Do you happen to know if they run the standard dmx channels? i have cheap lights that don't play well because the "red" channel and so forth on standard gear isn't the same for the cheap ones.

did you happen to get these to work with dmx on more than one light? i can only get mine to work on channel 1 of dmx

I have been able to get mine to work chaining 4 of these together. However it was a bit different in that I had to set the fixture address to double of what is typical. I just kept experimenting until it started working. This dmx control tutorial is pretty good. Are DMX cords the exact same thing as mic XLR cords?

Actually, they look the same and and technically you could use an XLR but there are differences in the shielding so you could experience dmx signal drop out running longer distances. It’s better to actually get a dmx cable for consistency and to avoid issues.
