end up then depends on their condition and other things. I’ve donated lots of books to little street libraries, and other things we’ve gotten rid of by giving them to somebody or to a charity shop. So here, I was simply talking about perhaps not having it any longer, not about what would happen to it. We still have it though ☺️
Pretty house. I like all the white. Also that colorful painting above the couch on the second floor. With a dirty dog and black cats, I couldn't have all that white.
Lovely home..Nice to have heirloom pieces. Sometimes you don't miss pieces until they are no longer there..Perhaps you could leave your heavy cabinet for the new house owner to love when you leave your home? Thank you for sharing..
You have a beautiful beautiful home ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Its literally my dream home❤❤❤❤ thank you for sharing this lovely video❤❤❤❤❤❤❤sending warmth and good wishes from India 😊❤
Beautiful *Video ❤️ I think the pandemic and economic crisis have taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean financial security. I really appreciate the transparency and giving people a fighting chance during these troubling times.
I totally agree with you. I see a lot of young and old making mistakes that I don't think they should. I believe everyone should have an investment plan that improves their financial stability. The investment can be your retirement plan or your future plan, whatever you want, but the most important thing is that you have an investment plan that pays off.
How much is the cost of this home with land prices, and is it in Village or town, I want to know because I also want to buy house in Denmark, but in future because now I am 18 🙂
Well, it’s pretty expensive. I live at the edge of a city. My suggestion would be to apply yourself to something that you enjoy and that you can both become good at and earn money from, not to blindly chase success 🤗
You elevate the image of the older woman with grace and a mature beauty. We need more role models like you.
Thank you for letting me in to your house. I love it. Our house here in New Jersey was also burglarized (in 1981) and I lost the jewelry from my mother, mother-in-law and also grandmothers. My heart has not recuperated from that until now. I have not purchased any jewelry since that time.

Lovely house. Glorious views from your windows. The white furniture looks perfect with the green backdrop. Thank you for opening it to us.

😍🌺🙏🏻
Thank you só much for sharing, It’s really lovely, like your knittings. Greats from Brazil.

Thank you for your kind words 🙏🏻
Wished they built houses like this in uk i like the sitting area upstairs
Don’t they? It’s not necessarily typical here either, but I drew up the house plan myself 😌
Your home is amazing. The snow. Your knitting lucky lady I love it
What a beautiful, stunning home!!! It's very generous of you to show us! I love the Belfast sink in the kitchen, I've never seen a double one like that. I'd also love to have a cup of tea and a good look at all your books :))
😻😅
I love your cozy house thank you for showing it,
Such a beautiful house.. thank you for the tour! …you are very lucky 💕 I live in the Cotswolds and that too is a beautiful part of the world. I feel lucky to live here. 🥰
Oh my - the Cotswolds! I adore that part of the UK and have been there several times. All the best to you 💚🌷

Ps. Don’t remove the wall paper !!! Brings joy!
🙏🏻❤️🥰
Hello from San Diego! I've been watching your knitting videos so it is nice to see the rest of your lovely home. Your space feels so calming! I'm also super surprised to see your HS diploma as my teenager is going to a PUSD school and my neighbor's teen goes to your alma mater!
Wow, what are the odds? 😍🤓 That is amazing! Much love to you in San Diego, and thanks for watching ❤️
Beautiful house and garden.Thank you for sharing
I just found your channel! I’m in love 🥰 Your home is absolutely dreamy…
Ah, thank you so much 🌸 And welcome to the channel ☺️
Thank you. I have always liked the beautiful Scandinavian decor. Greetings from 🇦🇺
What a serene home, decorated with beloved objects inherited, curated, and selected during travels! I love every painting on the walls and I'm glad you mentioned the one painted on driftwood and the one painted by your daughter. What are the others?
Thank you so much, hm, the ones I think you mean are by a now deceased Danish artist 🥰
Lovely home, comfortable, yet with plenty of outdoor spaces.
Beautiful home. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Unfortunately I didn’t knit that one but have actually been on the look-out for something similar. Will keep you posted 🌸
Ayer he descubierto tu canal y no puedo dejar de mirar tus videos! Tu hogar es bello y calmo, y muy inspirador. Me disculpo por escribirte en español, pero no soy muy buena para hacerlo en inglés o francés, aunque los entiendo. Te mando un afectuoso saludo desde Argentina 😊
No problem - I used the translate function. Very happy with your kind comment from Argentina - I want to visit your country some day 💖
I’m loving your videos. I like the vibe.
Thank you so much. I imagine it’s because you vibe at the same ‘frequency’ ☺️
@@danishmusings Got it. What’s your IG id? I would like to follow you anyways.
@@mrasquaretech I’ll put it in the description box with the next video 🤓
What a charming house!. (So sorry about your Mum's jewellery). Best wishes from Australia x
Moc hezké a inspirativní. Určitě se vám v krásném domě dobře bydlí 👍🌞
Yes, I do agree on many of your Danish musings!!
That’s great to hear, thanks ❤️
Beautiful home and I love the music!
Lovely home..Nice to have heirloom pieces. Sometimes you don't miss pieces until they are no longer there..Perhaps you could leave your heavy cabinet for the new house owner to love when you leave your home? Thank you for sharing..
we use the backdoor too, I live in germany by the way^^ its kinda the same here:)
And your house looks so cozy!!
Ah, hello ‘neighbour’ and thank you 👋😍
9:23- I love children's books- don't u dare throw them out.
And that treasure wall black showcase is a great idea

Very Beautiful and warm house. I like it.
1768???!!!!! Your trunk is older than my country! ❤ it’s gorgeous
