We went Star class on Odyssey of the Seas via a room upgrade! We bid the minimum at $320 per person (2 people) and got the upgrade!! The original room was free from the casino! So the Grand Loft Suite with a Genie only cost us $640!! We hit the JACKPOT!! Our Genie and all the free stuff made this 8 day cruise the trip of a lifetime!
@Rico S Easy! Gamble in casino on prior cruise …got an offer for a free room…then got an offer to upgrade!! I hit the jackpot when we got selected for the upgrade!!!!
The keys how much do gamble to get the offer to say they need u back , second win session or losing session it important to understand what the are looking for as far we want u back? Thanks for info
@@richritchie5434 I set aside about $1,500 to gamble with per cruise and get offers for free rooms. The upgrade offer was separate and after I had already booked the free room.
I’ll give you a short summary of what it’s like to have a Genie. Ours met us at the health check station and immediately took us on board, bypassing the long line of passengers working their way to the gang plank. Once on board the next hurdle was getting to our deck (17) via the crowded elevators. The Genie summoned an empty elevator within seconds and once we stepped in before other passengers could enter. Then, straight to deck 17. She took us to the star loft suite and gave us a full tour of the place. Finally she went over our dining and entertainment itinerary she developed). So far so good. Then because the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen was only a few steps away, she walked us down and introduced us to the staff. This came in handy later when we asked for a drink or whatever. Later on we went to dinner and she was waiting there to escort us to our table. This became a theme. Whatever was on the itinerary she would escort us to our seats. At first we were uncomfortable with this as I just retired from a 40 year career in tech. I cut my own grass, fix the house when things go wrong so… average joe. By the third day though I realized we are her job and she truly wants to make everything the best it can be. You get to know them very well. I felt like she was part of the family by then. After that my discomfort was gone. She was not at our elbow all the time but would check in from time to time by phone or if you were in a lounge or bar, she’d stop by to say hi (and talked to the bar manager). When we disembarked, our she met us at the time we wanted to leave. Again, the elevator trick straight down to the gangway deck and a shortcut through the I-95 and we were on the gangplank. Our luggage was waiting the second we got to the terminal with a bell boy. Our Genie walked with us all the way to customs and bypassed the lines again. Said goodbye and we left feeling a bit sad. Time from walking out of our suite door through customs was less than 10 minutes. There’s more to working with our Genie but this is a taste of what it was like. A special shoutout to the housekeeper staff. On a whole new level as well. Hope this helps.
My family did 2 bedroom Aqua Suite in 2019 on Harmony and it was amazing! We had an excellent genie, Leticia! It was amazing to celebrate with my three grandsons (ages 14, 12, and 1 1/2 years old). I will always treasure that cruise because tragically we lost our youngest grandson in an accident a year later and I am so grateful I had that quality time with him then.
Lezlee I am so sorry for your loss and I am SO glad you had the opportunity to take your grandchildren on a cruise so you could make some sweet and wonderful memories with them!❤
My wife and I had a Royal Suite (Star Class) on the Oasis of the Sea. Our Royal Genie was amazing. There were so many extra benefits. I really didn't take full advantage of it. We were definitely treated like royalty everywhere on the ship. People look at us like: "Why are they getting so many special treatments?" I got the Star Class as a Master level casino royal player. I guess they were trying to give me some perks for all the dollars I lost at the baccarat tables.

lol you so funny, why you get so many special treatments?
I love star class! If it's an actual vacation and not a I'm working on this trip vacation I want it to be star class! I literally got a second job to be able to cruise like that more often. I know that nuts but hey, I fell in love with it.
This is an excellent summation of the Star Class. We did a Star Class in a two bedroom suite in 2019 aboard the Allure of the Seas. It was the most unbelievable experience. Our Genie, Alan, made sure that we had everything and never had to ask for anything. My grandsons mentioned that they liked sushi. We got back from the pool one afternoon to find a huge array of every kind of sushi you could think of. It was nonstop perfection all day, every day. Worth every cent.
This is such valuable content. I've never seen your channel before, nor have I ever watched cruise videos on UA-cam. So glad UA-cam suggested it. I'm going to be looking into a trip for me and my family now.
I wouldn’t know what to ask for! I’m so used to doing everything without asking for help, I would have a hard time getting over the feeling of “asking too much”. Matt-maybe you could interview some genies to find out some common requests that are easy for them and maybe what is “over the top”. It’s my dream to sail in star class-mainly because I want the room with the piano so I can play piano all week without having to do dishes or clean!
This is SUCH a great idea for a video! I feel like I wouldn't get the total experience because I'd be too self-conscious about being "that guy/lady" when I asked for things, lol
My family of three has done Star Class (Sky Loft) on our last 3 cruises. Once you do Star Class there is no going back to just being a regular cabin cruiser! So many perks you feel like Royalty for a week. On the Oasis class ships you can live the entire week on deck 17 (Lofts). Enjoy your suite / balcony and just walk down the private hall throughout the day to the Coastal Kitchen for unlimited drinks / food. No need to ever have to use the jam packed buffet or dining rooms. Note: The quality / experience of the Genie’s service does vary.
I was able to take a glimpse of this suite during the Maiden Voyrage on Oasis Of The Seas back in 2011. It's super crazy how cozy the room was. Definitely worth it if a family can afford it.
Because of cancellations & the 125% fare credits and whatnot, I was able to book 2 Star class 2 bedroom Aquatheatre Suites, one in April on Allure, and one in Sept. on Harmony. I can't wait to try out the things you mentioned in this video!
For my 50th bday next year, I booked for my family of four a 2 bedroom Aqua Theater Suite on the 8th floor. 11500 is the price and after watching your video, I'm even more excited than I already was. Thank you for the great video and commentary.
My in-laws did Star Class for their 25th wedding anniversary which also falls on my birthday. We were on Anthem sailing from NJ. They had the two level suite in the center aft of the ship. We had 9 people in our party. The genie included us all in everything. Whether or not this is supposed to happen I am not sure, but all I can say is, it was amazing! She took us everywhere and got us into dinner and shows early. Best seats for everything. She made sure that we were all taken care of and I will eventually do this for my family too.
We’re going to be in a Star Class Suite next March and our friends and their daughter are traveling with us too but in a Jr Suite. We wondered if the Genie would save seats for them too at Shows, etc
$12k for 4 people, definitely worth the splurge. We've stayed away from this MEGA ships as we felt it would be to impersonal, but this would make us try such a ship. Truly appreciated your openness & transparency, you got a new sub.
Context matters. We paid over $3000 for two people on the Oasis of the Seas a few years back(interior room to boot) and it was awful. The ship was way over crowded and generally a miserable experience. $12k for four people with this type of service seems much more reasonable. Cruises can be fun, but the ship and the crew can make a huge difference. We sailed on a Princess cruise a few years later and though it was a smaller ship the trip was much more enjoyable. The staff was the big difference. The crew on Princess was 10x nicer than RC.
@@ericblair6984 We have yet to cruise on any ship with more than 3000 passengers. We have been cruising Celebrity the last 10+ years and never had a negative experience. We are now considering Princess, and budget permitting Viking.
I stayed in the royal loft suite on oasis of the seas and it was my first cruise experience at that time. My friend who had taken many cruises said it is a waste getting a high end room since you are only in it to sleep. I needed a break from work and life and booked the royal loft suite for just myself and it was a amazing experience. I mainly left my room to eat and go to the spa and that is about it. It was a great break from life.
That’s exactly what I would expect to do in a luxury experience like that. Don’t leave the room so much. Let the genie take care of the simple things for you while you just enjoy your vacation.
The issue I have with the Oasis class ships with the mega cabins on deck 17 is that most of them overlook the sports deck and not the ocean. I really do not want to be looking over a basketball court from my cabin. For me, the "Crown Loft" suites on 17 are perfect for two people. You get two full bathrooms, and a real nice two story cabin. You do not get the Genie, but I can do those things myself. You have to pay for the drink package and specialty dining, but I am diamond, so I get drinks for free at bars, and if I want anything else I can go to the suite lounge. I got the specialty dining package for $179 a person on my last Harmony of the Seas cruise. So I paid significantly less than it would have cost for the higher cabin and has a great ocean side balcony on the port side of the ship.
Exactly! I really don't want somebody doing all those things for me. I need to be doing something besides eating and watching TV. Maybe for a first-time cruiser that's a huge help, but being for the 10th time on the same ship, how many times I can be at the same show? How many times you can do the same activities? Going through routine procedures, like booking my own things to do, or even wait in line to get on or off the ship while meeting and conversing with other people is part of the fun by now....
Finally a smart comment on this thread. What Matt didn't mention is that you get many of the same amenities in a regular suite that you do in a Star Class suite. This Genie thing is just a huge cash cow for the cruise line, and not necessary at all to have a luxury experience on a cruise ship.
I have cruised in a Grand Loft Suite before on Quantum of the seas 3 night cruise to nowhere, it costs about USD 3,000. Star Class is wonderful and feels like a real luxury cruise line, I went back to Quantum but on Sky Class last week, Star class to Sky class is a big downgrade
I would love to do something like this. My sister passed away suddenly in October and she would have loved this. Our last cruise together was Halloween 2019 so in her memory we will be sailing this year for Halloween.
@Coco Butter it is a foul! I don’t need to ask for sympathy. My family cruise once or twice every year and if my sister would have been here to see that video she would have been booking us on that cruise. Why would you ask a stupid inconsiderate question like that?
@Coco Butter I’m not sure what your point is or that you felt you had a point to prove at all! So if that makes your feel good about yourself for doing so then God bless you.
I paid S$2,500, which is about USD 1820 for 3 Nights of Grand Suite 1 Bedroom on 3 Nights Cruise to nowhere onboard Quantum of the seas. I would give it 6/10 for value, I wished there was more exclusively such as early concierge booking for SeaPlex and FlowRider, Concierge can’t book SeaPlex activities, have to book it onboard
We had an ice cream bar set up in our room for the kids. It was amazing. After our cruise was over my wife and I said we won't sail any other way. Absolutely amazing experience.
We had a 2 bedroom aqua theater suite Oct 2021 Symphony of the Seas. Hot and sticky in Miami embarkation day with really long lines, but we were whisked inside and taken straight to our room Our genie, Sunil D’Souza was wonderful. He was so funny because we weren’t demanding and didn’t know what to ask for. He said we were the most undemanding guests he ever had. He kept asking us what we wanted him to do for us. He gave us the most generous and lovely gifts at the end of the cruise too. My hubs didn’t ever take advantage of head of line privileges for stuff like slides and such, (I’m handicapped and can’t participate in any of the physical activities) and we didn’t use a lot of the perks we were entitled to use. Like one poster said, once you do star class you’ll never want to go back. If you ever want to splurge on a cruise, do a star class. It’s fabulous. We have an Owners Panoramic booked for Sept on the Allure and can’t wait.
I got the 2 bedroom aqua theater suite for me and my niece in September I got it for 6,000. I did it because of covid for the social distancing. I can not walk long distance our genie arranged for a wheelchair escort to take me to our Cozimal excursion and to Coco cay.
I know this is a interesting question but what percent would you tip at this point? Such a high price point but they are delivering on so many levels so what do you think would be fair?
Thank you for transparency with the price! One question I struggle with: what's a proper tip for the Genie? What did you leave? I'd be scared to undercut the tip or overshoot it.
We gave our Genie $400. I read up that it ranges from $200 to $800. Honestly, she earned it. Genies are magic. Totally changed our cruise experience. Our next two booking are Star class.
It breaks my heart people are paying sometimes over $20,000-$50,000 for a cruise, and they allow "tipping" to stress them out. It's actually a shame on Royal. You shouldn't be able to tip a Geinie, and they should be forced to reject tips. They should be compensated fairly. As much as a dang Star Class cost, Royal could easily afford to pay Genie a base wage they are happy with.
Matt....We were in the same exact suite you were in on Dec 2, 2018. It was four adults, and we had a blast. Our Genie, Alan was amazing. But we paid a total of $6500 for the four of us. You read that right....and we know we really got a fantastic deal. My husband is an outside Travel agent, and he was able the acquire this special deal for us and our two friends. We got it before RC put in "Royal Up". Would we do it again? Of course, if we got it for that price and we would even pay up to $5000 per couple as I think the experience is worth it...... but we would not pay over $5000 per couple since we already had the experience. We have done 89 cruises (not all with RC) and plan to do at least 5 cruises with RC in '22. At the end of those five we will be Diamond+. Thanks for the videos, and all the tips Matt.
Over Thanksgiving the Wife & I Cruised the SCARLET LADY and there are things We like & other's were like what are They thinking but glad We did... Now We are looking at Cabins as these ONE time just to say We did & then back to our usually Balcony's ......Thanks Matt
I asked my Genie about finding us a fishing trip when our schedule changed and we ended up with a full day in Nassau.....within 5 hours he had found a half day deep sea fishing charter for me and my 3 guests for basically the next day. It was so disappointing when my son got really sea sick that night and we ended up not being able to go fishing because of it....but it is something I will remember for next time!
Another perk is that in Suite class rooms you get 2 Crown & Anchor points per night stayed. This can help you get into a better C&A tier faster. Coastal Kitchen is a great perk that you can enjoy faster if you accumulate enough points and you won’t even need to be booked in a suite
we ate at coastal kitchen on our last cruise. I have to say it was the worst eatery on the ship in our experience. The waiter never came around, i actually got a refill myself on our drinks. I didn't get the food i ordered. It might have been just a bad day for them but it was our first time eating there so it made a lasting impression. We ate at main dining after that and had an amazing time there. On a positive side we did mention our experience to our main dining waiter and 5 minutes later the coastal kitchen manager was at our table seeing what he could do to make up for the bad experience.
Not sure if this is true for all cruise lines but I took a behind the scenes tour and the engine room was off limits. We toured the control room that was attached but the tour guide told us the engine room was too hazardous and the company would not allow passengers inside. I will say even without the engine room, the tour was amazing. The bridge, galleys, food storage, backstage, crew quarters, all of it was awesome. What astounded me was that for all you can access as a passenger, you are actually seeing about half of the ship. Take the tour...you won't regret it.
I’m not sure any of the cruise lines have restarted the behind the scenes tours yet. As far as visiting the engine room, that won’t happen these days because of potential safety issues. The control room is about as close as you can get. That’s okay with me. Not sure I’d like to know passengers are wondering around big spinning, high voltage equipment. Let the experts do their job without camera flashes and tons of questions. My $0.02US
Great video! To have convenience it only takes one thing to have. It is not one wants to be different than others, just not to experience everyday hectic paces during a vacation.
Thanks for the nice tight review, Matt! Nice explanation. I do think there’s quite a bit of value there by having the drinks and specialty dining already included. So yes, it’s definitely an additional up charge but not as much as it might appear (depending on sailing dates, pricing, ship, etc.)
It looks amazing.. but, for a regular joe like me it’s just too much. It sounds great to have someone bring me Starbucks and get all the best seats or I could go on 6 cruises and get my own coffee. Certainty looks like a wonderful experience, but most of us just don’t have the means.
We had the Royal Loft Suite on Odyssey of the seas - There is not enough room to write how great our Genie Was, (Marla Rivera) - WE LOVE HER. She actually felt bad that we did not ask more of her - It is truly worth every penny to have a room of that caliber and the services of these outstanding people. It's like you have the run of the ship. We did everything we wanted to do and she organized it all - It was truly an experience of a lifetime. We have had Royal suites many times on many various RCCL ships but this is an experience you will never forget. You owe it to yourself to give it a shot.
We leave on star loft suite on feb,4 first cruise and first genie.your in the money, between 12 and 13. Just want to try somthing different and hopefully exciting ,thanks for the guide
Just booked my first star class trip for a family cruise in The Royal Loft on Anthem. Came on here to get first hand accounts from others who have done it to get an idea what the experience is like. I appreciate the comments from folks who have actually done it and even those from people who are looking forward to doing it or just have it on their bucket list. What I can't understand are the negative comments from people who have never done it and have no interest in doing it. Why are you even here if this is not your thing. And what compels you to comment on something you have no interest in. I don't go on sports memorabilia or car enthusiasts comment sections, things I have no interest in, and comment on how you can better spend your money on a fancy room on a cruise ship with awesome perks. What floats my boat (pun intended) may not float yours. Good on you, do your thing, enjoy it and live your best life. Somewhere along the line people got it into their heads that if it's right or wrong for them it should be right or wrong for everyone else. What a boring life that would be. Tell you what, don't spend my money and I won't spend yours. You wanna spend a month in one place for half the money or less than I spend on a 7 day cruise...cool do it. Sounds awesome...for you. Hope you have an amazing time. For me a couple days at sea with a few stops at different places, with a dedicated lounge and restaurant, butler service and all the amenities I could ask for...that's MY happy place. At the end of the day, when talking about vacations, we are not really paying for the thing but rather the memories and feelings we are left with. You don't get to have an opinion on what makes me happy any more than you want me to have an opinion on what makes you happy. Or, I guess you do get to have an opinion, just know nobody cares but you.
My brother and his wife got one of these suites a couple of years ago. Very nice room...if you're into staying in your room. When my wife and I are cruising, our room is where we sleep and keep our clothes.
This was a well done video with a lot of useful information. Not sure how I'd feel getting so much attention all the time, because I'm a very private person, but I believe they take that into account for your experience on board.
we have been in the Haven on the NCL Bliss and Breakaway - both over $12k. We also got the drink packages, wifi, specialty dining including. I thought it was worthwhile but Royal and the Genie appear to be much better. While we are now on Royal in balconies, star class is something we will consider going forward.
13k isn’t bad for a week long vacation with a personalized service. I usually pay that much for a week long trip to Disney world where I stand in line for two hours to watch my kids ooh and ahh on some decades old ride.
We sailed star class on Anthem (GLS) and most recently Oasis (GP). We generally cruise over Christmas and feel the premium is still worth it. We like to try different ships and rooms and have a 2BR ATS booked on Harmony Christmas 2022. We love star class, but a great genie can definitely add to your onboard experience. Enjoyed your video, thanks!
Keep in mind that only Ships of the Oasis Class and Quantum Class (one of which is only serving in Asia) are the only ones that have Star Class Suite/Lofts
12 grand for everything you get hear actually starts to sound like a real bargain compared to the 6 grand for what you get for the Disney Star Wars ‘cruise’.
Hi Matt, Thank you for reviewing the STAR Class suites. We are schedule to cruise in Jan 2023 on the Oasis OTS. We are in the AquaTheater suite. Based on your review I'm sure we will love traveling with the star class amenities.
Hey Matt. Great video. How do the gratuities work with a genie? I'm assuming you still have the normal room attendants and wait staff to tip? Thanks for the information.
It would be very nice to have a personal genie. There are a lot of pluses that come with this experience. Was that a hot tub on the private balcony? I know my family would love this holiday but I just couldn’t justify it knowing I could give this money towards my children. Saying that… it may be worth it to others pending there situation in life. I personally like getting up real early and watch what goes on around the ship while people are sleeping. It’s also fun to watch other passengers do crazy things. My wife and I are taking our granddaughter cruising in March. I usually have competitions with her playing miniature golf or water slide racing. I believe Mariner of the Seas has laser tag so winner is last one standing ( she is a fast, small target). I guess what I am trying to say is no matter if it’s a big suit or small cabin… you make your own memorable time onboard.
We got the star class loft suite last minute 2 weeks before our cruise due to a cancellation. I think it cost $1200 more for 3 of us and it was worth every penny!!!!!!!
What mattress do they use for the Junior Suite and the Balcony staterooms because we just came from Anthem of the Seas because it was a little too firm for my taste?
I have the money to sail Star class. I have gone on many cruises and always get a balcony room facing the ocean. Good price point for what you get. I think the cost for the Star class 7-8 night cruise is too expensive. You spend most of your time outside of the room doing activities, excursions, dining, shows etc. Going on Allure this month (April 22) and have 2 balcony ocean cabins. Paid 4k. IMO that is a good value for a 8 night eastern caribbean cruise.
I can see myself on a cruise ship such as this...or perhaps, Carnival Dream would be awesome. Oh the fun and experience of trips to islands, etc. would be great.
I wonder how it compares to Celebrity, Aqua or Retreat since both are Royal Carribean? I just cruised Celebrity and it was amazing. I would cruise Celebrity and upgrade from Veranda to Conceierge or Acqua Class. I don't know that I would go to Retreat so that means I would not go to Star Class on Royal Carribean unless my family wants it and it pitching in on paying for the cost of that suite. I'm good with a balcony on any cruise ship or an ocean view. As long as I'm cruising I'm good.
I think it sounds like a bargain for all those amenities including a spacious room. It’s all down to if you can afford it or not. I travel on an all suite ship with everything included and butler service, it’s easy to spend that much and more depending on trip, I think it’s the only way to travel.
Hi We are 8 in the AT 2BR; do we get special time on the Flowrider and is the Specialty Restaurants every night in addition to the Coastal Kitchen? Enquiring minds want to know. We are D+ & D C & A members.
We really enjoyed our star class experiences. As far as is it worth it? That Varies with each person. To us it is. The thing I have struggled with lately is comparing it to a private yacht charter. 20 k a week, sometimes more can get you a very nice yacht to charter and explore whatever destination you want.
My family has considered chartering a yacht for a week instead of a week cruise. The main issue is on royal you have top notch entertainment between the comedy, the food, all the shows they put on, the casino, and shopping all in one place. On top of all that the boat is taking you to destinations. Yeah it would be nice to be on a yacht to pick when and where we go places but the down time would be boring.
Great experiences shared here. With the service that a Genie gives, what is the norm for guests to give the genies re tips/gratuities? Seems like they work real hard for the guests
@royalcaribbeanblog Sorry to bug you, just wondering how you get the ice cream social? Is that something you request from the Genie or would it be something you could order from a restaurant?
Great video. I think you are spot on. For us a balcony, drink package and Wifi… a lot of times is about $4K for a week. Tell me I can double the size of my room and get speciality food every meal plus leverage other perks. The cost should be at least 2x. The “value” is going to be based on ones personal budget and opinion. However I will probably do it for a retirement or something.
I paid 10 K for 2 suites on carnival. (including specialty dining, wifi etc which I wouldn't have to pay extra for with one of these star class suites) Graduation cruise in June for both my sons. I am so doing this next time! Don't mind sharing the suite with my teenage sons if they have their own bedroom.
I was hoping to treat my family (sister and parents) and I to something like this. I was invited and I paid for all the excursions but the room was tiny. I offered that I will pay for a suite next time, and this is what I was looking for as far as a memorable cruise experience.
Matt, question: I just paid a deposit on Harmony of the Seas for a cruise on December 10 -17, 2023. We booked a Grand Suite 2 Bedroom, does that room qualify us for the Genie service? I'm asking because they haven't emailed my itinerary yet.
We, couple, recently enjoyed a Celebrity Apex trip in a Sky Suite, with all the perks The Retreat has to offer. But this seems intriguing. Perhaps a bigger suite for similar money (?) Can you, or anyone, compare the two? Thank you!
For $12,000 you could rent a beautiful beach side house for the week and not be stuck on a boat with 5,000 people. $12k buys you a much better vacation on land
I just booked the spacious aqua suite on deck 8 on the Symphony of the Seas for May 2022 for 2800 pp there are 5 of us going. This will be our first time in a Star Class. Just checking to see if I got a good deal and to get any pointers from those who have done star class before. It is a little unfair to compare prices from 3 years ago. Everything has gone up.
Wow I've never been on a cruise yet. I've been trying to sort it all out. Get opinions and advice. Seems like the fun things to do are all booked up before you even arrive on the ship! So the way I see it all is it would be so worth it not to have to plan anything as someone else would do it for you. This would be the way to go.
Thanks for the window into the star class world… don’t think we’ll make it anytime soon as there are many many cruises we want to go on… but never say never…
We went Star class on Odyssey of the Seas via a room upgrade!

Gosh, I want to read all these Genie stories. Thank you.
Boy, that millionaire life has its own set of challenges, doesn't it? "No peasants were allowed on our elevator", indeed!
How much did you tip your genie at the end of the cruise?
@@Mxyzptlk30 we tipped her $500.
Thanks for this!
A bedroom suite is something you do?
Letty is amazing, we always seem to have her as our Genie no matter what ship we're on!!
@@Tristanpyle81 Yes, she is! She really made us all feel like royalty. My middle grandson had a huge crush on her too.
Lezlee I am so sorry for your loss and I am SO glad you had the opportunity to take your grandchildren on a cruise so you could make some sweet and wonderful memories with them!❤
@@Psalmtwentyseven thank you so much.
All I can say is wow! I think $12,000 for 4 people on a star class is totally reasonable. What a memorable experience!
I love star class! If it's an actual vacation and not a I'm working on this trip vacation I want it to be star class! I literally got a second job to be able to cruise like that more often. I know that nuts but hey, I fell in love with it.
If you have lots of spare money then it might be worth it, but for most people I think the 6 night cruise for $788 total is the best value.
Thanks! Welcome to the channel
Yes, this is a great idea.
I considered traveling star class but the thought of no longer owning a car when I got back home quickly suppressed that desire.
😆 LOL
My family of three has done Star Class (Sky Loft) on our last 3 cruises. Once you do Star Class there is no going back to just being a regular cabin cruiser! So many perks you feel like Royalty for a week.
On the Oasis class ships you can live the entire week on deck 17 (Lofts). Enjoy your suite / balcony and just walk down the private hall throughout the day to the Coastal Kitchen for unlimited drinks / food. No need to ever have to use the jam packed buffet or dining rooms.
Note: The quality / experience of the Genie’s service does vary.
"Has done" 🔫⚰️
Thanks Matt. Oh, the things you have to endure to get us a great video!
Sweet! See what I did there? 😉
Ooooo. I am also in a 2 BR Aqua on the Allure April 23rd. Once in a lifetime opportunity and my first cruise !! So excited 🚢⚓️
She made sure that we were all taken care of and I will eventually do this for my family too.
lol sailing out of scenic New Jersey
How much was it Captain America
Could've stayed at a nice beach resort for 1/4 of the price if that's all you were interested in doing. Waste of money in my opinion.
Hopefully you are feeling and doing ok now buddy, take care and big hugs from the U.K. 👍🏻😷
Star Class is wonderful and feels like a real luxury cruise line, I went back to Quantum but on Sky Class last week, Star class to Sky class is a big downgrade
how long ago was that? my family crammed 9 of us in the cheapest, tiniest room and we paid 2500 for it
I would love to do something like this.
A definite bucket list thing to do.
Yes. That is our biggest concern(and a decent price).
Great question!
@@puthyx that's a fair take!
Over Thanksgiving the Wife & I Cruised the SCARLET LADY and there are
things We like & other's were like what are They thinking but glad We did...
Now We are looking at Cabins as these ONE time just to say We did & then
back to our usually Balcony's ......Thanks Matt
I believe that another benefit is complimentary gratuities (the daily ones that everyone pays).
Are the lifeboats seated by class?
I've never been on a cruise before, but I think it would be cool to have a tour of the engine room.
Omg yes I didn't think of that. Thanks for sharing!
Never been on a cruise? You are missing out big time. Me?.....71 cruises with 5 more booked.
I booked my first star class suite for Dec 2024 in star loft suite on Allure. I can’t wait!!
Dang....and I was wondering about that $185 single interior cabin on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. Maybe I should rethink that 🤔.
Thanks Matt for being honest on the cost! Very nice content 😀
This was a well done video with a lot of useful information. Not sure how I'd feel getting so much attention all the time, because I'm a very private person, but I believe they take that into account for your experience on board.
I've paid $3500 pp for a balcony aqua class room on celebrity so to get all this for the same price is amazing.
On RC you get more for your money than Celebrity in my opinion
we have been in the Haven on the NCL Bliss and Breakaway - both over $12k.
Or $6k for 2-3 day stay at Disney's star cruiser experience.
Hi Matt, Thank you for reviewing the STAR Class suites. We are schedule to cruise in Jan 2023 on the Oasis OTS. We are in the AquaTheater suite. Based on your review I'm sure we will love traveling with the star class amenities.
Glad it was helpful! I think you'll have a great time!
That was a great price. Totally worth it. 4 ppl? All the time and aggravation you saved.
I'm confused; have YOU actually booked and sailed in this top suite class cabin ?
Stupid question but if you ordered something like the Birthday cake is that a extra charge or is this like a all you can order buffet?
Nice I would love to have them suites I just came back from my Warcraft beer from Jersey 12 days love that I had a balcony but I love it
I'd miss my inside cabin too much to ever go Star Class.
Your correct there is nothing better then sleeping in a closet for a week lol 😂
Hey Matt. Great video. How do the gratuities work with a genie? I'm assuming you still have the normal room attendants and wait staff to tip? Thanks for the information.
Gratuities are included with Star Class, but most people tip their genie extra. How much extra is a debatable topic
Ironically…I don’t think I have ever been more stressed after watching a UA-cam video as I feel right now.
Awesome video. Great to know. Thanks!

It would be worth it to exchange things I don't need for things I like. I don't drink alcohol, let me get Spa service instead.
Hey Matt! Thanks for the great video
Great video and review. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would love to hear your thoughts on suites on the smaller ships.
Thanks Matt!!!!!!!!
You didnt mention anything about tipping. Is it higher when did you tip? How much extra on top of 12.7 k can we expect to spend?
My hubby got this sort of experience when he was in the Royal Navy and joined HMS Ark Royal. Oh! and he met the then Queen Mother.
I can see myself on a cruise ship such as this...or perhaps, Carnival Dream would be awesome. Oh the fun and experience of trips to islands, etc. would be great.
If one didn’t have kids, the Rockstar suites on Virgin Voyages would seem the better value to me.
What are thoughts for the Genie tip? I know it states all gratuities are included...but does that include the Genie?
I'd love to do this, just once.
I think it sounds like a bargain for all those amenities including a spacious room. It’s all down to if you can afford it or not.
I travel on an all suite ship with everything included and butler service, it’s easy to spend that much and more depending on trip, I think it’s the only way to travel.
what suites are star class on the wonder of the sea? would love to try it out but with so many suite options I dont want to get the wrong one!
I can afford it and it wouldn't hurt me. Would I enjoy it? No. It is just too much money to justify for anything for one week.
I agree with you 100%. For the price of a suite I’d rather book 4-5 seven day cruises.
Hi!! Where do you order the ice cream from? (Sailing Star Class on Allure)
@royalcaribbeanblog Sorry to bug you, just wondering how you get the ice cream social? Is that something you request from the Genie or would it be something you could order from a restaurant?
Great video and insight.
How many bathrooms in your suite?
Two
Great video.
No. Here are the rooms that qualify: www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2019/11/08/what-star-class
@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog Thanks
We, couple, recently enjoyed a Celebrity Apex trip in a Sky Suite, with all the perks The Retreat has to offer. But this seems intriguing. Perhaps a bigger suite for similar money (?) Can you, or anyone, compare the two? Thank you!
Reyno!!!!
Essentially you get a mom. It’s not a royal genie. It’s a mom.
😂 😂 😂 that’s a good one
For $12,000 you could rent a beautiful beach side house for the week and not be stuck on a boat with 5,000 people. $12k buys you a much better vacation on land
I just booked the spacious aqua suite on deck 8 on the Symphony of the Seas for May 2022 for 2800 pp there are 5 of us going. This will be our first time in a Star Class. Just checking to see if I got a good deal and to get any pointers from those who have done star class before. It is a little unfair to compare prices from 3 years ago. Everything has gone up.
Is it more expensive now? I thought cruise prices dipped because of Covid in 2020& 2021
@@boofg4483 someone was comparing a cruise price they took in 2015 to prices today.
this is sooo helfpul. shooting the facts!! like a regular person
You really need to go it an experience of a life time...it gives you great memories...
Do you have an actual video of you guys on the ship? This seems to be just a compilation of other random clips and not yours
For $12k, there better be a barista in my room ready to give starbuck's enemas
Thanks for the window into the star class world… don’t think we’ll make it anytime soon as there are many many cruises we want to go on… but never say never…
