    You hit the nail on the head there, watching this show feels like doing something good for yourself, makes you think, teaches you something and makes you laugh, plus there always seems to be a good feeling among the panellists that you kind of absorb. Thanks for doing these, I've seen them not long ago, but fun to watch again with you.

    Smôrgåsbord is indeed Swedish. We have the same (more or less) in Denmark but it's called frokostbord. Frokost in Danish means lunch but the exact same sounding word in Swedish frukost means breakfast.
    Other classic Danish/Swedish word confusions are: morgenbrød meaning breakfast rolls in Danish and morning wood in Swedish, rolig meaning calm or slow in Danish and meaning funny in Swedish, or grine meaning to laugh in Danish but to cry in Swedish.
    Anyway, on to watch the reaction.

Anyone who knows the stories knows Sherlock didn'd die, and defeated Moriarty, but took the opportunity to Fake his death and took 3 years to dismantle the rest of Moriarty's organisation. I can relate to most communication is non verbal. I had a girlfriend for about 8 months. She spoke no English, I spoke no Thai. We had no trouble communicating (after the 1st week. Kind of a steep learning curve) . Just tiny facial movements and simple hand gestures was all that was needed. We didn't have any issues regarding understanding. Quite often we would speak to each other but it was more how we spoke rather that what was spoke. If that makes sense.

    Oh, BTW. Sandi's Tattoo is in a norse (I think) language that is called something I can't remember (it begins with an 'F'). It's the same language as the BlueTooth symbol on your phone, named after a king who ate a lot of blue berries... But Sandi's tattoo represent 3 letters. It's the first initial of all her 3 Son's names.

      Technically the language is Norse, and the Futhark (named after its first six letters) is the alphabet it’s written in. There are a couple of different iterations, notably the Elder and younger Futhark, and other versions were used for the Germanic and Anglo-Saxon languages of the time.

    I'll also add to my other comment. Over here in the UK nearly all pre-made sandwiches no matter if you buy it from a service station, a bakery, a large supermarket/grocery store, etc have all got mayonaise in them. Even sandwiches that shouldn't. Bacon and egg sandwich has mayo in it, it's chopped bacon with a scrambled egg and mayo mix. Why? Chicken and stuffing? Mayo.. Cheese and ham? Mayo. I hate mayo. And according to survey done a few back by one of the largest high street bakers, Greggs, just a little over 60% of the people asked didn't want mayo on their sandwiches. Which begs the question of why do they keep putting it in? lol. The smartest thing to do would not put mayo on the sandwich but instead sell them with a little sachet of Mayo.

    As you say at the end of the video there will be X, Y, and Z episodes. And that was pure genius on the part of the creator. "We'll do a season on every letter. We have a great premise the BBC has approved"..
    So right there if the 'A' series took off with good ratings there was bound to be a 'B' series.
    They had just guaranteed a 26 series run... And as we're now on 'S' there is no chance it will not go to 'Z'.

    Didn't see answer to McDonalds fries. Ya, you are old enough. The odd bit of the story is that McDonalds started using vegetable oil to cook their fries around 1990 in the restaurants; however, the fries were pre-fried with beef tallow at the processing plants. It was around 2001 that McDonalds made this clear and issued apologies. This was problematic since the fries hand been distributed to countries/regions where beef fat is not consumed for dietary and religious reasons. They 'hopefully' stopped using beef fat in 2001/2002.

    When Steven Fry was thinking about leaving the show, he decided to stick around a little longer than he originally planned to until the end of season 'M', figuring that was half way through the alphabet. As much as I enjoy Alan, I feel like they should have retired Alan at the same time. Have Sandy as "the new Steven' and someone else as 'the new Alan' for another half the alphabet and change it again. Think like Dr Who where everyone expects there to be a new doctor every few years and each era has it's own impact on the style while keeping the show as a whole relatively consistent. That way, after Season Z you have 'A new Sandy' and 'a new person-who-replaced-Alan' and go back to season A.

    • @HellaGust
      @HellaGust 2 роки тому

      I dunno. I feel like if they're gonna replace people it might work better to have them overlap. So if Alan decides to leave in a few seasons Sandi stays on a while longer etc. Leaving one familiar face as you get accustomed to the new one. Less of a harsh divide between old and new and more of a continuous process of change.
      But I'd also be happy to see Alan stay all the way to Z. It somehow feels right that *he* is the actual anchor of the show.
