I love the idea of a “fortnightly” planner. Everything I do is in 2 week segments. My paychecks, budget, meal planning, and shopping are all done every 2 weeks. I’d love to see your ideas on what a fortnightly journal set up might look like.
@@JashiiCorrin I meal plan and grocery shop every 2 weeks. Then I refresh up on veg if I need to. Usually 2 weeks is the perfect amount of time. I’m thinking for fortnightly planner to do 3 planners, 18 weeks/18 weeks/16 weeks + year end review
i think the fortnightly planning would also help with how you get bored of set ups towards the end of the month/journal, because you'll have more set ups. which gives you a chance to use more washi tape!
Hi team! 💜 Hope you liked the setup! As a bonus end-of-year gift type thing, I've set us up a free resource library where you can access all of the printables, ideas lists, and whatever else that I mention in any of my videos 😄 That one is accessible through jashii.com/resources 💪 Hope it's helpful!
Thanks for the heads up! Not so much glitches, but more that when I voice over, I sometimes say things multiple times because I either 1) start a sentence not knowing how it's going to end, so I just say it repeatedly, or 2) I didn't like the way it sounded the first time so I repeat it 😝 Just means I forgot to take some repeats out! I've managed to find two of them, but let me know if you find more! 💜
Thank you, I never look at my monthly setup, I have my monthly bills on a tip-in and anything thing else I put on the daily part of the week. I’m so glad to hear someone else say it
Printing the lettering out and then tearing the paper is literally a life and planning changing idea for me! I write all my headers on a glued-in piece of paper typically as I love the scrapbook/junk journal look for my bujos, so like it really would be a time saver to let the computer/printer do the lettering. I print out and glue in a lot of images, too, so it's really not too far removed from what I already do for other aspects of my bujo.
Oh nice! Yeah I quite like the printing for any lettering style that I either can't be bothered to do myself, or I know it'll just look better if I let the computer handle it 😂💜
Thank you again for showing your process on the freehand drawings and explaining step by step. I'm really happy to be adding to my drawing skills! Also, this whole theme came out beautifully.
Because of your setups in a square journal, I want to get a square journal and give it a try. I just wish I was as creative as you! I struggle to conceptualise and execute and stay consistent with the theme.
I'm so relieved to see I'm not the only one who's been neglecting my journal over November. I managed to set up in my reading journal, but not my everyday. And now I'm missing it, even though I haven't needed it. So I'm undecided if I'll make a quick setup for the rest of the month. I absolutely love this setup, and the change to having the fortnightly setups has me inspired. This makes so much sense, especially when busy. I have the same issue of giving up on monthly trackers halfway. So if I do make a quick November setup, I'll be able to give this a go too.
I'm very curious to see how the two week planning works out! I've seen a few other creators utilize that in other planners, so it's definitely on my mind for next year.
@@JashiiCorrin On UA-cam, Rachelle in Theory has a few videos about two week planning in a Hobonichi, I think, but I've also noticed a few spreads on Instagram recently.
I think the bi-weekly layout is a great idea! If you do want to continue monthly for idea videos or such, use a r&d bujo or create a journal of monthly for video purposes. I personally am excited to see how the new ideas turn out. love this theme and the ease of it.
I love this idea of fortnightly setups! I'm finding the idea of quarterly planning so BIG sometimes and am trying a shorter goal-planning time frame of six weeks. That would mean 8 six-week periods a year and a 3-4 day reset period in between each. So fortnightly planning (i.e. checking-in) would work great then. I'm excited with this experiment!
My job requires long-term planning, sometimes a year in advance. I started putting 6 months of 2-page monthly calendars at the beginning of my journal with pages for "The Next 6 Months" and "Next Year" following them. (So January -June in 2-page calendar spreads, then July - December as a Future Log and a page for the next year.) Then I do my weeklies. I set up my monthlies in a plain black pen and then when I decide what theme I want for that month, I decorate the monthly and then carry it over into the appropriate weeklies. When I migrate over to a new journal I just migrate the Future Log (July-Dec) as 2-page monthly calendars and the Next Year page becomes a 2-page spread. It worked great the first time I tried it and I have been doing that ever since.
Oh nice! Always good when we find a system that works for us 😄 I think I need to get clear on what type of planning does where and with what frequency 🤔
Here before I watch the video. The cover page in the thumbsnail looks so lovely~ I think I will love the theme. After watching the video, I was right, I love the theme. I love the color palette and the materials used. The thing I like the most about bullet journals is the freedom to change them as you go. Whenever I feel a setup is not working anymore I can try something different. I like to keep up a theme, but in a way that I could play with my creativity.
Oh I love all the texture you added! I also like the minimal-effort set-up vibes. I don't know what I'm doing for my December set-up yet but I think keeping it low-key is the way to go. The first time I ever tried one of those double-sided tape rollers it was *impossible* to get it to work. I haven't tried one since. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with them.
They can be so hit-or-miss! Some of them work really well (e.g. the first one I was using) but some are utter trash (the blue one I was using 😂) The most annoying part is that sometimes you can have a great one and a trash one from the same dang brand 😝 the trust is low, lol
I felt the same way about the monthly layouts, so I switched to 6 week periods, which is working fine for me. Additional I have weekly set ups, in combination it's the perfect time frame for me.
@JashiiCorrin I think showing how your planning process is evolving is so valuable to the planning community. Our planning needs do not stay stagnate they evolve, and change and some parts need to be paused for certain seasons. This encourages people to evaluate why something isn't working. I learned long ago that having a monthly tracker on one spread for the month does not work for me, because I never went back to it. I quickly learned it had to be on my weekly pages if I ever wanted to track something. For the past few years I used my monthlies as memory spreads but this year I noticed that I've been having a hard time making time to do that. So for 2024, the experiment will be listing it on my weeklies.
I love when it gets to the end of the journal and it's chunky and full! It's so incredibly satisfying! My square journal is going to have *just* enough space for the rest of the year and 1 "year in review" spread. I'm so tickled to get ready for next year! I'm nearly done with my 3rd year of bujoing!
I might have to make a coloring book page in the back of m notebook and use the extra snippets of washi tape to make a picture at the end of the journal!!! ❤❤❤
I totally did not notice anything with the audio. I love the idea of fortnights. I'm thinking of maybe doing a lot of my stuff on a daily two-page spread. I love the setup and this would allow me to set up 30 to 31 pages. I'm going to try it for December and see if it gets too tedious with similar information on every spread or if I can do something with tip-ins like your reset. Thank you for all of your videos and hard work editing and formatting. 😊
I'm using brown paper in my December layout as well. My theme is postage. During December I don't track my habits because I know myself and know what I won't fill it in. I very much enjoy the holiday season, but I get overwhelmed easily and taking the pressure of filling out a habit tracker is a tiny way to avoid getting overwhelmed. Your spread is very nice. that washi tape is very pretty.
That's a good approach to habits in December 👏 I'm probably going to be keeping my tracked habits to the "super important" ones rather than the "nice to do" ones 😝 Love postage themes! 💜
So pretty! I've been hemming and hawing about whether I should do monthly set-ups or just combine the monthly writing trackers into the quarterly set-up. Oh well, I've got the rest of 2023 to figure it out.
I think, even with a fortnightly setup, you could still have a monthly review. After all, ever second fortnight comes at about the end of the month. I would just include it as part of your second fortnight setup and this would also help you keep track of your months and quarters
Hi Jess, beautiful month and lovely work! I hope the idea of fortnight-planning works for you - it wasn't great for me! I've tried this a couple of times. The last time, in 2021, Old Me wanted my 2021 Bujo to fit into one A&O A5 journal, nice and neat. But this meant that I started running out of pages as the year went on so, starting in October, I had to do a weekly spread per page - which equals a fortnight on the double-page spread. It was so crowded! It really stressed me out - especially trying to do all my planning for all the family and holiday activities in December jammed into those little boxes. I had to leave so much out, and did abbreviations, because I didn't have space. I was so happy to start 2022 with a new Bujo where I could create "normal" spreads again - a week per double-page spread. You may find an 8x8 gives you a little more space on your pages - it will be interesting to see if you have enough room to track and plan. Thanks, Jess!
Good to know about the possible negatives, thanks for the heads up! Were you using just the weekly (well fortnightly) view, or were you pairing that with daily logs too? 🤔
This came out at such a perfect time as I was just wondering what to do for my December setup. 😄 Loving the theme here, the green with the botanicals tape looks gorgeous. I actually have that exact same tape and might use it in my setup as well now that I saw how nice it looked like in yours. 💜
Fortnightly planning would probably work well for more people than you think, paychecks in USA are typically every other week, so it would make planning with budget easy to align with paychecks
I do my bujo setups by months, but instead of starting my months on the 1st day of the month, I start at the beginning of the week, and I stick each week into whichever month it has at least 4 days of. So for example my four-week October went from October 2 to 29, and my five-week November is set up from October 30 to December 3.
Also, I have never made monthly calendars, and I have a few other things that I do differently and never see anyone else doing, so I say go for doing something different, and hopefully you will inspire some people who are just doing things the way other do it because they don't know what else is possible.
I love the idea of setting up and planning for every two weeks versus doing weekly logs since I tend to get through the set up for the month/first week or so and then I’m like ‘ughhhhh I have to do more set ups??’ At the end of the week for the next one since I tend to get tired before I set up all the weekly logs. I love the idea of quarterly planning especially for goals, but I would worry it would just compound on that lack of motivation that seems to happen part way through the month🤔 maybe you could do a main quarterly set up for bigger things like goals, a notes/brainstorming/mind unwind list (so you wouldn’t have to set up one every month and potentially not use the notes list), and quarterly review then do the fortnightly ‘mini set ups’ just for the upcoming two week plans/meals/habits to avoid the black hole of no motivation to use the journal?
Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking 👏 I find that quarterly is a good amount of time to focus on a larger goal in terms of time to work on it and make decent progress, and I prefer looking at a quarter rather than a month in terms of "future" planning 😝 Then the fortnightly would be the "closer to now" overview 💪
Jashii! I love it! I love this theme and I love the bi-weekly idea! Awesome, that might work for me much better as well! Have a lovely pre-Christmas season!
I love this theme, it's so pretty! I've been using brown packaging paper quite a lot in my set ups recently, it's so cheap but effective, I've used it in September and November and will probably use it for December too 😅
Gorgeous set up, and I was about to message you on insta to ask how you printed on brown paper bags and you showed us!! It's like you read my mind! That green is gorgeous, and I love how you drew the mountains. Great video :)
hi i love the green! regarding the fortnightly structure (specifically in terms of content making) you could always post a reflection of the last fortnightly and do the setup of the new fortnightly (maybe lining it up with beginning/end of the month)
Yeah I was thinking we could have something like that, or possibly a video of every second quarter where I review the last two or something 🤔 needs some thought, but there's good content potential, haha 💜
I’m excited to see what you come up with for 2024 plan with mes! I need more weekly and monthly spread/task documenting ideas so I’ll be taking notes 🙋🏼♀️🖊️
Ohhh… quarterly planning… never thought of this before. I have school aged kids and I’m wondering if I journal roughly a school term and holidays… I think part of the reason for doing monthly etc is when you take time to reset and look at your goals projects etc.,.. so maybe the question is how often do I reset? As much as how do I plan? Interesting…. Will stay tuned as to what you decide. Get the big business decision though… maybe you’ve found a new niche?
Possibly, yeah! 😂 certainly a change up that I haven't seen many, if any, do before (though I know they're likely out there, I just haven't found them yet 👀)
The printing on the brown paper bag is brilliant. I love it! I do also love how it came together. It looks great. Let us know how you like the fortnightly style!
Hey there! 💜 I talk more about that in my line-up video ( ua-cam.com/video/XcG1JXtT6-Y/v-deo.html ) but I have quite a few 😝 - Everyday journal (the one in this video) - Yearly collections journal - Long-term collections journal - Reading journal - Notes book - 5-year journal - R&D (research and development) journal - Potentially going to include a goals journal next year too 🤔 I've got a quite extensive stack though because I like thing separated 😅
Love this set-up so much! Really curious what that double-sided adhesive you use to add the green is. I couldn't find it in the links. And bi-weekly planning for somethings feels so much more manageable at times.
The tape role was this one: www.warehousestationery.co.nz/product/W2097205.html It's my go-to when I want my adhesive to be run along longer straight edges 💪😊
Rachael Stephen (she has planning videos here on UA-cam) planned using their biological circle to separate up the ‘months’, and separated is by seasonal so late autumn, early spring ect. May not work for you but might be a good style to look at
You can still do a monthly review if you find it helpful. Think of it like a budget... what you BUDGET will be spent would be your quarterly planning and what ACTUALLY happened in the month will be what you add to the review. Keeping the review could show you if planning quarterly is working, and it would make it easier to find trends instead for waiting a full 12 weeks.
I am very curious to see the evolution of what time spans you concentrate on!! why not do your fortnightly set-ups, then have a 4-week review so you get your "month" but it is whatever the last 4 weeks were, then your quarterly will be less daunting cuz you can pull from the past 3 4-week reviews? or just call it a monthly review and keep it, cuz it IS fun to look back at those snapshots!!
Nice theme :) I find that the glue pen I have is not working great for me...the glue is very weak so It dosn't work well. I wish it did bc glue tape is not ideal for smaller areas :(
I like the fortnightly idea, and it seems to me that your monthly Plan With Me vids could be divided into two parts: "Plan early March with me" and "Plan late March with me," for example. The monthly folks who didn't get it together fast enough at the start of the month could jump on board later, too! (Not me, no. I've never put off a monthly setup until the tenth. Absolutely not.)
😂 not you at all! 😝 I'm thinking something like cycle-based setups (e.g. first 4 weeks of 2024, then weeks 5 - 8, etc.) 🤔 Need to map out how it'd work in terms of layouts though 😛
Hi. I’m new here and loving it. I have an odd and not planner related question. Is Monica real or is it a Friends reference. Sorry for my first question being a stupid question I just have to know!
Haha 😂 Monica is indeed real! 💜 she’s @bibliophilebynight on Instagram 💪 (but also, this question is more common than you think, cause I talk about Rachel and Monica a lot 😝)

The theme is so pretty and I can't wait to see how the fortnightly planning will go 💜
Thanks! 😄 I'm eager to see how it works out too 💪
This came out at such a perfect time as I was just wondering what to do for my December setup. 😄
Loving the theme here, the green with the botanicals tape looks gorgeous. I actually have that exact same tape and might use it in my setup as well now that I saw how nice it looked like in yours. 💜
I'm very into that tape right now 😝 used it in both this setup and in 2024's 💪💜
I like this theme so much it’s going to inspire my 2024 planner theme!
Aww yay! That's awesome to hear 😄 Glad you liked it! 💜
Fortnightly planning would probably work well for more people than you think, paychecks in USA are typically every other week, so it would make planning with budget easy to align with paychecks
Yeah I can certainly see the benefits 💪 I don't see a lot of people doing it though 🤔💜
I don’t understand every vidéos because i’m French, but the vidéos is very cool and you setup for december is very beautiful
You speak very speed 😂😂
I do my bujo setups by months, but instead of starting my months on the 1st day of the month, I start at the beginning of the week, and I stick each week into whichever month it has at least 4 days of. So for example my four-week October went from October 2 to 29, and my five-week November is set up from October 30 to December 3.
Also, I have never made monthly calendars, and I have a few other things that I do differently and never see anyone else doing, so I say go for doing something different, and hopefully you will inspire some people who are just doing things the way other do it because they don't know what else is possible.
Nice 💪 so your months kind of alternate having 4 or 5 weeks? Interesting system! 💜
10k thumbs up in under 5mins!! Go Jess!! ❤
Haha I wish! 😝 Might be a glitch with data from another video, lol 💜 One day maybe though 💪
I you put glue from a glue stick on the sticky tape it allows you to juggle whilst alining the paper
Love the look of this for sure - you do great with the square journal!
Thanks! I've really been enjoying the size 😄💜
Jashii! I love it! I love this theme and I love the bi-weekly idea! Awesome, that might work for me much better as well! Have a lovely pre-Christmas season!
Thanks, you too! 💜 Glad you liked the setup 😄
I love this theme, it's so pretty! I've been using brown packaging paper quite a lot in my set ups recently, it's so cheap but effective, I've used it in September and November and will probably use it for December too 😅
It’s a great decorative addition 😄💜 I tend to keep any that I get from packaging too 💪
I don't prefer the concept of "month" as a period for planning either. But it's always so pleasing to watch you decorating your monthly layouts :D
Thanks! 😄💜 I think I’d still end up with some kinda decorated setup, just in a different time span 🤔
Gorgeous set up, and I was about to message you on insta to ask how you printed on brown paper bags and you showed us!! It's like you read my mind! That green is gorgeous, and I love how you drew the mountains. Great video :)
Thanks! 😄 Glad the lil tutorial-esque part was helpful 💪💜
I’m using old Kikki K Xmas supplies for my December setup, blue pink and plum. Not my fav palette, but after my Black Friday hauls, um yeah.
Nice 💜 that sounds like a super pretty colour palette 😄
I myself am considering going to weekly setups and do tip-ins for a monthly calendar and review; and separate bujo for orders and financials.
Oh cool system! I do love a good tip-in 💪💜
Really love this set up! I may try to do this layout in my own planner, love the biweekly layout 😁
Glad you liked it! 💜😄
hi i love the green! regarding the fortnightly structure (specifically in terms of content making) you could always post a reflection of the last fortnightly and do the setup of the new fortnightly (maybe lining it up with beginning/end of the month)
Yeah I was thinking we could have something like that, or possibly a video of every second quarter where I review the last two or something 🤔 needs some thought, but there's good content potential, haha 💜
Loved this video and theme, Jess!! 😍
Thanks Torey! 😄💜
I’m excited to see what you come up with for 2024 plan with mes! I need more weekly and monthly spread/task documenting ideas so I’ll be taking notes 🙋🏼♀️🖊️
Thanks Tory! 😄💜 looking forward to sharing them, and seeing yours 💪
Can’t remember what I voted for 😂 pretty sure it was this!? Smashing choice anyway lovely set up!😊 & it’s definitely fortnightly 😁 xx🧡
Haha glad you liked it! 😄💜 heck yeah for team fortnightly 💪
I never thought of printing on a paper bag 😂 ❤❤❤
It works surprisingly well 🥳
I’m really interested in how the biweekly planning goes for you.
Thanks! I need to iron out how it's going to work, but I'm interested in seeing how it'll go 😄💜
The greeeeeen tho! ❤❤❤ So pretty 😍
I love it! Been a while since I've used a "proper" green in a setup 💪 (like a "main character" green 😂)
True, it's definitely a main character green 😂
Thanks! 😄💜 Glad you liked it!
Hi, I’m new to this and love your detailed sharing. How many different journals do you use in a month and how does each journal work with the others?
Hey there! 💜 I talk more about that in my line-up video ( ua-cam.com/video/XcG1JXtT6-Y/v-deo.html ) but I have quite a few 😝
- Everyday journal (the one in this video)
- Yearly collections journal
- Long-term collections journal
- Reading journal
- Notes book
- 5-year journal
- R&D (research and development) journal
- Potentially going to include a goals journal next year too 🤔
I've got a quite extensive stack though because I like thing separated 😅
Love this set-up so much! Really curious what that double-sided adhesive you use to add the green is. I couldn't find it in the links. And bi-weekly planning for somethings feels so much more manageable at times.
The tape role was this one: www.warehousestationery.co.nz/product/W2097205.html
It's my go-to when I want my adhesive to be run along longer straight edges 💪😊
@@JashiiCorrin Thank you! Ordering now! I've been using a tombow tape roller but it's not perfect for those long edges!
Rachael Stephen (she has planning videos here on UA-cam) planned using their biological circle to separate up the ‘months’, and separated is by seasonal so late autumn, early spring ect. May not work for you but might be a good style to look at
Sounds like it'd be an interesting watch! Thanks for the recommendation 😄💜
True 🤔 I do like the idea of a more regular check-in compared to just quarterly too 👏💜
nice ❤️💚👍
Thanks! 😄💜
Yeah I was thinking that I could possibly do 4 week reviews, then have 3 of those per quarter 🤔 lots to consider! Haha 😋
Nice theme :)
I find that the glue pen I have is not working great for me...the glue is very weak so It dosn't work well. I wish it did bc glue tape is not ideal for smaller areas :(
I'm interested to see how the one I have holds up over a while, and it's a shame yours isn't working the best 😔
Love your theme and color choices! What size is your notebook?
it’s a square notebook from archer and olive
Sammie got you covered 💪 yup, a square from A&O! 😄💜
Which month is the lettering sheet? Thanks ❤
January 2022 😊💜
It's so difficult getting the Archer and Olive square dot grid. 😢
They still have some designs left as part of their Black Friday sale with good discounts 🤔 the shipping can be killer for us international folks though 😅
What font is that?❤
Rainier 😄💜
Hear me out-- Cabin Core
I’ll take it, haha 💜
6:10 am I the only one stuck at 144p as video quality?
I haven't had anyone else mention an issue at this point, but hopefully it sorted itself out 🤞💜
@@JashiiCorrin I switched from the YT app to the Web version I'm Mozillabrowser and it was fine. I think YT might do that on purpose so that the user get the premium version. 😔 If we don't watch out we'll end up with tons of subscriptions on our hands. 😭
Love your layout!
13:30 am I the only one hearing things and pieces of sentences twice?!
No I came to check too! lol it happened 2-3 times by my count
Can't wait for vlogmas @JashiiCorrin! When does it start?
December 1st 😄 glad you're looking forward to it 💪💜
