He leaves a wonderful legacy. I'm proud to be a member of Durrell - for many many years now - and it was indeed Gerry's books which drew me in.

I grew up with the books of this great man and he has changed the way I look at the natural world. Unfortunately we may yet see the day when such humane zoos will be the last refuge for many wild animals, as their habitats will cease to exist.

Happy birthday ! I met him when i was 11 years old and he would be about 40 Gerry was on a UK tour with a cute bush-baby, Three Singles to Adventure and then O-Level book was My Family and Other Animals ... bliss! I have ben involved with conservation ever since. No doubt you are still looking after animals in Heaven !

thank you for this lovely clip of Gerald speaking -- how calm and gentle in manner -- the only way we can win this fight is for his generous and loving consciousness, his love for our beautiful home, to become my consciousness. Only then can we stabilize and begin to establish longterm real survival for our planet and all its creatures. I will try to work for this. I would like "Gerald Durrell" to become a household name and hero for the Americas North and South, and also in all Chinese elementary schools.

If anyone wants to see into the mind of Gerald Durrell read his novel Rosy is my Relative. I read it and cried laughing. Visit the zoo in Jersey, beautiful.

Gerald Durrell was a great man and absolutely deserves to be remembered, I feel the best way to do that is to carry on with his work animals are more at risk now then they have ever been with humankind building on more and more land in nature reducing the amount of land for animals and making human and animal conflicts more and more common and with wars going on in the world, threats from pollution and diseases, animals have just as much right to live on this planet as humans do in fact we need each other in my opinion and need to restore the balance of nature to help protect the wildlife on this planet and the Durrell wildlife conservation Trust is helping tip the balance back to where it should be, but the worse it gets the more weight of people we all need to put together to help level this balance.🦤⚖️🌆
