    UNBELIEVABLE ENDING! That's the kind of mental resolve a player needs to win these world class events.

    Hopefully, Xu Xin will make it in any of the Top 3 spots, because of his continuous growth, and once he masters the RPB style like Liu Guoliang and Wang Hao does, I dare he say he's king already.

    It is known since the world champ 2011 Rotterdam that Wang Hao and Zhang Jike are the two chinese who will represent china in the olympics in singles.
    It was not Gouliangs choice, they were qualified as they were the 1st and 2nd on the world rankings that time.

    I hopefully want to hear that since Xu Xin is improving a lot. Xu Xin won the latest China Open 2012 as the grand champion, defeating Ma Long. Although, when it comes to skill, Wang Hao is far more better at being the king penholder, especially that Wang Hao has definitely mastered the RPB in its best direction, while Xu Xin hasn't yet. Cheers to his career!

  • @Chowqiao

    I never expect Xu Xin to beat Zhang Jike, his greatest weakness, being only proficient on the forehand side, is too often exploited by Zhang's ball placements. How many points were lost when Xu Xin leaping to the backhand side when Zhang flick/loop to his wide forehand?

  • @kirby4blues
    @kirby4blues 12 років тому

    This video only showcases the more 'entertaining' points, which is why you get all the funny exclamations. You should watch the whole match though, as the commentator isn't actually as bad as you think he is - he gives relevant background information and he does mention tactics, albeit not as often or detailed as you'd expect from a seasoned commentator.
    Personally, I prefer Dong Wang, who is Chinese and knows a lot of Chinese TT news; and Richard Prause, who used to coach the German team.

    Of course experience is a factor, but you'll have to admit that it's not the only criterion; otherwise they would have sent Wang Liqin and Ma Lin. ;)
    Btw how can you say that Zhang Jike is "more tested" than Ma Long? They are at the same age and as far as I remember Ma had his debut in the national team even earlier than Zhang.

    Yes, I thought of that also. Of course winning a WTTC is a pound, but I would not deduct that Zhang Jike is generally better at "important tournaments". I mean in the last single WTTC Ma Long lost to Wang Hao in the semi final, but - to be honest - that could have gone either way. Ma Long just had less luck yet. It's the same with Ma Lin: He could not shine with a big title for a very long time, but was widely recognized as the best player of his time.

    @rosun82 12 років тому

    Zhang Jike won the WTTC, also beat Boll twice in events that mattered, that's what we call tested!
    Ma Long may be good in unimportant tournament, but exhibit problem in every single big event he attended, lost to Samsonov in world cup, to Boll in WTTTC, to Wang Hao in both WTTC...that's why he is NOT up to the Olympic task

  • @molitatron
    @molitatron 12 років тому

    how the hell is zhang jike more tested than Ma Long, whos been whooping everyones ass for some time now? Hell, then get Liqin, hes tested for sure

  • @rosun82
    @rosun82 12 років тому

    You guys just don't understand that for Olympics, the experience and psychological factor are way more important than techniques...
    Why so many good European plays got crushed by older guys in Olympics they beat easily before? Boll lost to Waldner, Maze to Primorac, Samsonov to Persson, ...
    Ma Long and Xu Xin are not tested, so they are NOT up to the task. For the Chinese team, this is not a time for gamble...It is not like a European team who can afford to put couple of new guys for a go...

  • @NoSpeechForTheDumb

    Liu is a very big brainer because regarding nomination to the Olympics, H2H ist totally irrelevant.
    Crucial is who is the bigger threat for non-chinese players.
    I think Wang Hao with his weird backhand is more of a threat than Xu Xin, so this decision makes sense.
    Then, to be more versatile, also one shakehander is chosen, and between Ma Long and Zhang Jike, Liu Guoliang chose the one with stronger nerves. ;)

  • @KaxMisha
    @KaxMisha 11 років тому

    Not a chance. Though he may beat them every once in a while, there is no denying that they are both vastly superior players to him. I think up-and-comers like Fan Zhendong and the like will pose a much sterner challenge than Xu Xin in the future. We will se what happens! :)

  • @Cl0udN
    @Cl0udN 12 років тому

    LOL, Xu Xin was not able to participate in the olympics because of the so called Asian Olympic Qualification. Wang Hao, Zhang Jike, and Ma Long were able to enter and be qualifiers because when they were registering for the olympic qualification tournament, they were all under the top 3 spot. Although Ma Long replaced Wang Hao's number 1 spot, they were registered on Wang (1), Zhang (2), and Long (3). Xu Xin can't compete yet unless he earns a spot on any of the top 3 on the next few months.
