    I'd like to start dockstarting . I got a fanatic mast and foils like 1500 free, 1350 glide. I ordered a gong lemon eps 35L . Is my set up good? Whatvshould I change? I was thinking to buy a amp 1750 to help out. Thanks for your video.

    This is helpful. Thanks. I will try today to push down on backfoot to climb. I pump a few good pumps without knowing how it works. It is good to know what the steps are. However, things happen so quickly, it seems like thinking is not an option. Cheers.

      @@bctt6376 Thanks! you’re right, thinking is not an option while pumping 😅 before and after is better 😉
      When you push on your back foot, this is like you take support on your foot then toes as if you wanting to jump. Your whole body gets up: head, shoulders, chest even the heel of your back foot to be as light as possible letting the board under you to go up.

    Good explaination, but if for beginners: please use a beginners foil and explain as low aspect foils pump differently than high aspect foils. Good recommendation for beginner setup would also be helpful (Gong, Hydrofoil, Leviathan 1350,...)

    Hi Ludovic, thanks for the video. Can't wait to put it in practice. I pre-ordered a Klubber 95, currenlty waiting for delivery now. I have only a Gong X-Over XL 1600 cm2 and a Curve XL 1400. Do you think these will be enough for me to start learning pumpfoil? I am 87 kg. I know they are a bit small but just to start learning before moving to something higher aspect like the Curve H. Thanks.

      @@vladfane Hi! Thank you :)
      Of course it will be a bit more challenging than a XXL but I think this will do the job fine for the gliding exercises, the first pumps and having a good feeling on how it works, especially with the X-Over XL. As you wrote, this is “just” to start learning. Then a Curve H like the xxl 115cm is a good choice 👍 Give a try and let me know, your feedback will be interesting 😉

    Hi Ludo. Is the bottom of the front wing supposed to be 0 Degrees parallel to the bottom of the board where the mast is connected for pumping?

      @@bctt6376 Hi! Yes, my setup has 0 deg, it works fine. I have no experience so far with another inclination. Gong is selling a fuselage with 1 deg inclination. The purpose is to use a smaller stab without losing in lift. This is fine tuning, at least at the beginning this is not relevant.

    Why do you thing high profile wings are more difficult? In my experience for pumping they are easier to start with. Much better front leg feel, no dive, and not playing to much side to side. I do not get why for pumping you should start on a low profile stuff. For winging it makes sense with more lift at lower speed to lift up early and have turns learned under power. But for pumping that's irrelevant.

    • @Ludo_freefoiler
      @Ludo_freefoiler  3 місяці тому

      @@someoneinmyhead Thanks for your message. Always interesting to get the feedback from others based on their experience. There is not only one way of learning 👍
      Of course high aspect ratio advanced frontwings are much better. This is what you want to use as quickly as possible. So if you feel it will work for you, go for it without using something else!
      But learning pumping is not easy. This is important to be able to do a few controlled pumps as quickly as possible not to get frustrated and start making progress to have fun.
      A low aspect ratio frontwing such as the X-Over XXL (100cm, 2000cm2) is very stable, easy to control, predictable, can fly at very low speed. So you don’t need to be that precise (plus cheap and safe since edges not sharp). I used it for about 6 months and have learnt very quickly and the right technique. Pumping for a couple of minutes with it is challenging but with the right technique possible. Definitely for me a lot easier than the Sirus FW that I use now. Very big lift, if you are not precise it will be hard to control and feel unstable.
      What setup are you using? How did you learn it?

    • @someoneinmyhead
      @someoneinmyhead 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Ludo_freefoiler good points. I agree to sharpness and the price can bite as well. On the other hand if you're fit you'll outgrow those beginner wings very quickly. I started on Rise 2100 sqm and almost immediately changed it because of thickness and glide issues. X-over is slightly better, but I'd then go to Curve-H as not so demanding entry wind for pumping with progression curve.
      I'm now on Fluid-H, I don't do beach start because of a larger winging board (85L). But I like pumping my Fluid-H XL over the wind lulls on the lake. It's only 1500 sqm, which with my 80 kilos is somewhat small and is challenging, especially on a larger board. So yeah, I learned pumping because the wind on my lakes is very unpredictable and you do similar movement when pumping for the take off. I plan to have a proper pumping setup for the next year hopefully. With sirus or new HDW Verloche series.
      I find your videos nice and helpful. You advice is also pretty descent. It's just that even in our foiling community I often heard that no one had that much of a challenge starting on HA or mid-Aspect wings.
      I personally compared Fluid Pro Clear 1500 with about 6.5 aspect and Fluid-H 1500 with about 8 aspect. I found the latter much easier to pump and control as it doesn't dive that much and keeps better glide. I also have Fluid-H L (1250), and find it still better in pump that even mid-aspects. They also turn really easy at pumping speeds. When on wing I made a mistake at first turning them to tight and breaking the flow badly:)

      @@someoneinmyhead thank you for your reply!Very interesting!! I fully get your point :) when I started back in 2022, there were not so high aspect ratio like the Sirus FWs, so I am influenced by my own experience. That’s why I refer to the X-Over XXL.
      For me, the best Gong FW for my weight to pump is the Sirus XL (long distance 60min personal record and freestyle tricks).
      I often ask myself: what would be the quickest/easiest way to start learning, having fun and to reach the feeling of no limit? For this feeling of no limit I need a very performant FW, like the Sirus XL. To begin with this is too dangerous, too expense (can easily get damage during first (beach) starts…) and maybe too difficult to handle. So I need a first FW to get started and have fun (even for a short period of time, the shorter the better :)). Something low aspect ratio like X-Over XXL very easy and cheap or the curve H more expensive and probably a bit harder? The Curve H feels better to pump than the X-Over but definitely not like the Sirus.
      I think both ways to get started, either low aspect ratio or entry high aspect ratio are fine 👍

    • @someoneinmyhead
      @someoneinmyhead 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Ludo_freefoiler, agree. Damage is a good consideration if you don't have a nice pier or sandy beach around. Although, the clubber is 400 EUR already. I'd look for a used HA setup with a titan fuse, shorter mast, and Sirus, or one of large Fluid H, Curve H.
      Taller mast (85) is difficult for a beach start. A larger board makes it even harder with handling a good starting motion. I totally agree that with no prior exposure to foiling a simpler setup is beneficial. However in that case I'd rent to learn the basics and buy a lot to progress on.

    Instead of that try to lower your body when the foil is climbing (flex your legs) and to rise up when the foil is getting speed. Ok for being at rest during transition phases. transition phases are useless excepted for rest and should be minimised as far.
    Nice try. Thank you.
