maybe there's some leaks in the lower pads. those lower keys seem to go out of adjustment really easily

Can be dependent on alot of things. Voicing, Leaks, or brand. Selmer Low C's tend to be alot more covered while buffet toscas (what he is playing in the video) have a vent to let out some of that air to get low crisp low C
