I'm a year late with commenting, but I put a passive pick up in the same uke, changed the strings to Worth browns, low G and the difference is amazing, very warm sounding compared to the original strings!
Great fun review 😁. Love the bamboo ukuleles so much I bought a similar tenor cutaway bamboo uke which I love. Glad you mentioned the problem you had with the first one as it gives the review so much credibility. Must have a trip to the Southern ukulele store as I have heard so much good about it. 👋
TBH, the sound of a bamboo uke took some getting used to; to my ear, it initally sounded "twangy". But over time, I've come to appreciate the instrument's brighness... Live and learn, I guess. (P.S. You two are a stitch! Your banter adds so much to these informational videos!) Lucky you've both got each other to bounce off of... And I'm lucky that I Got Uke, Babe!
We agree with you, as we weren't sure about it to start with, but now love it! They're both definitely peas in a pod - the only thing is it doesn't stop when the cameras turn off - they're constantly at it! - BB
So… judging from the bird-like arm waving, blindness miming and general motion I’m thinking that the first song must be by Poor Kestrel Manoeuvres in the Dark.
I have one of these in a baritone. It's quite nice and very well made.
Good luck! Make sure you're subscribed and join us live on 31st March when we draw the winner!

Better late than never! Yeah, even just new strings makes a world of difference!

They are such good value for solid instrument!
