Just got into boots about 2 years ago. I must agree the AE Higgens Mill are awesome. Mine are in natural chromexcel leather. I love them. I also own AE Alpine cap-toe with the Vibram arctic rip rubber sole. Like said in the video the sole is amazing and in the snow or ice. Also own AE Normandy, J&M Copeland Chukka and a few Cole-Haan chukkas. Looking for a Thursday boot next or maybe an AE Dalton.

@@BootSpy I was going to say the same... you're ready for a pair of Tricker's! Not cheap but they do sales a couple of times a year, and they have an outlet website. Problem is getting the right size which could prove expensive from the US as they're UK made.

I have a pair of Whites packers and Drew’s linecutters. I work in them on my place in the mountains so I use them more for work than fashion but I highly recommend each. The build quality far surpasses most fashion brands (GS, AE, Red Wing, ...). You have to get used to the weight and the high arc and the stiffness, but they are a world of difference. I had to repair my septic line this past summer and just used some AEs as I didn’t mind them getting mucked up with sludge. But for all other work, the PNW boots are my boots. I have some old Danner bull runs as well that I work in, but they are definitely a less quality boot.

I agree that the Beckett Simonon Douglas Jodhpur is a great boot. I've used my pair in the bordeaux colorway as a dressy daily since my senior year of high school and they're still the most comfortable piece of footwear I own. They're actually in need of a resole because of how much I've worn them and not getting toe savers. Plus I don't want to dig into the heel stack. But even compared to my Jim Green Vellies, which are fantastic for people with wider feet, and my new Velasca Ost loafers and Adidas Stan Smiths, they still make me smile the most when I put them on and take them off. Though Taft's jodhpurs in that salt suede have been enticing me for years now.

Apples and oranges. Not just the price either. The iron ranger is made to be a true work boot. It can take a beating. The captain prioritizes the style and look. It’s made for people who aren’t planning to hike around or do manual labor in it. It’s meant to be worn to the office and out on the town or on a date. I personally don’t like the silhouette of the Iron ranger. The cap toe provides a lot of protection for your feet but it looks bulbous and kind of goofy to me. Again, if your priority is functionality then this doesn’t matter too much. I wouldn’t wear the iron ranger to meet with an important client at work. I wouldn’t wear the captain on a serious hike. Apples and oranges.

@@joelman1989 I don't disagree with the apples and oranges comment, regarding the IR and Captain. But, his video is a ranking of many different style boots. I wear my IRs more often than my Thursday Captains...so, for me, I'd rank them higher. That's all.

Great collection of boots, I would love to see a review of the olive suede Thursday boots in the Captain range. I’ve been wearing a pair of Harley Davidson Karl boots for 4 years now, apart from a few resoles I’ve not had any problems with them apart from the break in period.

I did not have a good experience with Thursday Boots. I purchased a pair of Captains in April of 2022. There was a large gouge in the right leather heel block and a gouge in the right tongue, caused by a sharp edge on one of the speed hooks. After a couple emails to Thursday Boots, including pics, I returned the original boots and was sent out a replacement pair of Captains. The tongue on the right boot was misaligned, and not centered in the boot. The tongue rolled off of my instep when I tried them on. After several emails and pics were sent, I requested a return label and refund. I was informed that Thursday Boots doesn’t normally issue refunds, only exchanges. That’s not what their return policy states. I was also told a cobbler could repair the issue. There’s no reason a brand new pair of boots should require repairs. I was finally offered a refund. I am posting this because Thursday Boots has not posted my negative experience. They have not posted any negative reviews since 2021. I’ve watched numerous videos, praising Thursday Boots quality. It was not my experience.

I get more compliments on my Allen Edmonds Daltons than I ever expected I would. Got them second hand, perfect shape. Also I'd have to say that my Grenson Freds are awesome and beautiful. I want to 'ruin' them in weather, but unfortunately fortunately our southern California weather won't oblige! They are, sadly, not easily come by new anymore it seems.
That said, my go to's are Red Wing Iron Rangers, Beckmans, and Moc Toes.

I just got the Taft Jack Eden (for my wedding) and the Nisolo Javier, which both sit squarely at the bottom of your ranking, haha. I am curious why the Nisolos are so low on your list. It seems like you have mostly positive things to say about them--including in your written review of them (which was super helpful in my purchasing of them because there isn't much info out there on Nisolo products). Both of those boots are awesome-- the Jack Eden is low because I've barely had a chance to wear them and I just choose more rugged boots more often, I suppose. But they're great and I really like them. The Nisolo is another great boot--I like the leather a lot and it's quite comfortable. There was a period of time where it was my go-to boot walking to work. But given that I buy so many new boots as part of this channel, I found that for whatever reason, i just don't wear them as often as my Thursday and Ace Marks chelseas. It's not that they're bad shoes at all, but for whatever reason, I just don't reach for them as often (I can't even tell you why haha.. it just is what it is)

@@BootSpy I love the Blacksmith in the Briar Oil Slick leather, too. It is easy to care for. I like the Wolverine boot oil and boot grease.
Again, I recommend those Pedag “Royal” leather insoles. They are super thin. They add comfort without changing the fit.

My brother did a wilderness course in Wyoming for a month and didnt have any boots, so I gave him the vasques. They held up at least for 100 miles of wilderness hiking, but I haven't seen them since. I assume they're still holding up
