I forgot to mention, I have seen a high pressure fuel sensor in the fuel rail fail without setting a fault. That would be my next thing to replace in a situation like this, before the low pressure module or low pressure pump. Eventually I will get out my scan tool and show the values but like I said this issue is very sporadic and everything is reading correctly most of the time. Please subscribe for more and if I have to visit or tear down this engine in the future.

What pressure should we see at fuel rail or will this prove hpfp is faulty? Cheers

Had the 2188 code, took to a mechanic. After their repair, plus some preventive maintenance (3grand) the code popped back up after 50 miles.
    Searched UA-cam. Found your channel.
You made it look so easy, my first DIY car repair was this exact one.
Did an engineer flush too, since fuel was allll over inside.
    150 miles in, no code.
    I guess I found a hobby now.
    You’re the best.

Dude, I own a 2012 GTI and recently had a missfire. I did everything, replace the coils, replace the spark plugs and replaced the PCV valve. Your videos gave me the courage to keep digging, i removed the intake manifold and started to clean the carbon build up and found a loose intake valve. Removed the valve cover "cradle" and found a broken spring. Replaced it without pulling the head, retimed everything and put everything back together. Car runs like new, i didnt replace or update the timing chain due to budget but it its at -2.35 as i checked with my OBD reader so i think im ok there but will keep an eye on it. Keep up the good work brother, and god bless you and your family.

I just did a HPFP per your video a couple months ago.. it was a flawless install, I ran VCDS to prime it before starting the car.. I changed out the pump because I saw it leaking I assumed a bad seal .. anyway you can always pinch off the LO fuel line so that line doesn’t leak or lose it’s prime.. probably a good idea to cycle the door open/close a few times.. opening the door cycles the tank fuel pump.. excellent video Naptown 👍🏻

Thanks for this. I was doing this on my 2013 Allroad and the nut on the bottom was not aligned well at all. I struggled for hours and was getting very tired and desperate. After looking online for additional help I found this video and after hearing you say "you may need to add some leverage if its not aligned properly" i started trying to push down the pipe leading to the nut to give it more room to fit the pump.
I had to eventually carefully climb into the engine bay with just socks on, put some towel/cloth on top of the metal pipe and press down on the pipe with my big toe/foot while trying to screw it on and FINALLY got it to screw on.
I may have figured it out eventually but it may have taken many more hours and some sleep but I was getting to the point where I was thinking I'd have to get it towed! Thanks again :).

Currently my vehicle 2013 Audi A4 stuck at work. Brand new oil, filter, brand brand, new OEM coil packs brand, new spark plugs, clean the mass airflow sensor it already has updated intake and exhaust. Only throwing P300 or 301 code. Cylinder one misfire. Was running absolutely perfect on E85 until I hit the gas on the highway… And then it just started sputtering installing out and now when I start it up… it stutters… EPC. Along with the code. I’m thinking it’s a high-pressure fuel pump.
    What do you think???

You should open your fuel cap to let the pressure out of the tank before disconnecting fuel hoses or fuel can pour out the hose till the pressure stops.
You know this but its good advice for viewer's.

It’s possible to have a fuel smell, if you have a picky customer that immediately takes the car back to their garage and closes the door it’s maybe a good idea to be careful with the fuel spill. Personally I didn’t ever mess with it, if I was worried about it I would rather spray the engine down when I was finished but I’ve also not seen enough fuel come out of the lines to ever worry about it on these cars. People doing work at shops for paying customers definitely need to be more careful than me working in my backyard thanks for the awareness and and future input is appreciated

Could you make a video of how to check manually if your high pressure fuel pump is working correctly I have a misfire and someone before I change spark plug the coil was told the injectors were fine did a compression test that was fine I get a misfire on cold starts until the car warms up and then it runs fine I only get a random misfire code p0300 end p0304 any suggestions I tried to smoke test or propane test I figured I should try the high pressure fuel pump. BTW it's a 2018 Audi Q3 with 70,000 mi on it bought it brand new tried bringing it to Audi I was very disappointed with them they tried charging me $1,100 just to change the oil separator I saw your video and replaced it myself it only cost me $114 from FCP Euro for the original Volkswagen Audi part

Our 2013 Q5 threw these codes: P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance, P2293 Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance,
P3073 Fuel pump Electrical error in circuit (10063), P310B Low Fuel Pressure regulation Fuel pressure outside specification (2636), P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low (2838). I like to specify no name parts vs aftermarket parts and then aftermarket parts need to come from a reputable source. I’ve purchased way too many “name brand” counterfeit parts from knock off China land. Oem parts are typically redesigned and updated to the best standards they know how and the aftermarket doesn’t have the proprietary investments and information not to say they can’t come up with something better but typically it’s just a knock off of oem

Question: Car is a 2012 Audi A5 Quattro, 2.0T TFSI with 129K miles. Do you think if a code P2188 for running rich, assuming the HPFP is leaking fuel into the oil, could cause a malfunction in the oil pressure sensors (brown & blue) and the hi-low oil pressure switch? I’ve replaced both sensors, the switch, the oil pump, and still getting intermittent low oil pressure warnings, which appear to be false, as the oil pressure has been checked, and is perfect. I’ve also purchase a higher end OBDII, reset all the codes, and the car ran error free for almost 2 weeks. I’ve ordered and new HPFP and will do an oil change as soon as the HPFP is replaced. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

So I replaced the HPFP and it still had trouble starting but did start and was smoking like crazy and smelled like it was running really rich. So I looked up and they said it could be the fuel pressure sensor. So I unplugged the sensor and the car started but was still running the same way struggling idling and I could tell hardly any power.
